#occupyburque | Occupy Albuquerque | PHOTOS VIDEO from protest | UPDATE 6

Update:  Monday, October 17th, 2011:

Occupy Albuquerque had a very successful protest on Saturday, October 15th, in solidarity with #ows and #globalchange.  Upon my arrival at the protest point, which was Wells-Fargo in Nob Hill on Central Ave, there were hundreds already gathered.  The crowd swelled to between 700-800 people and was a glorious site!  Every age, race, religion and socioeconomic background was present!  In the true Albuquerque Southwestern tradition, it was an Occupy Fiesta!  This video I filmed and created shows the phenomenon which occurred this day.  For photos of this day, please visit my photo site:  MotleyPhotos.net More…

UPDATE: Friday, October 7th, 2011

Many of the links on the OccupyTogether.org are bad – plus they keep changing the site around so it is becoming rather difficult to maneuver.  Therefore, I have gone through each state on Facebook and located some of the key Facebook pages.  I am sure there are more, but these are good starting places.  See list below.  If you would like your community added, please leave a comment with link.

Sept 25, 2011 | Occupy Wall Street still going strong. Dramatic photos and videos Reply

About 80 people were arrested Saturday as demonstrators who were camped out near the New York Stock Exchange marched through lower Manhattan, police said.

The “Occupy Wall Street” protest is entering its second week. Demonstrators said Saturday they were protesting against bank bailouts and the mortgage crisis; some also held signs decrying Georgia’s execution of Troy Davis, who was put to death Wednesday for the 1989 slaying of an off-duty Savannah police officer.

Iran Pres Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speech at UN. US and others walk out. Truth hurts. Full coverage. Reply

Very powerful speech….  American diplomats led a walkout at the U.N. General Assembly Thursday as Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad fiercely attacked the United States and major West European nations as “arrogant powers” ruled by greed and eager for military adventurism.

Morgan Freeman, the Tea Party and Racism. Truth hurts. 2

In an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan, actor Morgan Freeman stated, ““The tea partiers who are controlling the Republican party…their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term. What underlines that? Screw the country, we’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man out of here.”

That statement brought out the haters everywhere.  And some of the most horrid, ignorant statements I have ever seen in such abundance.

I’m sure this will bring on some strong opinions, but honestly… Morgan Freeman has had the balls to say the plain and simple truth.  And the truth hurts.

Troy Davis. Executed. News coverage. Reply

JACKSON, Ga. — Georgia executed Troy Davis on Wednesday night for the murder of an off-duty police officer, a crime he denied committing right to the end as supporters around the world mourned and declared that an innocent man was put to death.

Defiant to the end, he told relatives of Mark MacPhail that his 1989 slaying was not his fault. “I did not have a gun,” he insisted.

“For those about to take my life,” he told prison officials, “may God have mercy on your souls. May God bless your souls.”

Photos of floods in Pakistan Reply

One year ago, Pakistan suffered the worst flooding in its history, a slow-moving disaster that left some 2,000 dead and another 11 million homeless. Nearly one million are still without permanent shelter, and meanwhile, the flooding has returned. Though it’s not on the same scale as last year’s flood, this summer’s damage is still significant.

High water from monsoon rains has killed more than 200 people since early August, damaging or destroying some 670,000 homes and affecting more than 5 million people, according to the government and the United Nations. The disaster has once again overwhelmed the capacity of the government to assist, and the UN has asked for $357 million in international aid. Gathered here is a handful of recent images from Pakistan, where residents are once again coping with flooding on a massive scale.

With Repeal Of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,’ An Era Ends Reply

Photo, left, courtesy of fernexpress.

The law that for almost 18 years has banned openly gay Americans from serving in the armed forces will be officially repealed Tuesday, nine months after Congress voted to end the Clinton-era edict.

President Obama signed the repeal into law last December, but its provisions required time for the Pentagon to prepare for the policy change, and for top military officials to “certify” the law’s end.

Occupy Wall Street – 5 Minutes of Slow Motion Video – September 17 Reply

Incredibly well-made and edited video of various clips shot throughout the day.  Here is verbatim from the youtube site:

I was curious to see how this event would play out, so I shot from 8pm to 10pm on September 17 at the General Assembly in Zuccotti Park. I was touched by the sense of community, and impressed by the level of cooperation and discipline among the occupiers.

The Tea Party Defends Wall St. As US Day Of Rage Protests Corruption Reply

Mad Tea Party Tweeters are taking over the #USDOR twitter stream in yet another demonstration in their belief that might makes right. Yes, it’s September 17, the Day of Rage where average citizens are protesting the government’s enabling of the corruption of Wall Street.

Ironically, certain angry patriots who just months ago were claiming that it was American to bring a weapon to their representative’s office in order to send the message “Don’t tread on me!” to the government are now are clogging up the Twitter #USDOR Twitter stream mocking the “liberal hipsters” occupying Wall Street. Here’s a glimpse of comments from one page of the stream (names have been taken out to protect the ignorant, but suffice it to say the world Patriot is featured heavily):

Occupy Wall Street going on despite denial from major news media. Photos. Video. Updates. 5

Update:  Sunday, September 18, 2011:

Below is a video of news coverage out of Egypt on the protests on Wall Street. The coverage is in Arabic, but I am posting because at 5:44 minutes into it, there is footage of the police on a bullhorn ordering the protesters to leave otherwise they will be arrested.  Does it not say in our First Amendment:

Amendment I: Congress shall make no law … abridging … the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

As ThinkProgress reported in July, Tea Party freshman Rep. Despite loaning his own campaign $35,000 — and paying himself back at least $14,200 for the loans — Walsh has claimed he failed to make the payments because he “had no money.”

The long awaited Windows 8 was fully unveiled at the Windows Build Conference on Tuesday.

The new system has a new, touchscreen-optimized interface called ‘Metro,’ which looks more like the Windows Phone operating system.

OMG! Wal-Mart is bringing back (shudder) LAYAWAYS!!! 2

Oh, the HORROR of it all!  The images of layaway at Wal-Mart just gives me the heebie-jeebies!  I have a visual image in my mind of all the people from the People of Wal-Mart site standing in line wearing clothing that looks like they were the rejects from previous eras, butt-crack showing, wearing panda-bear hoodies, clothing with the type of sayings that make you scratch your head and ponder, “wtf…”, parts of their bodies exposed which shouldn’t be, and so on and so on.  They are all there carrying on in some strange dialect of English – or whatever their language may be – discussing how horrible their children are, how their boss “dun did ‘em wrong cuz I was just a little bit late” (what he didn’t say was “late every day”), how their utilities are going to be shut off – while standing their waiting to buy their 60-inch TV with wall mount, etc etc.
