The United States is one of the most modern countries in the world, yet we have the largest prison population which is growing rapidly every year. One would think that our country would have the lowest population (per capita) for several reasons, which really do not need to be listed. Sadly, the greed and corruption of our private corporations have taken over, and their main concern is passing laws which are designed to increase the prison population.
