Walgreen’s Pharmacist Refused to Fill a Woman’s Birth Control Because it was “Against His Religion” 14

Recently a pharmacist at the Walgreens Pharmacy at 10300 Central Ave SE in Albuquerque, NM, refused to fill customer Susanne Koestner’s prescription for birth control because it was “against his religion.” The ACLU of New Mexico has stepped in and posted a petition online for those of you who would like to sign it.

The American Civil Liberties Union of New Mexico says Koestner’s difficulty getting birth control medication amounts to sex discrimination because Mononessa is a contraceptive for females.

My Chance Encounter with 9/11 Survivor Michael Hingson and his Guide Dog 22

Last September, 2011, I came across an article about Roselle, which was Michael Hingson’s guide dog at the time he was on floor 78 in Tower One of the World Trade Center when tragedy struck on that fateful day of 9/11/2001, and posted the following: “Roselle, the guide dog who saved her blind master in Tower One on 9/11“. Roselle had passed just a few short months prior to my posting of that article last September. Naturally, being the dog-lover that I am, his experience and the incredible bravery and duty Roselle gave was, and still is, very heart-warming and touching to me – which is why I posted about Roselle.

10 Reasons to Ban Gay Marriage 24

Here are the TOP TEN reasons to ban gay marriage (I hear David Letterman’s voice in my head when I read that… don’t you?). Number one….

1. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

Government Doublespeak | To deceive and confuse 7

Doublespeak. The deliberate use of ambiguous terms in order to deceive the public, is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and it’s the kind of language we hear constantly on TV. But why does the mainstream media comply with its use?

“Well, that’s what happens when governments transfer the public airwaves to private corporations in a practice known as deregulation. In this environment, reporters lose their autonomy in exchange for military protection, they are co-opted or embedded.

“A war that most nations refused to support becomes the War for Democracy.

Michigan HB No. 5713: “The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act” 6

Previously, I had posted an article called, “Michigan’s Abortion HB 5711 is NOT as bad as Jezebel and HuffPo make it out to be” which centered on the fact that the information provided in an internet posting by both Jezebel and Huffington Post provided incorrect information. That is still true. However, the bill that both of these sites should also referenced is the Michigan HB No. 5713, which is also known as the “pain-capable unborn child protection act.” This bill makes it illegal to abort a child once it reaches 20 weeks in utero based upon the premise that the fetus may then feel pain. Here is the specific wording:

(4) A person shall not perform or attempt to perform an abortion upon a pregnant individual if it is determined that the unborn child has a probable postfertilization age of 20 or more weeks, unless in the reasonable clinical judgment of a physician the abortion is necessary to avert the pregnant individual’s death.

(5) A person who violates this section is guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 15 years or a fine of not more than $7,500.00, or both.

Michigan’s Abortion HB 5711 is NOT as bad as Jezebel and HuffPo make it out to be 32

I am irritated, disgusted and very disappointed in two website articles posted a day apart with pretty much the same information and opinions. Huffington Posts, “Michigan Anti-Abortion Bill, ‘Most Extreme’ In The Country, Barrels Through State House” and Jezebel’s, “Michigan’s Extreme Anti-Abortion Bill Leads the Nation in Batshittery.” Now, it only takes one glance on my site here to see that I am very pro-women’s rights and pro-choice. But just as I despise FAUX FOX News distorting facts so severely that they become outright lies, I do not condone this same behavior from the liberal side of the political field. From what I have read in these articles versus what I read in the bill itself, HuffPo and Jezebel did the exact same thing that FAUX FOX News does.

Canine Agility Trial Photos | Albuquerque NM 10

Ahhhh… finally. I picked through over 700 photos I took at a local agility trial, trashed the bad ones, then picked out some of the better to process (I shoot in raw format) and here they are. I mean, it’s only been nearly three months since I took them…. (sheepish grin)

Now, for those who are not familiar with canine agility, other than having seen it on TV, it is FUN!!! The dogs LOVE it! And should a trainer start a noobie dog and realize the dog is not interested, nor finds any enjoyment, then the trainer ceases agility with that dog. We never force any of our beloved pets into any sport if they’re not loving it. The idea is companionship, fun, and the challenge of the course as well as racing against the clock as well as other dog’s times in the advanced levels.

GOP Congressional Spokesman Townsend on Facebook, “Let’s hurl some acid at those female Democratic Senators” 19

Jay Townsend

Soooo… how do you deal with female political Democratic opponents? Just hurl some acid at them. No, this is NOT taken out of context. Jay Townsend, who is the spokesman for Rep. Nan Hayworth’s (R-NY) re-election campaign, posted on facebook:

“Listen to Tom. What a little bee he has in his bonnet. Buzz. Buzz. My questions today… when is Tommy boy going to weigh in on all the Lilly Ledbetter hypocrites who claim to be fighting the War on Women? Let’s hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators who won’t abide the mandates they want to impose on the private sector.”

Four Librarians Who Challenged the Patriot Act – and Won 29

Credit: Overlord59

I became so completely engrossed in this article that I have read it thoroughly at least five times now. I wanted to make sure that I completely understood the implications of what is actually occurring here within our own country to our own citizens.

Briefly, with a few excerpts from the story, two FBI agents entered into the Library Connection in Windsor, Connecticut, flashed their badges and demanded to speak to the person in charge. George Christian, who was the Director, appeared as per the agent’s request and the agents demanded “‘any and all subscriber information, billing information and access logs of any person or entity’ that had used computers between 4 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. on February 15, 2005, in any of the 27 libraries whose computer systems were managed by the Library Connection…. He handed Christian a document called a National Security Letter (NSL); it said the information was being sought ‘to protect against international terrorism.’”

“Jim Comes Home” – Haunting Pulitzer Prize winning photos and story of the fallen Marine, Second Lt. Jim Cathey 25

In my previous post, “Memorial Day | Just in case you thought it was National BBQ Day,” I briefly discussed my opposition to war, but proclaimed my full support for our troops and those who have sacrificed all they know and have in order to serve a protect our country. As another blogger, Pied Type, commented, “Hate the war, love the warrior,” in six simple words, she so eloquently stated how I feel, as well as millions of others.

Although I have included these two photos in the “…National BBQ Day” posting, I feel they deserve to be recognized and published along with the story as they are more deserving than being lost and overlooked with all the other graphics and images included in that article.

Memorial Day | Just in case you thought it was National BBQ Day 19

I must admit, in years past, especially in youth through young adult, Memorial Day was nothing more than a three-day weekend, barbeques, picnics and fun. And it still is… to an extent. For me, this year Memorial Day just feels different. I am opposed to war. Especially the one in Afghanistan right now. It seems as though we have lost the reason as to why our troops are there. How is our invasion presence helping protect America? Is that not what our military is for? To protect our country? It seems to have evolved into something else. Personally, I think the War on Terrorism is nothing more than a scare tactic being used on the US citizens in order to justify being in Afghanistan. But this post is about Memorial Day, so with that I will move on.

I am locked and loaded and ready to go! Solar eclipse, here I come! 14

LOL… no, not locked and loaded as in guns, rather photography. This evening, right before sunset is an annular eclipse. Lucky me… Albuquerque is the spot to be! Here are some of the details….

• Sun will be low on the horizon for the event.

• The centerline for the event passes nearly through the Albuquerque International Airport. Any location in the metro area will provide an excellent view of the eclipse.

Rape in the Military is an “Occupational Hazard” 66

Earlier today I went to see the film The Invisible War which is a groundbreaking investigative documentary about one of our country’s most shameful and best kept secrets: the epidemic of rape within our US military. The Invisible War won the 2012 Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival. It is a difficult film to watch, but a very important one. It is the sort of documentary made not only to portray the world, but to change the world. In this case, change can’t come soon enough.

Today is a good day in America. Obama (finally) supports gay marriage. 12

Yesterday, after North Carolina passed Amendment One, which no longer allows civil unions and was created specifically to target same-sex unions, I posted that it was a sad day in America – which it was. To be perfectly honest, I expected that to happen. After all, North Carolina is part of the Bible Belt where people believe the text in the bible overrides our Constitution – even though many Christians, especially in the Bible Belt, pick and choose what they wish to force on others. After all, in the bible, it is permissible to own slaves as well as sell your own daughter. I feel I have made my point here.

It’s a sad day in America. North Carolina’s Amendment One has passed 13

Today our country – which was created as a Democracy – just moved one step closer into evolving into a Theocracy. North Carolina’s Amendment One passed. The law decrees that “marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this State”- meaning that civil unions and potentially other types of domestic partnerships will no longer be legally recognized.

War on Women March, Santa Fe NM April 28 | Photos 21

I would like to share some photos – which are further down this page below the video – that I took in Santa Fe, New Mexico, for the national march protesting the Republican Party’s “War on Women.” Not surprisingly, the GOP is now denying that they are waging any war on the women in our country. How can they not see what is as plain on the nose on our faces? Because extreme right wing conservatives believe firmly in a hierarchical system. Men are at the top. Excuse me… white men. Followed by white women… about 5 steps behind, pregnant and getting ready to cook their dinner. Any one else is of little to no importance to them – unless they serve a purpose as Allen West does in Florida.

Therefore, what better way to celebrate my 1,000th post but with a bunch of funny photos, some with captions, some with my comments above the photo, and a few animated gif’s thrown in there.

You are to determine which is the lie. Now some of you may recognize a few of the truths in my list since I have talked about them before – but that just eliminates a few truths. So you still have to figure out which is the lie.

My Mother Died from Mad Cow Disease in the US in 1986 38

I am so hopping mad, I am only able to see red right now….

I just finished watching Elizabeth Cohen on CNN tell how there has never been a case of a human contracting Mad Cow Disease in the United States. Well, Ms. Cohen is wrong. My mother died of the human form of Mad Cow Disease, otherwise known as Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease (aka CJD), in 1986. The only time she had set foot outside of the United States was for a one-week trip to Austria in the late 1970′s. She was born and raised in Indiana, lived for a short period of time in Arizona, and never anywhere abroad.

On April 28th, just a few short weeks away, is the march for the War on Women. In every state capitol throughout the country, and perhaps other major cities, women and men alike will unite in a march to protest all these insane bills. Bill which are appearing like cockroaches that allow the state’s governments to gain control over women’s uterus’. Happy Birthday to Motley News! One Year Old Today!! 32

What a year this has been for me and blogging. One year ago today I never expected to go where I have now gone in the blogosphere. I actually started a few attempts with Blogger and tumblr. Both sites were named after one of my dogs, “Dork”, who is a “lethal white” Aussie. Born completely deaf and blind in one eye, he is a genetic failure due to breeding a merle to a merle patterned dogs. I will still occasionally post an image on tumblr.
