Activists Take To The Trees To Stop Keystone XL Pipeline in East Texas 10

Three pickup trucks of TransCanada’s Keystone XL construction workers are arriving on Highway 2088 outside Winnsboro, Texas. Their purpose? Tear down the trees, clear the brush, flatten the land, and erect a portion of the southern section of the Keystone XL pipeline. This pipeline, if completed, will bring the tar sands from Canada down to the Houston area where it will be refined…. then sold to China and other countries. The Canadian Tar Sands is considered to be the most destructive project on Earth.

All the while the corporate leaders and their lobbyists are continually telling the people that the Keystone XL will provide millions of jobs and stock the United States with oil for many decades to come.

PETA Protests at the Westminster Dog Show 2012 27

Quite a bit of activity today at the Westminster Dog Show which included more than your usual brushing, blowing, pampering and pooping of the dogs.

First, though, the winner of Best in Show was the Toy Group winner, a Pekingese: Ch Palacegarden Malachy. My house mate, Lyn, was pleased with the decision, and apparently she knows the owner of the Peke. Lyn said the dog was very deserving of the win, and since Lyn is the professional in this household, I will take her word for it. Personally, I thought Malachy looked like an alien. I was rooting for the Dobie. Now, on to the protests, both Dogs against Romney and the PETA women who barged into the show ring with signs….

On Saturday, a retired bishop was among more than 50 people arrested after the Occupy Wall Street movement stormed another New York City park in an attempt to find a new home.

#occupymelbourne woman stripped of tent costume by police, left in bra, panties 1

Last week Occupy Melbourne featured a “Tent Monster” event.  Protesters pitched several tents in the park, then as the police approaced, someone inside popped out their arms and head, and danced around the park wearing their tent costume.

The first video shows the event, and you can even see some of the police smiling even though the joke was on them. More…

Okay, one last post of pepper spray cop Lt John Pike meme art 5

Lt John Pike pepper spraying cop and Alfred Eisenstaedt's photo of Sophia Loren cover of LIFE Magazine

I know… this is starting to get a bit old.  But, honestly… I have had a lot of fun with this as have so many others.  So one last posting (unless something really, REALLY good comes up.)

The first 16 photos are my little creations.  Then starting with John Pike holding his version of a “I am one of the 99%” letter is the beginning of other well-made creations of work.  Sorry, but all creators names are unknown, otherwise they would receive credit.

Below the photos are a few videos worth watching.

Several pictures have been circulating today placing Lt John Pike in various famous works of art as well as movies and other scenes. Well, here is an animated gif I just created showing him attacking Gandalf the White…. Perhaps I will make a sequel shortly where Gandalf destroys the evil John Pike.

UC Davis Photos and Video of pepper spray incident. Are we in a police state? #ows 4

Our country has evolved right before our very eyes into a police state.  Yes, a police state.  Many cringe at these words and deny their existence within our own country, but look at what has been going on.  Our First Amendment’s right to free speech and peaceful assembly is being blatantly denied.  City by city, camp by camp, the police are coming in armed for warfare and using violent tactics and pepper spray on completely unarmed individuals.  Where is our President during all this?  Until recently, I have fully supported Obama, but now, I have some serious doubts as to whether he is acting in behalf of the people of our country – or if he is acting in behalf of those people “behind the curtain” holding all the money and corruption – in other words, the Oligarchs.  Does our president need to be reminded of these very words he spoke by on January 28th in regards to the Egyptian Revolution? Iraq vet Sean Olsen, 24, injured in #occupyoakland police raid. Photos. Video. 3

This is horrible.  A young man served our country in Iraq, came home alive only to be taken down by the police of the country of which he served.  The irony of it all.  A very sad state out country has become.

A U.S. Marine veteran is in a critical condition in hospital tonight after being injured by a police gas canister during last night’s Occupy Oakland protests, which saw running battles break out between authorities and protesters as a crowd tried to reclaim an encampment.

Scott Olsen, 24, of Daly City, California, an Iraq veteran and member of Veterans for Peace, suffered a skull fracture and brain swelling after being hit in the head during the riots. Officers had cleared the site of demonstrators around 12 hours earlier in a dawn raid where at least 85 people were arrested.

Occupy Albuquerque Oct 25 2011 | Police move in #occupyburque #ows 6

After President Schmidly, UNM, declared they would not renew the permit that has allowed Coyote Camp to function, several of the protesters formed a circle and stood their ground.  There were too many Albuquerque Police, State Police and SWAT team members that arrived to count.  Fully armed on unarmed, peaceful protesters.  The circle was peacefully arrested, but later in the night, the police used their “strong arm” to break up the 99% crowd which refused to leave.

Here is some footage from last night.  The first video is the circle singing before the arrival of the police.  The second video is the group chanting “Down with Schmidly.”  Then the next two are the police and SWAT team which arrived and pushed the crowd back into the street. Next, originally uploaded by WallStreetZombies, looks to appear to be the police pepper spraying the crowd in the street.  Last video, by MichaelFilmaker, shows the arrests of those in the circle.

Update:  Wednesday afternoon, October 26th, 2011:  Occupy Albuquerque has been told today by UNM that we are NOT allowed to protest on the UNM campus else face arrest.  Not even during normal hours of 7 AM to 10 PM.

A few photos below the videos.  Full set of photos available on here on Motley Photos.

Occupy Wall Street #ows Clean-up postponed Reply

A cleaning planned for the Manhattan park where “Occupy Wall Street” protesters have camped out for weeks has been postponed, a move that averts a showdown between demonstrators and police.

The New York mayor’s office said Brookfield Properties, the owners of Zuccotti Park, told the city late Thursday the scheduled cleaning is off for now and “for the time being” they are “withdrawing their request” made earlier in the week for police assistance during the cleaning operation.

Occupy Albuquerque | Footage as protesters remain onsite post 10 PM curfew Reply

In the wee hours of the morning on Monday, October 10th, shortly after midnight, the New Mexico state police raided the Occupy Albuquerque camp and evicted the protesters to the sidewalk for the night.  Due to some miscommunication with UNM, the wrong permit had been filed and campus could not be occupied past 10 PM.  The group had been camped out for over a week, and in constant communication occurred with all pertinent parties, but UNM and the police decided they needed to move the campers in the middle of a dead sleep.

Occupy Albuquerque Oct 8 2011 Day #8 | Protester arrested | Video Photos 1

Occupy Albuquerque set up camp, now called Coyote Camp, last Saturday, Oct. 1st, on the UNM (University of New Mexico) campus on the corner of University and Central Ave.  During the past week, the campers have received permission to remain on campus, but needed to relocate to another area due to the elderly trees in the vicinity of the original camp.  The move was peaceful, and the new location actually adds more visibility for the protesters.  Today, Occupy Albuquerque combined efforts with an Anti-War protest as they marched down Central Ave.  The local Albuquerque Police Department maintained decorum and actually assisted with traffic control as the march led on.  Once the march returned to Coyote Camp, the police arrived and arrested an individual.   However, once back at Coyote Camp, the police arrived and arrested an individual.   I was not present during the alleged incident and cannot confirm the validity of the news report within this post.

This is a peaceful protest and the actions of one individual, if true as stated in the news footage below, should not reflect upon the group as a whole.

If the alleged incident is NOT true, then this only adds more support to the reasons the 99% are protesting.

Occupy Wall Street turns violent as police use batons on protesters | Video footage 1

Just before 8 p.m. Wednesday, reportedly at the corner of Broadway and Wall Street, a New York Police Department officer appeared to turn on a throng of activists with the Occupy Wall Street movement, hitting them with a baton. A video posted hours later to YouTube shows the officer wielding the baton with two hands — like a baseball bat — as he swings at and strikes the demonstrators. At one point, a woman can be heard shrieking in the background.
