See Who Voted “No” to the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) 23

On Thursday, the House finally reauthorized the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) after waiting for around a year-and-a-half. Finally. The bill was originally passed in 1994 and has been re-approved twice since in 2000 and 2005. What is different about this time? Because three new specifics have been added which include protection for Native Americans, members of the LGBT community, and undocumented immigrants.   More…

NM Rep Cathrynn Brown Slaps All Women in the Face | Her Contact Info Found HERE 21

Sick. Absolutely sick. This whole bill has literally made my stomach turn and makes me feel like I want to throw up.

New Mexico House Bill 206, introduced by state Rep. Cathrynn Brown (R), has this added section:

B. Tampering with evidence shall include procuring or facilitating an abortion, or compelling or coercing another to obtain an abortion, of a fetus that is the result of criminal sexual penetration or incest with the intent to destroy evidence of the crime.  More…

101 Facts from A(llyson) to Z(oe) About the 100 Women Now in Congress 11

When the 113th Congress was sworn in last week, a new record was set. There were a total of 100 women between the House and Senate. The House of Representative brought forth 80 to join the 20 from the Senate. A record. Slowly the good ol’ white boy network is being whittled away – as it should be.  More…

Uterus property of Hobby LobbyOklahoma City-based Hobby Lobby, and it’s sister company Mardel, Inc., will defy a federal law that requires employee health care plans to provide insurance coverage for types of contraception that the firm’s owners consider to be “abortion-causing drugs and devices,” an attorney for the company said Thursday. Hobby Lobby has decided that providing birth control, specifically Plan B, or the morning after pill, to their employees through their insurance is in violation of their religious freedom under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA).

Mourdock, Akins are out! Do NOT Declare a War on Women! 13

Todd Akins conceding

This news was almost as good as Obama winning.

Todd Akins is the Missouri Republican congressman who informed a reporter that a woman’s body can prevent pregnancy after a “legitimate” rape. What’s even more sweet is that Akins was ousted by a woman. Senator Claire McCaskill (D) took his seat.

Richard Mourdock, the Indiana GOP U.S. Senate candidate, fell on his face for basically the same reason. Mourdock declared that he opposed aborting pregnancies conceived in rape because “it is something that God intended to happen.” Joe Donnelly (D) took his seat.

An Update on Kody Maxson Alleged Extortionist of Amanda Todd 9

After a whirlwind of several days watching the chaos ensue on the internet, there is a possibility that Kody Maxson may not the person that blackmailed Amanda Todd. I’m sure very few people would openly admit it, but other items have surfaced. Patrick McGuire, a reporter on another website, Vice, actually took some very detailed steps in digging up who Maxson is after McGuire, like myself, published nearly identical stories.

The best thing to do is to jump over to the Vice website and check out all the details yourself. There are some very interesting items there and a lot of time and effort put into his work. Do I think Maxson extorted Amanda? It will be difficult to determine a true answer, and I have thought that from the beginning since the purported victim is deceased. But common sense dictates that Maxson loves under aged girls. No one is going to be on these types of sites, like Jailbait, and also the user name kody1206 was called “Blackmailer of the Year” by “The Daily Capper,” unless they are participating in the same manner.

Paul Ryan Calls Rape a “Method of Conception” 13

In his exact words, Paul Ryan who is running as Vice President with Mitt Romney, stated that rape is a “method of conception” in an interview in August. So what happened to the main stream media coverage? They’ve been eating this anti-women stuff up!  Huffington Post picked up the story a week after the interview, then dropped it. There are a few other sites which have a posting about it, such as Raw Story, Gawker, Examiner, and a few others. I happened to have found it on Facebook having been posted by a women’s rights page called, “One Million Vaginas.”

“Being Poor Is….” The Voices of America 16

This is a list of “life occurrences” people have actually been through which almost always applies only to those who are living in poverty. Where these originally came from, I do not know, but these came from another WordPress site called “Whatever” by John Scalzi.  After Whatever‘s list, there are hundreds of comments of people sharing their own experiences, so I have to wonder if this is not unlike a “chain-list.” A list that started with just a few items, then grew and is continually passed on just as I am doing now. Each and every passing alters and changes it somewhat by removing a few and adding in some from the comments. Every voice deserves to be heard. And please, if you have some to share, please do so in the comments.

My response to a comment left for me from Delegate Bob Marshall’s Staff (R-VA) 21

…Real quick, just wanted to mention something completely unrelated… Motley News passed the one million hit mark the other night! Look to the right here ——>>

The Scenario

Last week I had posted an article called “Republican Delegate: Disabled Children Are God’s Punishment for Abortions” in which I quoted this statement, as well as a few others, made by Virginia Delegate Bob Marshall in regards to defunding Planned Parenthood:

“The number of children who are born subsequent to a first abortion with handicaps has increased dramatically. Why? Because when you abort the first born of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children.”

Republican Delegate: Disabled Children Are God’s Punishment for Abortions 25

Are you raising your eyebrows like I am? Republican Virginia State Delegate Bob Marshall – who previously opposed a gay judge nominee by stating “Sodomy is not a civil right” – said at a press conference in 2010 that god is taking “vengeance” on parents who have had abortions by making their other children disabled:

“The number of children who are born subsequent to a first abortion with handicaps has increased dramatically. Why? Because when you abort the first born of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children.”

Hustler’s Larry Flynt: Offering $1 Million for Romney’s Tax Returns! 13

Larry Flynt

I love it! Flynt… you ARE the man! To all hackers, disgruntled ex-employees and accountants of Romney’s, and as well as insiders… Hustler Magazine Publisher Larry Flynt is offering up to $1 million for Mitt Romney’s tax returns and other financial information, such as off-shore bank accounts.

Just like many Republicans before him, Romney is not a fan of porn – even though one of porn’s most famous names is a big fan of Romney, or at least of the tax rate she thinks she’ll have under Romney. Porn star Jenna Jameson endorsed the Mormon candidate, saying “When you’re rich, you want a Republican in office.”

Ann Romney has the gall to say “Women, you need to wake up!” 4

Click on image to enlarge. She’s kinda scary looking in this photo.

Ann Romney spoke to a largely female audience at a “Women For Mitt” rally in Findlay, Ohio, today. Ann is out pleading to women to support and vote for Mitt as the numbers are showing the harsh reality of what Romney has done to the women in this country.

Tea Party Tom Smith (R-PA) States Pregnancy from Rape and Out-of-Wedlock are Similar 7

Here we go again. Another far right wing Republican, Tom Smith, who hails from the Tea Party was caught a bit off guard at the Pennsylvania press club luncheon Monday afternoon. The hot topic these days – and rightly so – are whether or not a woman should be allowed to legally abort a pregnancy if it resulted from being raped. Now, following Todd Akins “women stop ovulating when being raped” theory, Tom Smith from Pennsylvania has put his foot in his mouth by stating that a pregnancy from rape is similar to a pregnancy from an unwed mother.

Rep. Todd Akin’s Rape Theory Originated from a Nazi Study 13

Todd Akins by DonkeyHotey

“Legitimate rape.” Every since Senate-hopeful Tod Akin (R-MO) said those infamous words, the media and people all over have blown up. When Akin claimed that women’s body “shut down during rape,” he mentioned that this information was from doctors. That had me wondering from that very moment… either Akin’s was flat out lying, or there is some quack out there. Come to find out that it’s neither.

“Legitimate Rape” as sang by the Raging Grannies 5

The Raging Grannies are awesome! Here is where Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney are going wrong. Ryan, with his budget plan that eventually will wipe out social security and medicare, assumes that the elderly now do not care since it won’t affect most of those over. You are so so so wrong, Ryan.

Then, without prior waring, Representative Todd Akin (R-MO) spewed out the most absolutely ridiculous statement statement I’ve ever heard, about women’s bodies will shut down to avoid becoming pregnant will be raped. Oops, pardon me… “legitimate” rape. (Is there such a thing as “illegitimate” rape?”

PETITION against Rep. Todd Akin (R-MO) on “Legitimate Rape” 20

Recently, Representative Todd Akin (R-MO), a Tea Party-backed candidate for US Senate, recently said:

“From what I understand from doctors, pregnancy [as a result of rape], is really rare. If it’s a “legitimate” rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

Below is a video of the interview. Akin is now back-peddling and trying to claim that is not what he meant. Well, it appears to me that is EXACTLY what he meant. It wasn’t a slip of the tongue… he carefully and precisely chose his words.

WARNING: Mitt Romney is a Pickpocket! 2

New 30 second ad put out… You know, sometimes the truth hurts – and this ad is metaphorically the absolute truth. Romney wants to pick YOUR pockets via increasing YOUR taxes while giving the 1% even MORE tax breaks.

And ladies, be careful. One woman in this video is pretty sure that the Mitt picked her pocket for her birth control. Romney has declared that he will “get rid” of Planned Parenthood. There goes birth control, breast exams and many other women’s health-related exams. I have always, and will always, support Planned Parenthood. They were there for me when I became sexually active at the young age of 16 – thirty years ago.

Lest We Forget, the States that are Going Backwards with Women’s Rights 12

It is time for a reminder on which states and what they’re doing against women and their reproductive rights. The War Against Women erupted practically overnight earlier this year and millions of people, both women and men, stood their ground against the far right wing’s bills and laws which heavily undermine a woman’s right to making her own decisions about her reproduction and abortion. The War has quieted as far as the front-running news, but it most certainly has not been forgotten by women all over the country. So, with this year’s presidential election only three months away, it is time to remind everyone what is going on with the War Against Women and the war’s relationship to Romney.

The Best Statement Made About Rape | Gold Meir’s Curfew for Men 11

Golda Meir was the Prime Minister of Israel from 1969 to 1973. According to the Jewish Women’s Encyclopedia, Meir was, “[a] pioneer, visionary, risk-taker, indefatigable fund-raiser, eloquent advocate, she was an activist of the first order, one of the founders of the Jewish state, a woman whose life story is as central to the mythos of modern Zionism as that of Theodor Herzl, Chaim Weizmann, and David Ben-Gurion. Presidents and kings found her willfulness charming, while her grandmotherly appearance and plain-spoken personal style endeared her to ordinary people around the world.”

Michigan HB No. 5713: “The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act” 6

Previously, I had posted an article called, “Michigan’s Abortion HB 5711 is NOT as bad as Jezebel and HuffPo make it out to be” which centered on the fact that the information provided in an internet posting by both Jezebel and Huffington Post provided incorrect information. That is still true. However, the bill that both of these sites should also referenced is the Michigan HB No. 5713, which is also known as the “pain-capable unborn child protection act.” This bill makes it illegal to abort a child once it reaches 20 weeks in utero based upon the premise that the fetus may then feel pain. Here is the specific wording:

(4) A person shall not perform or attempt to perform an abortion upon a pregnant individual if it is determined that the unborn child has a probable postfertilization age of 20 or more weeks, unless in the reasonable clinical judgment of a physician the abortion is necessary to avert the pregnant individual’s death.

(5) A person who violates this section is guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 15 years or a fine of not more than $7,500.00, or both.
