Landmark Settlement in Illegal Foreclosures 14

Today, history was made. Federal and state officials announced that they’ve reached a $25 billion dollars settlement with the nation’s biggest banks over the banks’ various foreclosure fraud abuses, such as “robo-signing” foreclosure documents and submitting falsely notarized documents to courts. The settlement has been in the works for several months, as a few key states — most notably California and New York — were holding out for tougher terms against the banks.

The agreement involves five lenders: Wells Fargo, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Ally Financial.

HPD Pull a Shotgun on Crowd of Houston Free Thinkers 11

The “Houston Free Thinkers” is a self-proclaimed civil liberties organization, and on January 27th, they were having a party. The party was located in the middle of a residential area at place called The Compound in Third Ward. Over 200 people were present and three bands were playing. The neighbors complained about the noise and called in the police.

Anonymous Hacks Again. Target: Syrian President Bashar Assad 10

Anonymous does it again. Late on Sunday night, Anonymous gained access to 78 different e-mail accounts at the Syrian Ministry of Presidential Affairs, including that of the Minister of Presidential Affairs, Mansour Fadlallah Azzam, and Assad’s media adviser, Bouthaina Shaaban.

What is really sad, folks, is that the password was “12345.”
