Bagelheads | Japan’s Hot Trend of Injecting Saline in Forehead for that “Bagel” Look 8
For the last 20 years Ryoichi ‘Keroppy’ Maeda has been documenting the underground rise in Japanese extreme body modification. Keroppy learned saline infusions in 2003 and brought the idea to Japan in 2007, he has been performing modifications ever since. The ‘Bagelhead’ is currently the hottest body modification, created by injecting medical saline solution into the forehead. The saline solution is injected for two hours and the ‘bagel/donut-head’ look is created by pressing your thumb in the middle of the forehead. Once complete, the modification will last 16-24 hours.

Madrid NM is a very interesting desert town. At one time it was a booming mining community – then it died. In the mid 1970′s, the town was actually listed for sale somewhere around $250,000. No one bought it. Since then, it has slowly come back to life and is now an artists community. Some hippies, as some I talked to specifically refer to themselves as, and those who just prefer to keep to themselves. I love it there. I suppose this is one artist’s creation here. Definitely unique.

I know… this is starting to get a bit old. But, honestly… I have had a lot of fun with this as have so many others. So one last posting (unless something really, REALLY good comes up.)

Today, these internet memes of a photoshopped Lt. John Pike, now infamously known for openly spraying protesters at UC Davis who were peacefully sitting in a line across the sidewalk, have become viral as he now appears is some very famous artwork, as well as humorous scenes.

Baltimore Kinetic Sculpture Race – Human powered works of “art” Reply
Kinetic Sculptures are amphibious, human powered works of art custom built for the race. Each May, the American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM) hosts the East Coast Kinetic Sculpture Race Championship on the shore of Baltimore’s Inner Harbor in central Maryland. The eight-hour race covers 15 miles—mostly on pavement, but also including a trip into the Chesapeake Bay and through mud and sand.
Kinetic Sculpture Racing traces its roots to Ferndale, California in 1969 when artist Hobart Brown upgraded his son’s tricycle into a 5-wheeled pentacycle that was part of a race down Main Street. (Hobart did not win.). The original event, the Kinetic Grand Championship in Humboldt County, California, is also called the “Triathlon of the Art World” because art and engineering are combined with physical endurance during a three day cross country race that includes sand, mud, pavement, a bay crossing, a river crossing and major hills.
