Wow. It’s been several months since I’ve posted dog and cat humor. Time sure flies, and my doggie-funnies folder needs to be thinned out a little bit. So here goes…. More…
Well, technically, this isn’t my dog. He is here while his parents are gone out of town. His name is Wilson, and he is an Irish-marked Portuguese Water Dog. He has definitely let us know he has a voice and often (too often) demands to be heard. Today, however, he made a noise that I have never heard a dog make so I had to get my camcorder and hope he wouldn’t stop. More…
I’m a dog-lover and just wanted to pay homage to one of our former first dogs, Barney Bush, an adorable black Scottish terrier owned by former President George “dubya.” Barney was 12 and died after a battle with lymphoma. That is still a respectable age, and definitely lived a loved life. More…
Okay, cat-lovers… this one is for you! And anyone else who likes a good chuckle. Here are some great photo-kitty-captures of cats being cats. Flying through the air, making funny faces, twisting their bodies in odd ways, and so on. Basically doing crazy stuff but it looks like they’re doing real stuff…. but the “stuff” is all invisible. You’ll see. More…
Funnies to Start the New Year with
Laughter is always the best medicine, so why not start this new year, 2013, off with some smiles and chuckles. Nothing political – well, one kind-of is but not really. Please enjoy. Don’t forget to comment on which is your favorite on your way out!
.“Shhhh… If I’m real quiet, maybe they won’t see me.”
Meet Yoda. The cat born with four ears.
I have a few other “Motley” sites, but with a busy life like most people, you know, that wonderful thing we call “work”, I simply do not have the time to keep up on all of them, except one other besides Motley News. It is Motley Dogs.
Those who have been hanging around ol’ Motley News here for a while knows that dogs are a huge part of my life. But even then, Motley Dogs was put on the back burner for several months. I started to give Motley Dogs a “face lift” (a new layout and theme), but just could not seem to find the time needed to complete this task until just recently, so she is now done. Although last night I just about gave myself a heart attack.
This is my dorky dog that I call “Dork.” Imagine that. He’s a dork. When I go to bed, or am lying down watching TV in my bedroom, Dork likes to sit in front of the mirror and watch me via the reflection. It’s actually rather amazing because he is what’s called a “lethal white” Aussie. Born completely deaf and blind in one eye. His distant vision is not that great. Hmmm… Now that I think about it, I wonder if it is clearer because the image of me is actually only a foot away when looking at my reflection. Whereas if looking directly at me, I’m about 5 or 6 feet away. Thoughts?
His eyes met mine as he walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into our kennels. I felt his need instantly and knew I had to help him. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly so he wouldn’t be afraid.
As he stopped at my kennel, I blocked his view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn’t want him to know that I hadn’t been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn’t want him to think poorly of them.
Recently a human has discovered a long hidden set of rules passed on from one cat to the next. This rare discovery answers the frequently asked question, “Why did my cat do that?” Now for the first time ever, the “cat’s rules” are now published and available for all human use. Study and learn the ways of the house cat. The mysteries of their behavior will all start to make sense.

A wide variety of animals featured here. Some are wild, some are pets, some rescued, some at the zoo…. So get your “awwww’s” all ready to go because there are a few of them.
But they should all at least make you smile.
Photo credits are completely unknown. These images were sent to me via email from a friend. I have seen a few of them roaming around the internet, but still do not know who took those either.
Remember the “Ultimate Dog Tease”? The video that most deservingly went viral last year? You know… the one about a man telling his dog all about the meat, and bacon, and other kinds of goodies in the fridge. Then he tells the dog that he gave it to the cat, and the dog cries out in despair. By far, that is the best voice over I have ever seen of dogs – and probably a lot of other voice overs, too. Currently the hit counter is approaching 119 million hits. Oh, sure, not as many as some music performers get when they release a new video, but definitely better.
I have found this video to be absolutely hilarious! A opossum snuck into someone’s kitchen, probably for food, and was discovered. But the reaction of the family is what is so priceless. Definitely not staged or fake – which is why I like it so much.
Conservatives are easily angered these days. Can’t say that I don’t blame them. I mean, look at who ran in the primaries… Bachmann (hallucinates that god talks to her), Newt (come on… he’s named after a salamander), Cain (9-9-9), Santorum (frothy mixture from fecal matter), Rick Perry (aka Mr Evil), Jon Huntsman (I rather liked this guy – he put Newt in his place once), Ron Paul (grandpa with some die-hard groupies), of course Romney (flip-flop, etch-a-sketch) and a few other non-notables.
Now that many Republicans are coming to realize, and admitting, that Romney is not much more than a joke, Republicans are rather irritable. So why not have some fun with them!
