New 30 second ad put out… You know, sometimes the truth hurts – and this ad is metaphorically the absolute truth. Romney wants to pick YOUR pockets via increasing YOUR taxes while giving the 1% even MORE tax breaks.

And ladies, be careful. One woman in this video is pretty sure that the Mitt picked her pocket for her birth control. Romney has declared that he will “get rid” of Planned Parenthood. There goes birth control, breast exams and many other women’s health-related exams. I have always, and will always, support Planned Parenthood. They were there for me when I became sexually active at the young age of 16 – thirty years ago.

There is nothing that Obama has done which can hold a candle to Romney’s deceptive nature. If you have been keeping up with the news on Romney, I’m sure you can guess at least one of the two.

Recently, the current COO of Chick-fil-A, Dan Cathy, has declared publicly that he is opposed to same-sex marriages. On July 16, Cathy appeared in The Baptist Press:

“We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit,” Cathy said. “We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.”

I was shocked! Completely shocked and appalled to read that a black couple – not a bi-racial, not a same-sex couple – a black man and woman were denied by the congregation to be wed in the Baptist Church they attended.

The Wilsons attended a predominantly white First Baptist Church of Crystal Springs, MS, but were not actually members of the church. The wedding day was set, invitations sent, but the day before the wedding was to take place, the pastor of the church gave Charles and Te’Andrea Wilson the shocking bad news.

“The church congregation had decided no black could be married at that church, and that if he went on to marry her, then they would vote him [the pastor] out the church,” said Charles Wilson.

Another goodie found on Facebook! I know many of you are anti-Facebook, and I can certainly understand why. I am not on there much for socialization myself, but I do find some GREAT material and info on there – and some very liberal and intelligent pages and links. Here is one I just saw come across my wall from the FB Page, “Whiskey and the morning after blog.” Since I don’t know the name of the owner of the page, I will just call him “Whiskey.” Apparently Whiskey went on a little rant recently and many of his followers loved it so he created this little graphic which includes his rant:

“I propose, in order to ‘protect the sanctity of marriage’ that we institute a 3-year waiting period from the time of your engagement until a marriage license is issued. Once married, you must wait 5-years from the time you separate until you divorce and you are forever barred from getting married again…”

I honestly, and embarrassingly, was completely unaware of another oil spill that occurred in a creek which leads into the Kalamazoo River in Michigan. On and on people go. Either loving or hating this new act, also known as Obamacare. Yet I seriously doubt anyone has even read even a portion of it. Our system is broke, except for those who make enough money to cover the rising cost of premiums as well as the deductibles and the portions not covered by the insurer. I have heard many people retort, “this is the first time someone is being taxed for NOT buying something,” – and they have a point, but a different perspective puts a completely different look on this whole tax penalty.

According to a report from the Department of Education, the number of homeless students in the U.S. topped one million for the first time during the 2010-2011 school year. The number includes students enrolled in public preschool through 12th grade, and as the Orlando Sentinel pointed out, “the figure actually underestimates the number of homeless children by excluding infants, toddlers, preschool-aged children who aren’t enrolled in public programs and homeless children who are home-schooled.”

Walgreen’s Pharmacist Refused to Fill a Woman’s Birth Control Because it was “Against His Religion” ¹⁴

Recently a pharmacist at the Walgreens Pharmacy at 10300 Central Ave SE in Albuquerque, NM, refused to fill customer Susanne Koestner’s prescription for birth control because it was “against his religion.” The ACLU of New Mexico has stepped in and posted a petition online for those of you who would like to sign it.

The American Civil Liberties Union of New Mexico says Koestner’s difficulty getting birth control medication amounts to sex discrimination because Mononessa is a contraceptive for females.

ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson says fears about climate change, drilling, and energy dependence are overblown.

Overblown? Are you serious?

In a speech Wednesday, Tillerson acknowledged that burning of fossil fuels is warming the planet, but said society will be able to adapt.

Yes, we will be able to adapt. However, many people’s version of adapting is on the other end of the spectrum from Tillerson’s idea of adapting. Tillerson, in a break with predecessor Lee Raymond, has acknowledged that global temperatures are rising. “Clearly there is going to be an impact,” he said Wednesday. “We have spent our entire existence adapting. We’ll adapt,” he said. “It’s an engineering problem and there will be an engineering solution.”

Mitch McConnell Cannot Answer How GOP Will Help 30 Million People ²¹

Since the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Health Care Act (aka “ObamaCare”), ~~Republicant’s~~ Republicans and Tea-~~Baggers~~ Partiers alike have all been scrambling to come up with logical-sounding ~~lies~~ reasons as to why this new act is the most horrid thing to happen to our country. Since several of the SCOTUS judges are pretty much informally known to have been bought by certain people and companies (cough cough Koch Brothers cough cough), I am pretty sure that the GOP was confident that the Supreme Court would render an unconstitutional verdict, thus repealing one of the biggest, and most welcome, changes in health care that we have had in decades. Is the AHCA perfect? I am positive it is not. But it is a start. What we have been doing is not working, so it’s time to change. And the AHCA is modeled after one of the most successful health care systems in the world – in Switzerland.

Oh, to have been a fly on the wall of several peoples rooms and offices when this announcement came out.

Private prisons are the biggest shame of our country – to profit off of the incarceration of people. No other country in the world makes any type of profit from their prisons. But here, the value of stocks depend upon the number of people locked up in our private prisons.

Now, Louisiana now holds the world record as the state imprisons more people per capita than any other state or country in the world, with one out of every 86 adults behind bars. Its rate of incarceration is three times higher than Iran’s and 10 times higher than Germany’s.

Michigan HB No. 5713: “The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act” ⁶

Previously, I had posted an article called, “Michigan’s Abortion HB 5711 is NOT as bad as Jezebel and HuffPo make it out to be” which centered on the fact that the information provided in an internet posting by both Jezebel and Huffington Post provided incorrect information. That is still true. However, the bill that both of these sites should also referenced is the Michigan HB No. 5713, which is also known as the “pain-capable unborn child protection act.” This bill makes it illegal to abort a child once it reaches 20 weeks in utero based upon the premise that the fetus may then feel pain. Here is the specific wording:

(4) A person shall not perform or attempt to perform an abortion upon a pregnant individual if it is determined that the unborn child has a probable postfertilization age of 20 or more weeks, unless in the reasonable clinical judgment of a physician the abortion is necessary to avert the pregnant individual’s death.

(5) A person who violates this section is guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 15 years or a fine of not more than $7,500.00, or both.

Memorial Day | Just in case you thought it was National BBQ Day ¹⁹

I must admit, in years past, especially in youth through young adult, Memorial Day was nothing more than a three-day weekend, barbeques, picnics and fun. And it still is… to an extent. For me, this year Memorial Day just feels different. I am opposed to war. Especially the one in Afghanistan right now. It seems as though we have lost the reason as to why our troops are there. How is our ~~invasion~~ presence helping protect America? Is that not what our military is for? To protect our country? It seems to have evolved into something else. Personally, I think the War on Terrorism is nothing more than a scare tactic being used on the US citizens in order to justify being in Afghanistan. But this post is about Memorial Day, so with that I will move on.

Anti-NATO protestors gathered near McCormick Place, the site of the largest NATO summit in the organization’s six-decade history. There were thousands of protestors, and not just Occupy Movement protestors. These were people from all walks of life, all types of backgrounds who joined together to protest one of the most powerful alliances in the world.
