Pimp My Horse! 7

Freddie W is a special effects artist and I follow his YouTube channel. Some videos are awesome! Others are so-so. This one is not one of his norms since his special effects are more along the lines of gaming, such as explosions and the like.

But this is too funny not to share. Make sure to watch it to the surprise “bass” ending…. Now excuse me while I go roll on the floor laughing some more. And just a heads-up here… this is one of those “so stupid it’s funny” videos. Do not expect award winning anything here. Just chill and go with the flow.

Meet Anakin. The Miracle Kitten with No Back Legs nor Pelvis 15

Anakin is a miracle cat who was born without any back legs or pelvis, and has recently been adopted by Carrie Hawks who happens to be a Fantasy Cat Artist. On Anakin’s Facebook page, Carrie describes how a kitten without back legs started coming over to eat with the other feral cats at her dad’s place of work. Her first few attempts at trying to catch the young kitten didn’t work, but finally on May 31st, Carrie succeeded. She brought the kitten home and as soon as her veterinarian’s office opened the next morning, she took the kitty in. The vet said she has never seen anything like him before and he is utterly amazing! It is also very odd that his mother took care of him even with his handicap as mother’s of most species usually ignore an ill or deformed infant purely as a survival instinct.

My Chance Encounter with 9/11 Survivor Michael Hingson and his Guide Dog 22

Last September, 2011, I came across an article about Roselle, which was Michael Hingson’s guide dog at the time he was on floor 78 in Tower One of the World Trade Center when tragedy struck on that fateful day of 9/11/2001, and posted the following: “Roselle, the guide dog who saved her blind master in Tower One on 9/11“. Roselle had passed just a few short months prior to my posting of that article last September. Naturally, being the dog-lover that I am, his experience and the incredible bravery and duty Roselle gave was, and still is, very heart-warming and touching to me – which is why I posted about Roselle.

Having Problems with Flash Videos Working in Mozilla Firefox? 15

Recently, Adobe Flash Player updated to a new Flash Player 11 version… and Firefox Ver. 13.0.1 just did not seem to like it. I read through a lot of forums which was a lot of opinions of “why this” and “they don’t like that”… basically, internet politics and propriety bullshit.

I just want the damn flash videos to be able to play in Firefox (i.e. YouTube and other flash-formatted videos). I do use Chrome, but I’m a two-browser person, so I use Chrome for some of my internet sites and functions, and I use Firefox for others. Motley News and Photos is a Firefox function as are all the blogs I subscribe to. And the ONLY time I use IE is at work because our reservation system was built by some idiot developers who created it to only work in the back end (admin) in Internet Explorer. Sorry Mac and Linux users, this company (cough cough SignUp4) decided to develop proprietary only.

Heat Wave Melts Metal Newspaper Stand 5

With the heat wave soaring into the three-digits across the country, this is no laughing matter. Power grids are pushed to their limit; many people live without any cooling system; and violent storms with 80-mph gusts toppled trees, cut power lines and killed six people in Virginia alone – also leaving millions of people without power to cool their homes.

Although the extreme heat in and of itself is nothing to scoff at, sometimes humor is all we have to make it through these historic temperatures. Showpaper magazine is a New York-based free bi-weekly print-only publication, which lists and promotes every all-ages & DIY show in the NYC / Tri-state area. They recently installed a melting newsstand in front of the bookstore Printed Matter as the summer heat begins to crank up.

The Parting Shot for June 29, 2012 10

I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g’joob.

Photo I took of a walrus doing laps in his pool. Taken at the Indianapolis Zoo… on one of the hottest days in recorded history. It hit 105 degrees that day. Needless to say, I am glad to be back in the desert where it’s only 98 degrees… and 3% humidity.

The Parting Shot for June 28, 2012 20

I have been in Indianapolis on business attending a conference. The past two nights are the first two nights I did not post any Parting Shots (since I started posting them). Tonight I wanted to share a photo of ME on the big screen at the Lucas Oil Stadium (Indianapolis Colts). The final reception tonight was a private party at the Stadium and we were could go down to the field, kick and throw footballs, and they (obviously) had cameramen there to film and put us up on the big screen. So me… not being shy… directly asked a cameraman to shoot me so I could take a picture of myself on the big screen. So here ya go! Oh, we were to wear football jerseys, but since I do not own one, I wore the closest thing I have… a canine agility t-shirt. Well… the font looks like baseball at least.

Oh, astro turf is spongy and soft! I was amazed! I had never been on a pro field. I only wish my carpeting at home was this spongy and soft….

Things You Should Know About Student Loan Debt | Infographic 4

Here is an infographic about student loan facts created by “Rebuild the Dream.” It is mind-boggling to see what students are up against in order to gain a higher education – a college diploma. Our education system has turned into a “damned if you do, and damned if you don’t” choice upon graduating from high school. You are damned if you go simply due to the overwhelming about of debt a student will incur upon graduating. But if a high school grad decides to opt out of a college education because of the cost, then they are forever bound to lower paying jobs and fewer – if any – benefits.

Photo Story of a Dog Rescue and Other Acts of Kindness and Humanity 30

We all need to take a break from the obstacles in life we encounter daily. Some are easy while others often threaten ones own life or the lives of their loved ones. A failing economy, sickness, poor health care, and a society full of greed, corruption, crime and selfishness can make every day a challenge.

This is when we all need to see that there is compassion and humanity still in existence. Here are a few good acts done from the heart from one stranger to another.

There is nothing more memorable than a “mispelled” tattoo 13

One thing about tattoos, there is no eraser. No “delete” or “back” key. No “control + z” (keyboard command for undo). A tattoo is not an etch-a-sketch… you cannot shake it and start over. Romney has the patent on that.

Before getting a tattoo with any text of any type, it is highly recommended that a spell check is completed before the needle hits the skin. Google it. Grammar check it. If you and/or the artist’s English is not very strong, write it down and find someone whose English IS strong – neighbor, friend, teacher, librarian, convenience store clerk – and double/triple check the hell out of it. Have the paper with the CORRECT text right there next to the artist. Tic off each letter as the artist progresses. An ounce of prevention is worth a forever-lasting misspelled tattoo. When it comes to lettering, cover-ups just don’t do very well.

The Parting Shot for June 23, 2012 11

On June 18th, I featured a “G’morning Shot” of a snail taking a drink of water. I have stumbled across some more of this same photographer’s work and find this one even more magical than the previous one I posted. You really need to see this in full size to truly appreciate the photography of this artist.

10 Reasons to Ban Gay Marriage 24

Here are the TOP TEN reasons to ban gay marriage (I hear David Letterman’s voice in my head when I read that… don’t you?). Number one….

1. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

.
The Subway Canyon in Zion National Park, Utah.

I chose this picture tonight simply because this is one of my favorite places I have ever been. In my younger years, I used to guide backpack trips through this canyon, as well as The Narrows and Orderville Canyon, for the Sierra Club’s Outings department. I have stood in that exact spot the photographer is standing in many times. LOL… each time I would reach this point, I always had plans to dip down in that crystal clear natural whirlpool. But each time I arrived there, I would find that it was just as cold as my previous visit so I would simply stand there and breathe in the beauty around me.

Government Doublespeak | To deceive and confuse 7

Doublespeak. The deliberate use of ambiguous terms in order to deceive the public, is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and it’s the kind of language we hear constantly on TV. But why does the mainstream media comply with its use?

“Well, that’s what happens when governments transfer the public airwaves to private corporations in a practice known as deregulation. In this environment, reporters lose their autonomy in exchange for military protection, they are co-opted or embedded.

“A war that most nations refused to support becomes the War for Democracy.

‘Game of Thrones’ uses George W Bush’s decapitated head in a few scenes. Some angered. 15

I’m still laughing at this…. Game of Thrones is an American medieval fantasy television series created for HBO by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. According to the National Post, in Season 1 DVD commentary, “The last head on the left is George Bush,” show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss explain referring to a scene where Sansa Stark is forced to look at the head of her decapitated father (Sean Bean, not George Bush, but can you imagine?). “George Bush’s head appears in a couple of beheading scenes. It’s not a choice, it’s not a political statement. We just had to use whatever head we had around.” However, several people have noticed and became angered by this and demanded to know why George W. Bush’s head was in some of the scenes.

Karen Huff Klein: A Victim of Student Bullying on School Bus | The Best and the Worst of Humanity 29

Karen’s Facebook Photo

This video tears me apart to the point it makes me nearly ill to my stomach and my heart truly aches. The atrocious things the students say and do to this woman are completely and entirely vile and inexcusable. Each and every one of these monsters need to be dealt with and given a harsh enough punishment so that they are able to actually feel the pain and torture that they put this poor woman through.

A widower of 17 years, the 68-year-old woman’s name is Karen Huff Klein, and she is a bus monitor at the Greece Central School District in Rochester, NY. While she sits there, several students attack verbally to the point where Karen cries in despair. The bullying includes, but not limited to, physical threats, threats to ransack her place of residence, and cruel comments about her weight and dead mother.

Among the taunts: “Dumb-ass, fat-ass.” “Maybe she is an elephant.” “She’s gonna pick out which kid she’s gonna rape next.” “Karen wants herpes.” “F**king hearing aid.” “I’ll egg your house.” “What’s your address so I can p*ss all over your door.” “I’ll f**king take a cr*p in your mouth.” “You touched her arm flap. It’s all stinky and smelly.” “She probably eats deodorant because she can’t afford real food.” “What size bra are you? Triple sag?”
