Today was to be my day of catching up on some doggie graphic work and some new websites, but I keep coming across more and more websites and publishings about the war the GOP has declared on Women’s Rights. One minute I want to scream to everyone the unrighteousness behind these bills. Then the next minute, I want to pack up myself and my dogs and move into a cave in the Northern Territories – with high speed internet, of course. I’m sure I can find a cave, but since I seriously doubt I’ll find one with high speed internet, or even in an area where a wireless card will work, then I must do the former of the two options. More…

War on Women March, Santa Fe NM April 28 | Photos 21
I would like to share some photos – which are further down this page below the video – that I took in Santa Fe, New Mexico, for the national march protesting the Republican Party’s “War on Women.” Not surprisingly, the GOP is now denying that they are waging any war on the women in our country. How can they not see what is as plain on the nose on our faces? Because extreme right wing conservatives believe firmly in a hierarchical system. Men are at the top. Excuse me… white men. Followed by white women… about 5 steps behind, pregnant and getting ready to cook their dinner. Any one else is of little to no importance to them – unless they serve a purpose as Allen West does in Florida.

The Swamp Cooler versus the Furnace 14
For those of you who live in a climate where swamp coolers are useless – be thankful. However, the desert southwest is not one of those areas. Born and raised in the midwest, I’d never heard of these beasts until I moved out here. The basic premise is water-cooled air by evaporation. Simple physics… air passes over water, water evaporates dropping the temperature of the air, and voila! The desert-version of A/C. When a home has a decent cooler, they’re not bad, especially when they function through the central air ducts. But some units just blast a wind tunnel of damp cool air out one duct right beneath it and sounds like a 747 landing in your house.

Every 90 seconds, somewhere in the world, a woman dies from a pregnancy-related complication. This isn’t just a “third world” problem. The United States currently ranks 50th in the world for maternal health. We used to rank 41st. Women here experience higher rates of maternal death than those in nearly all European countries, Canada and several countries in the Middle East and Asia. In addition, the U.S. numbers may be depressed as there are no reporting requirements for maternal deaths.
