Last night when I posted about the protests at the Westminster, I also included the image below which has the blurred out dog in the middle. The original image was not blurred out but featured a cute little puppy. Today, I received an email from a very kind woman, who I will call “Jayne Dough”, who informed me that she originated that graphic by using a photo of a puppy she found on the internet.
First, though, the winner of Best in Show was the Toy Group winner, a Pekingese: Ch Palacegarden Malachy. My house mate, Lyn, was pleased with the decision, and apparently she knows the owner of the Peke. Lyn said the dog was very deserving of the win, and since Lyn is the professional in this household, I will take her word for it. Personally, I thought Malachy looked like an alien. I was rooting for the Dobie. Now, on to the protests, both Dogs against Romney and the PETA women who barged into the show ring with signs….
Well, just about to tear down my system for the day. Kind of painful since I’m so addicted to the internet, blogging, photography and graphics. But I will be back online later tonight. I am moving into my dear friend Lyn’s house. The lady who is a professional dog-everything.
The longest domestic cat is Mymains Stewart Gilligan (Stewie to his furr-ends), who is 123 cm (48.5 in) long. He is owned by Robin Hendrickson and Erik Brandsness (USA) and was measured on 28 August 2010.
McDonald’s very foolishly ran a radio ad in the midwest which said, “Trying a brand new menu item at McDonald’s isn’t risky. You know what’s risky… petting a stray pit bull…” Naturally, this created an outburst from the owners of pit bulls, formally known as American Staffordshire Terrier or the Stafforshire Bull Terrier in England. Especially angry, and rightly so, are those owners which rescued a stray or an abandoned pit.
In this extended version of VW’s 2012 Game Day commercial, the sporty, all-new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle inspires Bolt the dog to get in shape, and an intergalactic superstar makes a surprise appearance.
Too cute! When you think it may be over, keep watching.
I came across this photo somewhere on Facebook so I have no idea where it originated. I basically just had a field day with it. What in incredible photographic capture! And with the glowing eyes, it was a flash in the dark shot. They were busted!
Which is your favorite? Any other ideas??? More…
Just so happens that a man fishing solo off of the Siesta Key Coast in the Gulf of Mexico was running a camcorder of his fishing. I am assuming it was to hopefully film a nice catch, and since he was fishing alone, he had to mount the camera and keep it running. Well, what he did not expect to catch was a dog… swimming alone and completely terrified.
Loukanikos — the word means sausage in Greek — has showed up for numerous demonstrations in Athens over the last few years. Here are some photos taken of him. More…
A dog-agility friend of mine sent me this in an email earlier. Of course, it is posted on my Motley Dogs site, but these are too good not to post here. I must admit… I can identify with nearly all of these (I do not have asthma – so cannot relate to that one.)
Man’s best friend have their own words to carry, and here are some of them… More…
Richard Moyer told abc27 News he was letting in the dog at around 3 a.m. when the bear rushed through a patio door and jumped on him. He suffered injuries to his head, face and arms.
Here is an excerpt from Michael Hingson, who is blind, about his faithful guide dog, Roselle, who led him down 78 flights of stairs in Tower One of the World Trade Center on that fateful date of 9/11/2001.
“It is strange for me to be writing this article while I have feelings of both sadness and joy in my heart. Nevertheless, it is something which must be done.
The Animal Planet’s show “Pit Bulls and Parolees” was scheduled to shoot an episode on July 28th at the women’s prison in Grants NM about the rescue program, “Heeling Hearts.” I just received word today that the Animal Planet canceled because they feel that filming such programs in a women’s prison will not draw as many viewers as the same type of program in a men’s prison.
Just a fun, feel-good video I compiled of footage I took on the day my dogs went to work with me. The dog in the red coat is what is known as a “lethal white.” He was born completely deaf and blind in one eye, which is a typical result of merle-to-merle breedings in Australian Shepherds. The other dog is his mother. I rescued them as a pair. You will see me use several hand signals and touch commands with him, many are subtle. The most common is a tap on the nose is his command to sit.

“The mission of explore.org is to champion the selfless acts of others, to create a portal into the soul of humanity and to inspire life long learning. The most important thing for me is to create a portal into the soul. What is the easiest way to do this? Through dogs – they see our soul like no other. That is why as we build dog bless you, I believe that it’s mission should be to “champion the selfless acts of animals.”
The initiative aims to spread awareness about the healing role dogs can play in the lives of those suffering from PTSD.
Dog Bless You was founded by filmmaker Charles Annenberg Weingarten, a trustee of the Annenberg Foundation and also the founder of Explore.org. Partners in this effort include the IAVA (Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America)and other veteran and service dog organizations.
His owners were able to scramble to the safety of their basement with their other dog before the tornado severely damaged their house. After days of searching, sign posting, and internet hunting, the heartbroken family came to the sad conclusion that Shadow had perished.
Outside Seattle WA, a man was in the woods with his dog playing when a horrific accident occurred… a large stick was impaled directly through his dogs heart. The dog survived…. Watch here.
