I love this photo of Obama. There is no faking this look on his face. President Obama invited young scientists and inventors to the White House to show off their creations. Here is a photo capture of the look on Obama’s face when 14-year-old Phoenix resident Joey Hudy designed this Extreme Marshmallow Cannon and demonstrated it at the second White House Science Fair Tuesday.
There are many things which we can learn from other countries around the world. Take a look at this building in China, for example. Harnessing manpower like never before, Chinese sustainable building company Broad Group has accomplished the seemingly impossible task of constructing a 30-story hotel in a mere 15 days (360 hours)! The above time-lapse video perfectly illustrates the whirlwind construction that highlights the never-ending possibilities of prefab architecture.
Unemployment and losing their homes have caused many families to move to the desert in Southern California, to a place called “Slab City.” The Slabs is a camp in the Colorado Desert in southeastern California, used by recreational vehicle owners and squatters from across North America. It takes its name from the concrete slabs and pylons that remain from the abandoned World War II Marine barracks Camp Dunlap there. A group of servicemen remained after the base closed, and the place has been inhabited ever since, although the number of residents has declined since the mid 1980s.
OMG… this is hilarious! If you are not familiar with The Onion, it is a site purely of satire. Apparently, Republican Rep. John Fleming was not aware of this and posted an article from The Onion titled, “Planned Parenthood Opens $8 Million Abortionplex” as factual on his Facebook page. Deb Ratner’s response is golden as she comments, “The Onion is satire. How exactly did you get elected?” She shoots, she scores! Three points for Deb Ratner!!!
According to pediatrics and obesity specialist Robert Lustig and health policy researchers Laura Schmidt and Claire Brindis, all at the University of California at San Francisco, sugar should be identified alongside alcohol and tobacco as a health danger, and governments should tax sweetened drinks and food as part of their efforts to combat it.
I find this very, very frightening. The power the Koch Brothers have – and so many people do not even know who they are. These are the two that are “men behind the curtain” which are running our Republican Party, and helped fund and motivate the Tea Party. They will stop at nothing when their billions are threatened. Nothing.
According to Huffington Post, at a private three-day retreat in California last weekend, conservative billionaires Charles and David Koch and about 250 to 300 other individuals pledged approximately $100 million to defeat President Obama in the 2012 elections.
