Chick-Fil-A New Homophobic Sandwich Debuts Today 18

Today is a day which will go down in history for Chick-fil-A… they have released their newest sandwich called the “Queer-Hatin’ Cordon Bleu.”

According to The Onion:

In a press conference to reporters, company representatives said the homophobic new sandwich will include the national fast food chain’s trademark fried chicken filet wrapped in a piece of specially-smoked No Homo ham that would be topped with a slice of Swiss cheese and lathered in a creamy new Thousand Island-based Fag Punching sauce.

Boston and Chicago Speak Out Against Chick-fil-A | Chi-town blocks new store, Beantown Mayor pens letter 52

Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy has received a torrent of reactions, both opposing and supporting, to his recent comment:

“I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say ‘we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage’ and I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about.”

Interactive Website Shows Global Nuclear Locations – Except Those in the US 10

A friend of mine sent me this link today to a site called Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI). It will be best for me to simply quote from their “About” page on who and what this organization is:

“The Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization with a mission to strengthen global security by reducing the risk of use and preventing the spread of nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons and to work to build the trust, transparency, and security that are preconditions to the ultimate fulfillment of the Non-Proliferation Treaty’s goals and ambitions.

Video of James Holmes when 18 years old speaking at a Science Camp 6

Here is an exclusive video obtained by ABC News which shows James Holmes at Miramar College in San Diego discussing “temporal illusions” to students at a science camp. “It’s an illusion that allows you to change the past,” Holmes said in the video. Although somewhat awkward, he is just like any other student giving a speech. Somewhat nervous, but honestly, he did better than I do when speaking to a group of people.

James Holmes, Batman Massacre | The Mind of a Genius, the Mind of a Killer 45

Since waking up to this tragic news yesterday, I cannot get James Holmes out of my mind. Holmes is the man who murdered twelve innocent people in the movie theater in Aurora, CO, who were there to watch the premier showing of the new Batman movie, the Dark Knight Rises. Why did he do this? I cannot stop wondering why. So many questions, so many things left unexplained. Holmes does not fit the typical profile for a mass murderer, other than a high level of intelligence – which is very common among serial killers. It’s the challenge, the game many love. To outsmart and beat the system. However, most serial killers and mass murderers have something in their past which, although may not be enough to raise red flags to the public, indicate some sort of imbalance or traumatic event that forever affects them.

Colorado Theater Killer. One Year after the Oslo Norway Massacre. Coincidence? Or Planned? 43

What a horrible thing to wake up to this morning. I sleep with my television on, so I woke up hearing the news coverage of the shootings on CNN before I even opened my eyes. All day long, as more details come in both about the incident as well as the killer, James Holmes, I become more and more bewildered continually asking out loud to no one, “Why?”

Why?

Michele Bachmann Demands that the Muslim Brotherhood be Investigated 23

Just when I was beginning to think — to HOPE that Michele Bachmann had quietly disappeared into the deep dark corridors of “She who has no common sense,” Bachmann reappears once again like a bad magician. She will not quit, but she is absolutely no good at what she does.

Rep. Michele Bachmann says the Muslim Brotherhood, the international Islamist movement that recently came to power in Egypt, has made “deep penetration” within the U.S. government, and she wants an investigation of its influence within five federal agencies.

The best Mitt Romney meme yet – To Bain or not to Bain 13

Oh, what a tangled web we weave…. Late last week, it has been brought to the public’s attention that there are some contradictions when it comes to whether or not Romney was an active part of Bain Capital after Feb. 11, 1999, when he left to “rescue” the SLC Olympics (by using tax payers dollars).

There have been findings of Romney’s signatures on Bain documents and he is listed as CEO, lone stockholder, etc. If this all comes out to be true, Romney could potentially be brought up on charges of fraud to the SEC.

Therefore… the BEST Mitt Romney meme ever as Romney looks towards Obama as his attorney – and Obama flat out disses Mittens.

Homeless Students Reaches One Million in Numbers 7

According to a report from the Department of Education, the number of homeless students in the U.S. topped one million for the first time during the 2010-2011 school year. The number includes students enrolled in public preschool through 12th grade, and as the Orlando Sentinel pointed out, “the figure actually underestimates the number of homeless children by excluding infants, toddlers, preschool-aged children who aren’t enrolled in public programs and homeless children who are home-schooled.”

Exxon’s CEO “Climate, energy fears are overblown” 15

ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson. Credit: Bazuki Muhammad / Reuters

ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson says fears about climate change, drilling, and energy dependence are overblown.

Overblown? Are you serious?

In a speech Wednesday, Tillerson acknowledged that burning of fossil fuels is warming the planet, but said society will be able to adapt.

Yes, we will be able to adapt. However, many people’s version of adapting is on the other end of the spectrum from Tillerson’s idea of adapting. Tillerson, in a break with predecessor Lee Raymond, has acknowledged that global temperatures are rising. “Clearly there is going to be an impact,” he said Wednesday. “We have spent our entire existence adapting. We’ll adapt,” he said. “It’s an engineering problem and there will be an engineering solution.”

Mitch McConnell Cannot Answer How GOP Will Help 30 Million People 21

Since the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Health Care Act (aka “ObamaCare”), Republicant’s Republicans and Tea-Baggers Partiers alike have all been scrambling to come up with logical-sounding lies reasons as to why this new act is the most horrid thing to happen to our country. Since several of the SCOTUS judges are pretty much informally known to have been bought by certain people and companies (cough cough Koch Brothers cough cough), I am pretty sure that the GOP was confident that the Supreme Court would render an unconstitutional verdict, thus repealing one of the biggest, and most welcome, changes in health care that we have had in decades. Is the AHCA perfect? I am positive it is not. But it is a start. What we have been doing is not working, so it’s time to change. And the AHCA is modeled after one of the most successful health care systems in the world – in Switzerland.

Oh, to have been a fly on the wall of several peoples rooms and offices when this announcement came out.

Heat Wave Melts Metal Newspaper Stand 5

With the heat wave soaring into the three-digits across the country, this is no laughing matter. Power grids are pushed to their limit; many people live without any cooling system; and violent storms with 80-mph gusts toppled trees, cut power lines and killed six people in Virginia alone – also leaving millions of people without power to cool their homes.

Although the extreme heat in and of itself is nothing to scoff at, sometimes humor is all we have to make it through these historic temperatures. Showpaper magazine is a New York-based free bi-weekly print-only publication, which lists and promotes every all-ages & DIY show in the NYC / Tri-state area. They recently installed a melting newsstand in front of the bookstore Printed Matter as the summer heat begins to crank up.

Things You Should Know About Student Loan Debt | Infographic 4

Here is an infographic about student loan facts created by “Rebuild the Dream.” It is mind-boggling to see what students are up against in order to gain a higher education – a college diploma. Our education system has turned into a “damned if you do, and damned if you don’t” choice upon graduating from high school. You are damned if you go simply due to the overwhelming about of debt a student will incur upon graduating. But if a high school grad decides to opt out of a college education because of the cost, then they are forever bound to lower paying jobs and fewer – if any – benefits.

Karen Huff Klein: A Victim of Student Bullying on School Bus | The Best and the Worst of Humanity 29

Karen’s Facebook Photo

This video tears me apart to the point it makes me nearly ill to my stomach and my heart truly aches. The atrocious things the students say and do to this woman are completely and entirely vile and inexcusable. Each and every one of these monsters need to be dealt with and given a harsh enough punishment so that they are able to actually feel the pain and torture that they put this poor woman through.

A widower of 17 years, the 68-year-old woman’s name is Karen Huff Klein, and she is a bus monitor at the Greece Central School District in Rochester, NY. While she sits there, several students attack verbally to the point where Karen cries in despair. The bullying includes, but not limited to, physical threats, threats to ransack her place of residence, and cruel comments about her weight and dead mother.

Among the taunts: “Dumb-ass, fat-ass.” “Maybe she is an elephant.” “She’s gonna pick out which kid she’s gonna rape next.” “Karen wants herpes.” “F**king hearing aid.” “I’ll egg your house.” “What’s your address so I can p*ss all over your door.” “I’ll f**king take a cr*p in your mouth.” “You touched her arm flap. It’s all stinky and smelly.” “She probably eats deodorant because she can’t afford real food.” “What size bra are you? Triple sag?”

Louisiana | The Prison Capital of the World! 7 Times More Inmates than All of China 23

Private prisons are the biggest shame of our country – to profit off of the incarceration of people. No other country in the world makes any type of profit from their prisons. But here, the value of stocks depend upon the number of people locked up in our private prisons.

Now, Louisiana now holds the world record as the state imprisons more people per capita than any other state or country in the world, with one out of every 86 adults behind bars. Its rate of incarceration is three times higher than Iran’s and 10 times higher than Germany’s.

In addition to the dummy of Obama and doll, there is a gay pride rainbow striped flag in Obama’s left hand and an Uncle Sam holding the American flag. Nearby the words “Obama is Killing America” are printed on a trailer.

What does a Zombie, a Skinhead and the Hulk all have in common? 20

So what does a zombie, a skinhead and the Hulk have in common? They’re all in the news. Heehee… a hodge-podge of a weird current news.

‘Zombie attacks’ spread through the Deep South in Florida and Louisiana

Just two weeks after the infamous face-eating attack on the MacArthur Causeway, a Miami man believed under the influence of “Cloud 9″ — a substance police indicated is a form of bath salts — reportedly growled at arresting officers, yelled “I’m going to eat you,” and tried to bite them.

Then we go to Louisiana. Officers had to track down a suspect who had bitten a “chunk” out of someone’s face in Louisiana while “under the influence of some kind of drug.”

Undecillion? That was the first time I had heard that “number.” When searching the definition, some were vague and undecillion basically means a number with a LOT of zeros behind it. Technically, I found the definition to be:

The cardinal number equal to 10 to the 36th power.

Chiefly British. The cardinal number equal to 10 to the 66th power.

LOL… when I was young, a zillion was big! Not anymore.

One man was witnessed literally biting into a man’s face, tearing away the flesh, and chewing….

“Jim Comes Home” – Haunting Pulitzer Prize winning photos and story of the fallen Marine, Second Lt. Jim Cathey 25

In my previous post, “Memorial Day | Just in case you thought it was National BBQ Day,” I briefly discussed my opposition to war, but proclaimed my full support for our troops and those who have sacrificed all they know and have in order to serve a protect our country. As another blogger, Pied Type, commented, “Hate the war, love the warrior,” in six simple words, she so eloquently stated how I feel, as well as millions of others.

Although I have included these two photos in the “…National BBQ Day” posting, I feel they deserve to be recognized and published along with the story as they are more deserving than being lost and overlooked with all the other graphics and images included in that article.

Memorial Day | Just in case you thought it was National BBQ Day 19

I must admit, in years past, especially in youth through young adult, Memorial Day was nothing more than a three-day weekend, barbeques, picnics and fun. And it still is… to an extent. For me, this year Memorial Day just feels different. I am opposed to war. Especially the one in Afghanistan right now. It seems as though we have lost the reason as to why our troops are there. How is our invasion presence helping protect America? Is that not what our military is for? To protect our country? It seems to have evolved into something else. Personally, I think the War on Terrorism is nothing more than a scare tactic being used on the US citizens in order to justify being in Afghanistan. But this post is about Memorial Day, so with that I will move on.

My partner is lying next to me severely wounded and bleeding. I move to him and touch him but he’s not responding. I feel sharp pains in my side and back. I’m bleeding but deal with it and concentrate on comforting my partner and protecting him from further harm.
