Racism Alive and Kicking in the South | Black Couple’s Wedding Banned by Baptist Church 21

I was shocked! Completely shocked and appalled to read that a black couple – not a bi-racial, not a same-sex couple – a black man and woman were denied by the congregation to be wed in the Baptist Church they attended.

The Wilsons attended a predominantly white First Baptist Church of Crystal Springs, MS, but were not actually members of the church. The wedding day was set, invitations sent, but the day before the wedding was to take place, the pastor of the church gave Charles and Te’Andrea Wilson the shocking bad news.

“The church congregation had decided no black could be married at that church, and that if he went on to marry her, then they would vote him [the pastor] out the church,” said Charles Wilson.

What if George Carlin were President 7

Imagine… George Carlin as President of the United States. Every right-winger would have a heart attack, and every liberal, or semi-liberal, and probably a fair amount of those who are neutral, would all be dancing the “happy dance.” Or dancing just like Obama did which the SCOTUS announced that the Affordable Health Care Act was not unconstitutional…

I know I would be doing this dance…. Now, I am a liberal registered as a Democrat and a supporter of Obama – even though he has done a few things I do not care for. But sometimes a leader needs to go to extremes and basically say “F-you” to those in your way is what needs to be done, and that you’re tired of their bullshit. Carlin would most definitely tell people like Boehner to kiss his ass….

Interesting history to this holiday.

In the United States, Mother’s Day is an annual holiday celebrated on the second Sunday in May. Mother’s Day recognizes mothers, motherhood and maternal bonds in general, as well the positive contributions that they make to society.

Although many Mother’s Day celebrations world-wide have quite different origins and traditions, most have now been influenced by the more recent American tradition established by Jarvis. Traditions on this day include churchgoing, the distribution of carnations, and family dinners.
