Sandia Ranch Sanatorium is one of Albuquerque’s local urban legends. An old abandoned insane asylum which was known for performing lobotomies and using electro-shock therapy is reported to be haunted. Several rumors exist including those of murder in addition to how the staff would store the bodies of the “batched” lobotomies in the crawl space in the boiler room. More…

Occupy UC Davis calls for general strike on Nov. 28 to shut down CA campuses 2
When I entered college at Purdue University in the fall of 1982, the tuition for a full-time student who was a resident of Indiana was less than $800 a semester. Naturally, there were slight increases over the years I attended, but nothing drastic. They were comparable to the increase in the cost of living and wages during that period. I was able to graduate debt-free never having needed to take out any student loans for my college education. More…
Media Consolidation: The Illusion of Choice | Infographic 4
With so many mergers, buy-outs, and bankruptcy’s which have occurred in the past decade or two, it has made keeping up with who is who, what is what, and who owns what very difficult. And, honestly, I simply just have not paid attention, nor have I really cared. I mean, it is not like I could or would have done anything, right? Like so many, we have just learned to shrug our shoulders and mumble under our breath, “So what’s new….” More…

Okay, one last post of pepper spray cop Lt John Pike meme art 5

Lt John Pike pepper spraying cop and Alfred Eisenstaedt's photo of Sophia Loren cover of LIFE Magazine
I know… this is starting to get a bit old. But, honestly… I have had a lot of fun with this as have so many others. So one last posting (unless something really, REALLY good comes up.)
The first 16 photos are my little creations. Then starting with John Pike holding his version of a “I am one of the 99%” letter is the beginning of other well-made creations of work. Sorry, but all creators names are unknown, otherwise they would receive credit.
Below the photos are a few videos worth watching.

Chaos ensues at Wal*Mart and other stores on Black Friday Reply
For new 2012 Black Friday footage, click here.
Violence marred Black Friday shopping in at least five states, including a California incident in which police say a woman doused fellow shoppers with pepper spray in a bid to cut to the head of the line.
The incident happened at a Walmart in the Porter Ranch area of Los Angeles, police spokesman Officer Robert Chavira said.
About 15 people were exposed to the spray. Los Angeles firefighters treated them at the scene and no one required hospitalization, Chavira said.
The woman was able to pay for her purchases and leave the store before police arrived, Chavira said. More…

Info Graphic | Pepper spray versus chile heat chart 1
One hundred years ago, an American pharmacist named Wilbur Scoville developed a scale to measure the intensity of a pepper’s burn. The scale – as you can see on this widely used chart – puts sweet bell peppers at the zero mark and the blistering habenero at up to 350,000 Scoville Units. More…
Political satire artwork 1
Although each and every one of the topics covered in these pieces of political satirical art are serious in nature, every once in a while, we all just need to smile and chuckle a bit just to lighten our spirits. Rome was not built in a day, and our government and other politically related woes will not be solved in a day either. More…
BBC Nature: ‘Brinicle’ ice finger of death filmed in Antarctic 1
A bizarre underwater “icicle of death” has been filmed by a BBC crew.
With timelapse cameras, specialists recorded salt water being excluded from the sea ice and sinking.
The temperature of this sinking brine, which was well below 0C, caused the water to freeze in an icy sheath around it.
Where the so-called “brinicle” met the sea bed, a web of ice formed that froze everything it touched, including sea urchins and starfish.
The unusual phenomenon was filmed for the first time by cameramen Hugh Miller and Doug Anderson for the BBC One series Frozen Planet. More…

Photos taken in RAW format with my Canon Rebel T2i 4
Just under two months ago, I purchased my first “real” camera… a Canon Rebel T2i. Oh, how I love this camera! I have always been passionate about photography and finally decided to make the move and invest in something more than a “point and shoot” auto-focus pocket-style camera. I am so glad I did… no regrets here. When looking back at my childhood, I have to laugh… whenever my mother would take the camera film in to be developed, I would always get in trouble. You see, when she picked up the photos, the entire roll would typically be pictures of our dogs and cats – which were my favorite subjects when I would sneak the camera out of the cupboard. More…
“My father’s car” A true story of love between a father, his two sons and a 1965 Chevy Impala SS 4
With all the turmoil and violence occurring throughout the world currently, I decided it was time for a “feel good” posting. Here is a story of the love between a father and his two sons.
In 1965, Herb Younger purchased a new 1965 Chevy Impala SS. This car was his baby. For twenty years, he cared for this car and kept it in pristine condition. However, when it was time for his two sons to go to college, Herb’s love for his sons was more important than the Impala so he sold the car to help pay for his sons’ tuition. More…

UC Davis Photos and Video of pepper spray incident. Are we in a police state? #ows 4
Our country has evolved right before our very eyes into a police state. Yes, a police state. Many cringe at these words and deny their existence within our own country, but look at what has been going on. Our First Amendment’s right to free speech and peaceful assembly is being blatantly denied. City by city, camp by camp, the police are coming in armed for warfare and using violent tactics and pepper spray on completely unarmed individuals. Where is our President during all this? Until recently, I have fully supported Obama, but now, I have some serious doubts as to whether he is acting in behalf of the people of our country – or if he is acting in behalf of those people “behind the curtain” holding all the money and corruption – in other words, the Oligarchs. Does our president need to be reminded of these very words he spoke by on January 28th in regards to the Egyptian Revolution? More…
