My dog makes noises just like a squeaky-toy 2

Well, technically, this isn’t my dog. He is here while his parents are gone out of town. His name is Wilson, and he is an Irish-marked Portuguese Water Dog. He has definitely let us know he has a voice and often (too often) demands to be heard. Today, however, he made a noise that I have never heard a dog make so I had to get my camcorder and hope he wouldn’t stop.   More…

I Rescued a Human Today 17

His eyes met mine as he walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into our kennels. I felt his need instantly and knew I had to help him. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly so he wouldn’t be afraid.

As he stopped at my kennel, I blocked his view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn’t want him to know that I hadn’t been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn’t want him to think poorly of them.

Cute Pup Says “I Love You” and Other Fun Doggie Video Clips 7

This first video is an adorable French Bulldog pup, all dressed in his (or hers?) Christmas sweater. “Frenchie” here surprises his people by saying, “I love you.” LOL… apparently the original has become viral as this was featured on the national news this morning. This one is an upload by “Petsami” and I cannot find the original. BTW… I HATE Petsami’s logo… the cat face with the crossed bones beneath it. Looks like a “death” or “poison” label to me. Anyway, just had to point that out – it’s been bugging me since I subbed their channel.

Photo Story of a Dog Rescue and Other Acts of Kindness and Humanity 30

We all need to take a break from the obstacles in life we encounter daily. Some are easy while others often threaten ones own life or the lives of their loved ones. A failing economy, sickness, poor health care, and a society full of greed, corruption, crime and selfishness can make every day a challenge.

This is when we all need to see that there is compassion and humanity still in existence. Here are a few good acts done from the heart from one stranger to another.

Memorial Day: In Remembrance of Lex and Dusty, two devoted partners in Iraq 7

The date is March 21, 2007 and I was on the job in Fallujah, Iraq when an enemy fired Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) exploded in our midst. I was blasted to the ground. I’m stunned. My head is ringing and my body feels numb. My eyes can’t quite focus on anything.

My partner is lying next to me severely wounded and bleeding. I move to him and touch him but he’s not responding. I feel sharp pains in my side and back. I’m bleeding but deal with it and concentrate on comforting my partner and protecting him from further harm.

Dog Grabs Video Camera and Films his Owners Trying to Catch Him 7

This is too funny. When video recording their pet Spaniel, the owners set the camera down on the floor. Why, I have no clue. But their pooch decided that he wanted his shot at doing some filming and picks it up in his mouth. Fortunately, camera-dog managed to pick up the camera and hold it in just the right position so you see a forward shot of him running around the house playing keep away, and catch glimpses of humans attempting to catch camera-dog.

Let’s Name Her Monica 9

I just could not help myself. Really, I couldn’t. This photo and caption simply deserves a post all to itself. Here we have the former President Clinton, his wife Hillary, and their dog, Buddy… er, I mean, Monica. (Sadly, Buddy died a year after President Clinton’s term ended after being a hit by a car near the President’s New York home.)

A Motorcycle-Riding Dog Named, well… Dog! 10

This dog, whose name is “Dog,” is incredibly amazing! Literally rides behind his master, Gary Miller, on his motorcycle, proudly sporting his goggles and hangs on to Gary “like a backpack.” I know none of my dogs would every be able to accomplish anything like this, plus I would be terrified of them jumping off and hurting themself. It is very easy to see that Gary adores Dog and would never risk any injury to his best friend, and feels that Dog does just fine riding shotgun.
