April 20 – How wonderful! Darius Ewing, who was wanted in connection to the puppy who was burned, has surrendered to the Dallas Police Department. He surrendered to police while a candle light vigil was being held by area animal advocates for the puppy named Justice, who died from his injuries.
The Police Department would like to thank the SPCA of Texas, animal advocacy groups, concerned citizens and Crimestoppers who pulled together to offer a reward in this case.

Today I was sent this story about a dog named Justice, and it brought forth every emotion possible. Primarily, endless amount of rage, enormous pain and sadness. So why post something as deplorable as this story? For one, in hopes that someone will tip the police and the perpetrators will be arrested. But also to bring awareness that torture and cruelty to animals tragically exists. I do not know what the penalties are in the Dallas/Ft Worth area for this type of crime, but many cities and states do not have strong enough punishments to fit the crimes. Look into the facts in your area and help fight for stricter punishments for acts such as this….
Remember the “Ultimate Dog Tease”? It is the video of the talking dog who was upset he didn’t get the meat and bacon – but the cat did – that went completely, enormously, gigantically viral. And for once, it was well deserved. Well, now the Ultimate Cat Tease has been released. Honestly, though, that cat part in the first half is rather (yawn) slow… but the second half featuring the guinea pig. Here it is, so you decide.

‘Giant’ George the world’s largest dog is used to enormous amounts of attention and is all set for more with the release of his new book. Written by his owner, Dave Nasser, ‘Giant George: Life with the World’s Biggest Dog’ charts the gigantic allowances that the 230 pound Great Dane needs daily to get by.

Ugh… another week has started. I am truly one of those people that do not like Monday’s. So what’s a better way to start the work week than with humorous dog photos, some with captions, some speak for themselves.

Since I posted earlier about “Dog,” the motorcycle riding dog, I figured I should give some equal time to our feline friends as well.
Here are some hilarious animated gif’s of cats just being cats. The third one down is my favorite. And what’s the deal about cats standing up like they are here on the hind legs? I don’t recall ever seeing any of my cats doing this.
This dog, whose name is “Dog,” is incredibly amazing! Literally rides behind his master, Gary Miller, on his motorcycle, proudly sporting his goggles and hangs on to Gary “like a backpack.” I know none of my dogs would every be able to accomplish anything like this, plus I would be terrified of them jumping off and hurting themself. It is very easy to see that Gary adores Dog and would never risk any injury to his best friend, and feels that Dog does just fine riding shotgun.
Here is a very well done report about the women’s prison in New Mexico. This report briefly covers the dog rescue and training program, Heeling Hearts. I am one of the original volunteers who helped coordinate and set up this program. I was unemployed during that time, which was back in 2007, therefore I was able to volunteer quite a bit of time then. My dear friend, Lyn, is still in charge of and running the program, so I get keep up with her about what is going on with the dogs and the women in the program.

Willow, Alaska — Sixty-six mushers began their quest to win the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race with the competition’s official start Sunday in Willow.
The mushers and their dog teams will spend about the next eight days traveling across nearly a thousand miles of Alaska wilderness in a sled, all trying to be the first musher to reach the old gold rush town of Nome.
An Albuquerque, New Mexico man says he successfully registered his dog, Buddy, to vote as a registered Democrat in Bernalillo County. The dog owner said he saw a voter registration booth on the University of New Mexico’s campus a few weeks ago and decided to see how easy it would be to register his dog to vote.
Ahhhh… pure contentment.
