Lately the hot topic in the news is that residents from a good majority of our states have now started on-line petitions requesting secession. Specifically these petitioners are asking to “Peacefully grant the State of [state name] to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government.” When I first caught wind of this story, I laughed loud and I laughed long. Naturally my first thought was a bunch of far right tea-bag conservatives – and racists – are throwing some pretty big tantrums and being a bunch of poor losers. And most of the people who are signing these petitions probably fall into that category. However, I just read an article posted on CBS News that explains some petitions have a bit of a different angle to this whole secession deal.

The Tea Party Taliban. Ignorance is a Choice. 4
HBO has a new series called “The Newsroom” which is fictional but based upon current events in the news and politics. This show is better than watching the main stream media news coverages as the reporting is right on the nose. No holds barred with “The Newsroom.” What the anchor says is very real and very truthful.
So why doesn’t our main stream media cover the news like they’re doing in this episode below? Because they’re chicken. The main stream media is afraid of what will happen if they do go this far and tell it like it really is. In cases like FOX News, they do not care about the truth – their main purpose is to brainwash Americans and feed them lies in order to keep the sheeple in their stable.
Pokin’ Some Fun at Akin and Romney. Plus some Teabonics 7
Here are a couple of videos from a show called “Totally Biased” and they are hilarious – and I mean ROTFLMFAO!
The first video, “Todd Man Out,” is about Todd Akin and his moronic comment that women’s bodies shut down ovulation during rape.
The second video, “Tutors Without Borders,” is targeting those people who are Obama-haters and have their signs to prove it. Problem is, they can’t spell! Sounds like the Tea Party to me. And in honor of this video, I have included some photos of signs with misspelled words, and signs with completely the wrong word used.
Tea Party Tom Smith (R-PA) States Pregnancy from Rape and Out-of-Wedlock are Similar 7
Here we go again. Another far right wing Republican, Tom Smith, who hails from the Tea Party was caught a bit off guard at the Pennsylvania press club luncheon Monday afternoon. The hot topic these days – and rightly so – are whether or not a woman should be allowed to legally abort a pregnancy if it resulted from being raped. Now, following Todd Akins “women stop ovulating when being raped” theory, Tom Smith from Pennsylvania has put his foot in his mouth by stating that a pregnancy from rape is similar to a pregnancy from an unwed mother.
Ireland’s President RIPS into Conservative Radio Host Michael Graham 10
Michael D. Higgins – who was elected president of Ireland last year – is fed up with over-the-top Tea Party rhetoric, and he isn’t afraid to show it. Listen to him call out radio host Michael Graham on everything from health care to foreign policy.
Michael Graham is an American talk radio host, writer, and conservative political commentator. His daily talk show, The Natural Truth, airs on WTKK.
Trust me, you don’t want to miss this one.

Mitch McConnell Cannot Answer How GOP Will Help 30 Million People 21
Since the Supreme Court upheld the Affordable Health Care Act (aka “ObamaCare”), Republicant’s Republicans and Tea-Baggers Partiers alike have all been scrambling to come up with logical-sounding lies reasons as to why this new act is the most horrid thing to happen to our country. Since several of the SCOTUS judges are pretty much informally known to have been bought by certain people and companies (cough cough Koch Brothers cough cough), I am pretty sure that the GOP was confident that the Supreme Court would render an unconstitutional verdict, thus repealing one of the biggest, and most welcome, changes in health care that we have had in decades. Is the AHCA perfect? I am positive it is not. But it is a start. What we have been doing is not working, so it’s time to change. And the AHCA is modeled after one of the most successful health care systems in the world – in Switzerland.
Oh, to have been a fly on the wall of several peoples rooms and offices when this announcement came out.

Private Meeting of Koch Brothers et al Pledge $100 Million to Beat Obama 9
I find this very, very frightening. The power the Koch Brothers have – and so many people do not even know who they are. These are the two that are “men behind the curtain” which are running our Republican Party, and helped fund and motivate the Tea Party. They will stop at nothing when their billions are threatened. Nothing.
According to Huffington Post, at a private three-day retreat in California last weekend, conservative billionaires Charles and David Koch and about 250 to 300 other individuals pledged approximately $100 million to defeat President Obama in the 2012 elections.

UC Davis Photos and Video of pepper spray incident. Are we in a police state? #ows 4
Our country has evolved right before our very eyes into a police state. Yes, a police state. Many cringe at these words and deny their existence within our own country, but look at what has been going on. Our First Amendment’s right to free speech and peaceful assembly is being blatantly denied. City by city, camp by camp, the police are coming in armed for warfare and using violent tactics and pepper spray on completely unarmed individuals. Where is our President during all this? Until recently, I have fully supported Obama, but now, I have some serious doubts as to whether he is acting in behalf of the people of our country – or if he is acting in behalf of those people “behind the curtain” holding all the money and corruption – in other words, the Oligarchs. Does our president need to be reminded of these very words he spoke by on January 28th in regards to the Egyptian Revolution? More…
Bill O’Reilly: The Occupy Movement is “a failure.” I am so LMAO at you, Bill…. 1
Bill O’Reilly is, once again, creating lies and twisting facts into what he, and FOX News, wants their viewers to believe.
Here is a video from his November 16th edition on Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor.” Trust me, I had a hard time stomaching the vomit he spewed forth.

Morgan Freeman, the Tea Party and Racism. Truth hurts. 2
In an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan, actor Morgan Freeman stated, ““The tea partiers who are controlling the Republican party…their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term. What underlines that? Screw the country, we’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man out of here.”
That statement brought out the haters everywhere. And some of the most horrid, ignorant statements I have ever seen in such abundance.
I’m sure this will bring on some strong opinions, but honestly… Morgan Freeman has had the balls to say the plain and simple truth. And the truth hurts.
The Tea Party Defends Wall St. As US Day Of Rage Protests Corruption Reply
Mad Tea Party Tweeters are taking over the #USDOR twitter stream in yet another demonstration in their belief that might makes right. Yes, it’s September 17, the Day of Rage where average citizens are protesting the government’s enabling of the corruption of Wall Street.
Ironically, certain angry patriots who just months ago were claiming that it was American to bring a weapon to their representative’s office in order to send the message “Don’t tread on me!” to the government are now are clogging up the Twitter #USDOR Twitter stream mocking the “liberal hipsters” occupying Wall Street. Here’s a glimpse of comments from one page of the stream (names have been taken out to protect the ignorant, but suffice it to say the world Patriot is featured heavily):
Deadbeat dad Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) MIA in child support court – owes $117k to ex and 3 kids 1
As ThinkProgress reported in July, Tea Party freshman Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL), who relishes lecturing President Obama and Democrats on fiscal responsibility, owes more than $117,000 in child support to his ex-wife and three children. Despite loaning his own campaign $35,000 — and paying himself back at least $14,200 for the loans — Walsh has claimed he failed to make the payments because he “had no money.”

A vote for Bachmann is a vote for a snake oil salesman… 2
I firmly believe each and everyone of us has a choice of our freedom of religion. However, our country was founded on the separation of church and state. When mixing politics and religion, one is only opening up a whole new can of worms. The religious background of any political leader will differ from a significant percentage of the citizens of their country. Therefore, how can one impose their own religious views upon those of others which vary? More…

The London Riots. Is America on its way to a riot like this? Reply
Over the past several days, people have been rioting in the streets of London, looting, injuring others, and creating complete mayhem. Why? Apparently this was incited by the shooting and death of Mark Duggan, a 29-year-old resident of Tottenham. Who is Mark Duggan? In searching various news stories, blog postings, and the like on the internet, who he is depends upon which site you read. Those in defense of his shooting portray him as a thug. Those defending Mark describe him as “a good man. He was a family man.” His fiancee has, according to Guardian.co.uk website, admitted he is “known to the police and said he had spent some time on remand, but denied he was ever imprisoned.” What actually occurred to bring on this shooting? I doubt we will ever know the true, actual facts. The police will tell one story, and the witnesses will state another. Or possibly somewhere in between. This may have been a justifiable shooting, or it may not have been… I do not know. I was not there.
Many articles are portraying him as a “gangsta.” But then, I honestly do not trust a lot of the media. The images of him online do show a gangster persona, but where are other pictures of him? Surely he has not had just three or four pictures taken of him in his life. When possible I prefer to read facts from various viewpoints and usually determine that the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. A significant percentage of mainstream news sites and channels only tell you what they want you to know, not what is actual. Or tell you what they think will bring the views, the hits, the attention, and the money. More…
Tea Party of 35 intimidates peaceful picnic of 18 elderly liberal thinkers in Oregon Sunday 2
From Crooks and Liars website:
“Probably the most disturbing aspect of the multifarious effects of Fox News’ right-wing propaganda machine and its Tea Party offspring is the way it has utterly taken over the lives of so many senior citizens, who lap up every word as the gospel truth and have become increasingly radicalized by talking heads like Glenn Beck.
Even as they project their own intentions onto the likes of the unions, the Fox acolytes and the Tea Partiers have effectively become a brown shirt corps of mean-spirited, vicious thugs. It’s deeply disturbing to watch people in our parents’ generation viciously attacking liberals with increasing venom and violence.
The latest example took place last weekend in the quiet little retirement town of Roseburg, Oregon. It’s a pretty little burg on the I-5 corridor in western Oregon that is mostly populated with senior citizens of various stripes. Via Carla at Blue Oregon, we happened upon this story in the local paper:
‘A small political gathering of about 18 liberal thinkers at River Forks Park Sunday afternoon erupted in conflict when about 35 members of the conservative tea party intruded upon the meeting, waving flags and holding signs accusing the rival group of being communists, Marxists and socialists.
The liberal group — organized by MoveOn.org — decided to leave the park and move its potluck to a nearby home. Members of the conservative group followed, parking at the entrance of a private lane leading to the home to continue their protest.
Roseburg Democrats Dean and Sara Byers said Monday they told tea party members who followed that they were not welcome to drive down the lane to their home.
The Byerses said they got out of their car to stop vehicles from entering the driveway and one tea party member almost ran them over.
Sara Byers said she was so shaken she called 911. She said a Douglas County deputy called about an hour and a half later and said he had been unable to respond because of other incidents. Byers said she was still considering filing a criminal complaint against members of the tea party for harassment.
A leader of the tea party group, Rich Raynor of Roseburg, disputed the liberal group’s version of events.
“They are liars,” said Raynor, director of Douglas County Americans for Prosperity. “That is what communists do.”
Members of the smaller group said Monday they were intimidated by the tea partiers, whom they accused of violating their constitutional right to peacefully assembly.
Roseburg resident Lillen Fifield, 70, called the group’s actions an “act of domestic terrorism” and said she was appalled that a peaceful gathering — mostly of women older than 65 — was interrupted.
“It is not OK to go around and intimidate and threaten people. That is not acceptable in a polite society,” Fifield said.
Conservative organizers defended their actions and said they will continue to protest similar gatherings.
“We were there to find out what they had to say and to bring a notice to the public that this kind of thing was going on. Quite honestly, if they have it again, then we are really going to make it well known,” Raynor said.
Raynor said the group believes MoveOn.org is a communist front and said he would not stand for America becoming a fascist nation.
Sara Byers said she could not believe the meeting was targeted for protest. She said the group supports the middle class and wants to take back the government from the stranglehold of corporations.
She laughed at the accusations of communism and said the two groups actually have more in common than people think.
“I just said, ‘Are you kidding me?’ ” Byers said.
Tea party members posted a 2:46-minute video of the confrontation in the park and added captions.
On the video, heckling members of the larger group celebrate breaking up the meeting.
“That sure did it in a hurry, huh?” a man says. A woman references next year’s election year and shouts, “Sure shows who is going to win! We are!”
As one woman packs up to leave, a man in a leather jacket tauntingly offers to carry her things.
“Do you want me to help? I mean if you are leaving, I’ll help,” the man says in the video. A caption added to the video reads, “I’ll help, just leave! And take your Marxist agenda with you.”
Raynor maintained the tea party’s goal was to attend the meeting and hear what the rival group had to say.
He said the fact that they stopped the meeting and left proves they have something to hide.
Sutherlin conservative Karen Meier said she posed as a MoveOn.org member and infiltrated the group’s meeting prior to the confrontation. She said she found many of the liberals to be pleasant.
“Obviously, they don’t really know what MoveOn is and who it entails,” Meier said.
A MoveOn.org meeting attendee Lorna Hayden of Roseburg said the tea party mischaracterized the nature of the meeting. Still, any group, no matter what its agenda, has a right to be in the park Sunday without being harassed, she said.
Raynor said the tea party never threatened anyone with violence and said no one brought guns to the confrontation. He said he urged his group to be civil but also to stand up against a group they believe is harming America.
“It is not our fault that we outnumber them,” Raynor said. “The philosophy they espouse is not a live-and-let-live philosophy. … I am fearful for my children and my grandchildren.”

That’s it… let’s start brain-washing them while they’re young. In the St Petersburg Times yesterday was an article about a summer camp being held which falls under the umbrella of the Tea Party.
This camp, “hopes to introduce kids ages 8 to 12 to principles that include “America is good,” “I believe in God,” and “I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.”

Margaret Thatcher Bails on Sarah Palin, “She is nuts,” says Thatcher Reply
Sarah Palin is busy on her foreign policy credential tour this year, which means touching down in a foreign country she’s never been to before and knows nothing about, just long enough for a photo op that is good enough to pass for foreign policy experience in the modern day Republican Party. Well, guess what? Not every conservative movement is that cravenly empty. In England, Margaret Thatcher says thanks but no thanks to the hopeful Sarah Palin for a visit and an ally of Thatcher added the scalding truth,
“Lady Thatcher will not be seeing Sarah Palin. That would be belittling for Margaret. Sarah Palin is nuts.”
Here in America, we have to pretend nuts is smart in order not to offend the willfully misinformed who have for some unknown reason identified with nuts, perhaps because they were not warned by those bells of European history about the warning shots of an imperial nutter.
The Independent reports:
There is a brief pause before the bus tour starts again in Iowa, where the first crucial test for would-be Republican runners is to be held – giving Mrs Palin her opportunity to take a glimpse of old England, part of the world outside the USA of which her knowledge is notoriously thin. “I am going to Sudan in July and hope to stop in England on the way,” she said. “I am just hoping Mrs Thatcher is well enough to see me as I so admire her.”
…
Tim Montgomerie, of the ConservativeHome website, said: “When the idea was first discussed nine months ago, it was thought that David Cameron might agree for them to appear at a function at the same time so that they could be photographed, but since then her star has fallen so far that I don’t think even that would be thought necessary. She is an embarrassment for mainstream Conservatives.
“She wants to come to see Margaret Thatcher. She doesn’t want to see Cameron or anyone, because it’s Margaret Thatcher who has resonance with the Republican right.
Yes, because for Sarah Palin, everything is about surface and opportunity. We note that her whirlwind “educational” tour through the Northeast barely left time for more than a 20 minute “visit” of all historical sites, and certainly no room for long strolls through museums and other normal activities for educational tours. “She is an embarrassment for mainstream Conservatives.” You don’t say.
The Guardian UK was a bit more brutal with its “close ally” reporting:
This is what Palin told Christina Lamb in the Sunday Times:
I am going to Sudan in July and hope to stop in England on the way. I am just hoping Mrs Thatcher is well enough to see me as I so admire her.
It appears that the former prime minister has no intention of meeting the darling of the Tea Party movement. Andy McSmith reported in the Independent this morning that Palin is likely to be “thwarted” on the grounds that Thatcher, 86, rarely makes public appearances.
It would appear that the reasons go deeper than Thatcher’s frail health. Her allies believe that Palin is a frivolous figure who is unworthy of an audience with the Iron Lady. This is what one ally tells me: Lady Thatcher will not be seeing Sarah Palin. That would be belittling for Margaret. Sarah Palin is nuts. Thatcher will show the level she punches at when she attends the unveiling of a statue of Ronald Reagan outside the US embassy in Grosvenor Square on Independence day on 4 July. This is what her ally told me:
Margaret is focusing on Ronald Reagan and will attend the unveiling of the statue. That is her level.
Sarah Palin frivolous? Oh, how could you Ms Thatcher! Here in America, when Sarah Palin wants to co-opt Ronald Reagan’s steel spine even though she quit office, we nod and ask, “how high?” and then our press asks tough questions like, “What did you enjoy seeing today?” To which Palin responds by going on a week long screaming tour about “gotcha questions” and our press reports this, lips twitching with contempt but still not daring to say the obvious, leaving the Fox Ministry of Truth’s revisionism mostly unchecked and thereby putting yet another dent in Americas willingness to deal with real problems.
The Palin cult might take a break from their Orwellian attempts to alter reality in order to suit Sarah Palin’s crazy ramblings (that went something like this, “He who there again did seek to say no, you won’t be taking our freedom and he there did ride to say hey, you second amendment ballot fighters, rise up and reload and don’t retreat, say hello!”) to yell unspeakable threats at Margaret Thatcher’s people for her failure to pretend a silly, classless thing is really a sparkling gem, but I’ve a feeling the British can handle the Palin cult.
Queue up for the crazy, the British want none of our cast-offs and they think Sarah Palin is an embarrassment. Once again, a foreign country says what ours will not, but this time it’s not the press, it’s the conservatives. Only in America is Sarah Palin legitimized at any cost.

Politics and the Asch Experiment Reply
Myself, being an armchair politic, have watched the world of politics from home either via the internet or television. I see our “leaders” in government do things that, in my opinion, are completely insane and irrational. Yet, I see many people support and follow their favorite politician and/or political party faithfully. I have to scratch my head and wonder in complete amazement how and why people can actually believe what I’m seeing before my eyes. Then today, I stumbled across a video about the Asch Experiment, and this helps explain perfectly what is occurring.
The Asche Experiment, according to Wikipedia, were a series of studies published in the 1950s that demonstrated the power of conformity in groups. These are also known as the “Asch Paradigm”.
In the basic Asch paradigm, the participants — the real subjects and the confederates — were all seated in a classroom. They were asked a variety of questions about the lines such as how long is A, compare the length of A to an everyday object, which line was longer than the other, which lines were the same length, etc. The group was told to announce their answers to each question out loud. The confederates always provided their answers before the study participant, and always gave the same answer as each other. They answered a few questions correctly but eventually began providing incorrect responses.
In a control group, with no pressure to conform to an erroneous view, only one subject out of 35 ever gave an incorrect answer. Solomon Asch hypothesized that the majority of people would not conform to something obviously wrong; however, when surrounded by individuals all voicing an incorrect answer, participants provided incorrect responses on a high proportion of the questions (32%). Seventy-five percent of the participants gave an incorrect answer to at least one question.
.
Therefore, I have come to conclude that the future of this country, and myself of a citizen of the US, is being built on one fact (although out of many others) that people conform to those around them. People, being social creatures, are in essence followers, and we are often following those who really do not have any business in the lead position. And who knows who our leaders are actually following? “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain…” Should they really be leading? Or are they merely puppets for a stronger, more powerful force behind the curtain?
Activists see this and stand up for what they believe. Isn’t it time that we stop following based upon what those who we consider our peers believe, and start asking our own questions and making our own decisions?
Additionally, my opinion here is not based purely upon this video – but it did help pull things together in my mind. I have always been a people-watcher… forever watching, studying, and learning about the behavior of people. I have watched my friends in larger social circles conform to those who hold a more leadership position – and on occassion, what goes through my head is, “wtf…”
I know that I, myself, have fallen into this following pattern simply due to the fact that I have always been led to believe that if it’s in the media, it must be true. Now, especially in this incredible age of the internet, I see that the news often will only give you the information they want you to know… and the general public follows along like sheep believing everything they’ve been fed.
I implore you to seek out other channels of news, media… gather information, and come to your own conclusions. Stop following, but rather, become more of a participant – standing up for what you believe, and not always believing everything you hear.
