This has always been one of my favorite routines of George Carlin. As always, his comedy holds the truth.
This was from his appearance at Comic Relief in 1986.
I am coming across some very strange stuff today. I suppose I’m taking a bit of a break from politics for a day. Well… maybe. Day is not over yet. I just posted a little while ago about a video game between pigs and humans. And now… a rabbit that herds sheep.
The Playing with Pigs project is researching the complex relationship we have with domesticated pigs by designing a game. Designing new forms of human-pig interaction can create the opportunity for consumers and pigs to forge new relations as well as to experience the cognitive capabilities of each other. The game is called Pig Chase.
A New York Giants Super Bowl victory celebration turned ugly at UMass Amherst late Sunday night. After the Patriots lost, police say about 1,500 students rioted in the southwest residential quad area, leading to 14 arrests. Police used flash bombs, horses, and some sort of non-lethal ammunition to subdue the rowdy students.
After the scene was contained, students tried to riot again; but were quickly stopped.
McDonald’s very foolishly ran a radio ad in the midwest which said, “Trying a brand new menu item at McDonald’s isn’t risky. You know what’s risky… petting a stray pit bull…” Naturally, this created an outburst from the owners of pit bulls, formally known as American Staffordshire Terrier or the Stafforshire Bull Terrier in England. Especially angry, and rightly so, are those owners which rescued a stray or an abandoned pit.
Yes, that’s right. A temple full of rats, numbers estimated anywhere between 15,000 to 20,000. It may sound like a nightmare from the New York City subway to some, but in India’s small northwestern city of Deshnoke, this is a place of worship: Rajastan’s famous Karni Mata Temple.
This ornate, isolated Hindu temple was constructed by Maharaja Ganga Singh in the early 1900s as a tribute to the rat goddess, Karni Mata. Intricate marble panels line the entrance and the floors, and silver and gold decorations are found throughout.
Had a flashback on the way home from work today… the Bob and Tom Show. I grew up about 50 miles outside of Indianapolis IN, and the station to listen to when I was a kid was Q-95. Each morning brought the Bob and Tom Show. They’ve long since became syndicated, and I have not listened to them in years, but for a raunchy talk show, I loved them as did most of Indianapolis.
I just want to share some of the laughs we had many years ago listening to the Bob and Tom Show. Yes, they are still on the air, but like many things, the shows of days gone past are still some of the best.
Throughout time kings and queens held court and their jesters served humor on the people. I’m sure throughout history there were times when these masters of satire were faced with the possibility of losing their heads as they opened their mouths. But most times even royalty could not resist their genius even if the throne itself was being held in humorous contempt. Thankfully today our jesters show themselves in the form of Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart. I have more respect for them than I do many journalists today. They are brilliant.

This video is GREAT! Even if you are not a fan of golf, you will find humor in it.
A routine golf cart patrol along the back nine is ambushed. Golf can be deadly.
This one’s for Pebble Beach…
A state of emergency has been declared in Oregon and Washington, where a powerful winter storm brought deadly floods, heavy snows of up to 4 feet, a severe ice storm, and damaging winds Wednesday and Thursday. Heavy rains of 3 – 8 inches have fallen over a wide swath of Western Oregon since Monday, causing major to record flooding on multiple rivers and creeks. In Albany, Oregon, a family of four drove out of a supermarket parking lot and into a flooded Perwinkle Creek Wednesday night, and were swept away. Two people were rescued, but a 20-month-old boy and his mother drowned. The Marys River in Philomath rose to its highest flood on record yesterday, and will remain at major flood stage today before gradually receding tonight. The rains have tapered off over much of the region today, but renewed rains are expected later today and intermittently into early next week.

I am currently house and dog-sitting for my dear friend, Lyn. She called a few weeks back and told me that she decided to fly to Kansas City to visit her brother whom she has not seen in years, and asked if I could watch the dogs and house. How could I say “no.” Lyn has always been there for me, even allowing me to rent (very cheaply) a spare bedroom for nearly two years when I was struggling through some financial difficulties. And, fortunately for me, Lyn has always been a great sport when I pull my little wise-ass jokes on her, like borrowing one of her cars when mine was in the shop. I returned home and basically asked her out right, “Sooooo… who is your auto insurance carrier again?” You know… stupid little stuff like that all the time. But before I go into the one today, you need to understand a bit more about Lyn. More…
Rome (CNN) – At least three people were killed and scores remain unaccounted for as a giant cruise ship keeled onto its side after running aground near the Italian island of Giglio on Friday night, local emergency officials said Saturday.
Rescue teams worked through the night to evacuate more than 4,000 people from the Costa Concordia, owned by Genoa-based Costa Cruises, after it ran aground off of Italy’s western coast. More…
This is absolutely hilarious! On Thursday night, Jimmy Fallon’s “Late Night” brought another magical installment in what we hope continues to be a series of performances, this time with Fallon dressed as David Bowie and singing “Space Oddity,” but with some reworked, Tim Tebow-themed lyrics.
“For the first time, Tim Tebow and David Bowie together as one. Ladies and Gentlemen… TeBowie.” More…
Julie Nelson, 42 years old, was the woman who was hit by an LA deputy on the bus. The brutality was caught on cell phone video and since gone viral.
The chain of events began when a fellow passenger called 911 to say that Nelson was threatening people while waiting at a bus stop in Bellflower. Nelson did admit to the reporter that there was a verbal confrontation. According to the LA County Deputies Department, the two officers that boarded the bus recognized the woman from prior issues.
This first video below is the raw footage taken by a cell phone camera. More…
Imagine for a moment, that you write articles for any one of a number of political blogs, posting them on various social media websites. How would you feel knowing that the federal government has permission to monitor your activities and collect personal information about you?
Freedom of speech might allow journalists to get away with a lot in America, but the Department of Homeland Security is on the ready to make sure that the government is keeping dibs on who is saying what. More…
Just recently I posted a story and video of an LA deputy punching a non-violent woman in the face on a bus. This morning, a kind fellow blogger commented that the video was no longer available. This is what I saw when I checked it out: More…
Here is a phenomenal video with macro footage showing insects on flowers – activity which is difficult to see from normal observation. It is filmed with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and a Canon EF 100mm 2.8 L IS USM lens. Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. More…
The police brutality is truly getting out of hand. It is such a shame, too, more so to the citizens and those undeserving of such treatment, but also because there are many good cops in this world who are bearing the burden of the officers who abuse their “power”… but the “good cops” seem to be going the way of the dinosaur. There are many schools with zero tolerance toward violence and drugs…. why can we not implement a zero tolerance on officers in matters such as this?
In this video, the police boarded a Los Angeles bus and confronted a mentally challenged woman by name. Appears there may be history there. But regardless, the most violent activity she showed is shouting obscenities. It is very apparent she is not showing any physical threat whatsoever. In fact, it even appears as though she is having a difficult time just standing, let alone causing physical harm to the officers. Then, suddenly, wham! The cop to the right throws a right punch directly to her face. More…
