Occupy Geriatrics | Seniors Shut Down Local BofA 1

According to SF Weekly, on January 5, 2012, a small group of senior citizens between the ages of 69 and 82 successfully shut down a Bank of America in Bernal Heights on Thursday with nothing more than walkers and oxygen tanks. That’s right: No shouting, chanting, tear gas, or window-smashing.

The group, which dubbed itself “Wild Old Women” set up camp right outside the Bank of America (BofA), holding signs in what they were calling “a run on the bank.” More…

Trinity Church Statement on #OWS Protests 2

I posted yesterday about Occupy 2.0 and how Bishop George E Packard was arrested after climbing over a fence to get to Duarte Square. I have to give credit to the Bishop for standing up for the OWS movement like he has been doing.

However, my curiosity was peaked….  Why did OWS specifically choose this lot in an attempt to occupy?  It is private property and owned by Trinity Church, who has told the group that the did not want OWS to occupy their park.  So off to google search I go to find my answer…. More…

On Saturday, a retired bishop was among more than 50 people arrested after the Occupy Wall Street movement stormed another New York City park in an attempt to find a new home.

Former Episcopal bishop George E. Packard was led away in cuffs after climbing a ladder to illegally enter Juan Pablo Duarte Square in the west SoHo neighbourhood of the city during the demo. More…

“Occupy The Future” by Noam Chomsky 1

Noam Chomsky, photo by John Soares

(This article is adapted from Noam Chomsky’s talk at the Occupy Boston encampment on Dewey Square on Oct. 22. He spoke as part of the Howard Zinn Memorial Lecture Series held by Occupy Boston’s on-site Free University. Zinn was a historian, activist and author of A People’s History of the United States.)

Delivering a Howard Zinn lecture is a bittersweet experience for me. I regret that he’s not here to take part in and invigorate a movement that would have been the dream of his life. Indeed, he laid a lot of the groundwork for it.

If the bonds and associations being established in these remarkable events can be sustained through a long, hard period ahead – victories don’t come quickly – the Occupy protests could mark a significant moment in American history. More…

#occupymelbourne woman stripped of tent costume by police, left in bra, panties 1

Last week Occupy Melbourne featured a “Tent Monster” event.  Protesters pitched several tents in the park, then as the police approaced, someone inside popped out their arms and head, and danced around the park wearing their tent costume.

The first video shows the event, and you can even see some of the police smiling even though the joke was on them. More…

Occupy UC Davis calls for general strike on Nov. 28 to shut down CA campuses 2

UC Davis General Assembly

When I entered college at Purdue University in the fall of 1982, the tuition for a full-time student who was a resident of Indiana was less than $800 a semester.  Naturally, there were slight increases over the years I attended, but nothing drastic.  They were comparable to the increase in the cost of living and wages during that period.  I was able to graduate debt-free never having needed to take out any student loans for my college education. UC Davis Photos and Video of pepper spray incident. Are we in a police state? #ows 4

Our country has evolved right before our very eyes into a police state.  Yes, a police state.  Many cringe at these words and deny their existence within our own country, but look at what has been going on.  Our First Amendment’s right to free speech and peaceful assembly is being blatantly denied.  City by city, camp by camp, the police are coming in armed for warfare and using violent tactics and pepper spray on completely unarmed individuals.  Where is our President during all this?  Until recently, I have fully supported Obama, but now, I have some serious doubts as to whether he is acting in behalf of the people of our country – or if he is acting in behalf of those people “behind the curtain” holding all the money and corruption – in other words, the Oligarchs.  Does our president need to be reminded of these very words he spoke by on January 28th in regards to the Egyptian Revolution? Photos / Video of Occupy Wall Street “Day of Action” Nov 17th #ows 1

Today, Thursday November 17th, marked the two-month anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement.  Just 60 days ago, a few hundred arrived at Wall Street to take up camp and occupy the area in protest to the greed and corruption within our government and corporations.  The main stream media refused to cover the inaugural event instead covering such events such as the Tea Party.  Many scoffed and did not believe this would take hold.  Now the media cannot get enough coverage especially since this only brings in more profit.  Look at how this has grown throughout the country with an Occupy movement in nearly every major city, and hundreds of smaller “home towns.”  Not only has this spread throughout the United States, but has taken hold world-wide. Bill O’Reilly: The Occupy Movement is “a failure.” I am so LMAO at you, Bill…. 1

Bill O’Reilly is, once again, creating lies and twisting facts into what he, and FOX News, wants their viewers to believe.

Here is a video from his November 16th edition on Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor.”  Trust me, I had a hard time stomaching the vomit he spewed forth.

#occupyoakland November 2 | Black Bloc anarchy is NOT part of the Occupy Movement 6

Afterthought post-publishing:  As an after-thought after I have published this, I have stated somewhat incorrectly…. The OWS Movement welcomes all groups and people alike.  The Black Bloc is a part of OWS, just as any group.  However, the actions of the Black Bloc during the strike in Oakland does not represent what the OWS movement is about.

The 99 percent were out in force on Wednesday, November 2nd, in Oakland CA.  As many as 10,000 marchers protested income inequality and the big banks that crashed the global economy (and today are more profitable than ever). Schools and businesses closed in sympathy and solidarity, and the march even shut down the Port of Oakland, one of the busiest on the West Coast.

Move Your Money Sat. November 5th: Bank Transfer Day Reply

The Move Your Money project is a nonprofit campaign that encourages individuals and institutions to divest from the nation’s largest Wall Street banks and move to local financial institutions. Little has changed to prevent another financial crisis or to end ‘Too Big To Fail,’ and with Congress unwilling to act, we are encouraging individuals to take power into their own hands by voting with their dollars and no longer contributing to a financial system that has led our country astray. We are a campaign that gives people real, concrete actions they can take to create a more sane, stable and localized banking system. More…

“They Live” a sci-fi movie from 1988 doesn’t appear to be sci-fi anymore Reply

I saw this movie when it first came out in 1988 and loved it!  But back then, it was nothing but Science Fiction.  Now, I no longer see it as fiction but as reality… as non-fiction.  The aliens merely represent the corporations and government in our world today.

Occupy camps an eye-sore? Let’s compare photos… 1

There are many comments from several “concerned” officials – and citizens – that the Occupy camps are “eyesores” and express concerns over sanitary issues.  Many city officials are using these excuses to shut down and remove camps set up within various cities around the world.

Let us take a look and compare these “eyesores” and “unsanitary” camps to other areas around the world which draw in, or have drawn in, grotesque amounts of profit… More…
