I Wonder If These Statistics Are True…

Just sent to me by a friend, but no source was given for verification. Quite interesting, though…

With little more than 500 employees, this company has the following statistics:

* 29 have been accused of spousal abuse
* 7 have been arrested for fraud
* 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
* 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
* 3 have done time for assault
* 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
* 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
* 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
* 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
* 84 have been arrested for drunk driving…

All in the last year.

Unfortunately, it is no company. These numbers reflect those we elected to represent us in Congress. Do you think it’s time to clean house in 2012?

One statistic that was missed and while verifiable I am sure knowone has bothered to confirm: of the 240 republican members of congress 100 have the IQ of a gnat, 90 have an IQ substantially less and marginally above those of 50% of it’s religious conservative constitutes, 10 of them while breathing are technically brain dead and the other 40 sit there amazed that they were even voted in (by the way they are the most intelligent of the republican batch)

  LOL… Since I’m a Mensan, I am curious as to IQ levels of all of them, for that matter. Although I have to admit, I’ve met a few fellow Mensans that were so intelligent (score-wise), they were way “out there” and it was like talking to a brick wall – unless we were talking physics (yawn). But, yes, there are many who do have the IQ of a gnat (I LOVE that!)

    Cary Grant said something to that affect to an actress playing his wife in a movie I saw long ago and can no longer remember. The actual line went ” If a gnat flew into your pool of knowledge it would break it’s neck. Interesting that you are in Mensa, my IQ is 135 not high enough to be in Mensa but high enough to get me in trouble and out again “)

    By the way I love physics as well. I love string theory and quantum theory and am fascinated by the search for the unifying theory of M…I understand the broader concept but unfortunately not the nuances…

      Oh, I enjoy physics… but (let me elaborate on the comment I made)… you could talk to them if it was physics… I didn’t say I could talk back to them… Just smile and nod my head a lot. It wasn’t one of my stronger sci subjects, I did okay – enough to understand the basics, but geology, computer, and graphic design was/is my deal. Now I’m completely fascinated (and often disgusted) with politics. It amazes me how so many politicians are so stupid, and how many think that they’re smarter than we are and assume that we are sheeple believing everything they tell us. Sad thing is… so many people do. I’m beginning to think that the conspiracy theories about how our gov’t is trying to “dumb down” society may have some validity to it. Baaaaa…….

    There was a time when my school records probably would have qualified me for Mensa, but I didn’t pursue it then and it’s probably way too late now that by brain cells are fossilizing. My son’s a member, however, and I like to take the credit for that.

      Actually my school records are horrible! I would lose interest about mid-term, then start blowing off classes. I was ready to move on to something new. I actually took the Mensa tests, which were two when I did them. One applies more toward educated Q&A’s, and the other is logical reasoning and problem solving. I did okay on the education one, but blew the other out of the water. And you most definitely may take the credit for your son… I haven’t read up on it, but I believe it is genetic. All my brothers (altho not a member) are Mensa material – and my brothers kids, and so on. I don’t attend any more and haven’t for years. It was fun when it was a new thing, and I did it more just out of curiosity, and also looks good on a resume… 😉

Oh gosh! Let’s find a source because if this is true, it is indeed a gift!

I have been preaching “throw them all out” (with the exception of Bernie Sanders) since the Iraq war and Patriot Act but people just keep on voting for the same old guys. One exception: in Utah’s last senatorial race, a moderate (for Utah) Bob Bennett, didn’t make it through the primaries due to his challenge by the Tea Party and we ended up (because we are essentially a one-party state) with Mike Lee, Champion of the Constitution as it is Written (except when it comes to marriage amendments and balanced budget amendments and anything else he decides he doesn’t like).

  Utah… ahhhhh…. What a beautiful state! I used to guide backpack trips through Zion (the Narrows, Orderville Canyon, and the Subway), as well as Escalante Canyons, and once in Canyonlands. And Paria Canyon too, which is more AZ than UT – but I so love the slot canyons and red rock. So beautiful. I have to say, though, I just don’t understand Mitt… After one of my trips, I stayed with a Mormon family (although I think they technically were more of Jack Mormon’s) in SLC for a few days before flying home, and I adored the family values instilled among them. They actually added on an additional wing to their home with all bedrooms, so when a cousin, or nephew or niece, or whoever, came to visit and it was late, they were welcome to crash for the night – and they did. (I also did a lot of historical research on the Mormons since my trips often included their history, such as Hole in the Rock – amazing what they did.) So in seeing this strong devotion to family, a perseverance (which was mind-boggling), one would think that this would reflect within a Mormon politician as a love for their fellow man. I see nothing even close to resembling this in Mitt. I honestly just don’t understand him – to me, he is as close to the devil or anti-christ as anyone I’ve “known.” (And that’s saying a lot since I’m an atheist.)

Somebody went to a lot of trouble to gather those statistics, assuming they are true. I have four fact-checking sites listed on my home page if you want to run it down. I’m guessing Snopes.com is the place to check these, especially if they came via email.

It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if it was true. But even worse, it doesn’t matter to me whether it’s true or not, because I can’t remember a time when Congress on both sides of the aisle, has been more guilty of betraying the American people with paralyzing inaction due to a combination of constant partisan bickering and obstructionism, as well as being guilty of moral cowardice for doing what is politically safe, instead of doing what is right for the American people. The vast majority of them are disgusting and disgraceful excuses for human beings, and worst of all, they have left us with a dysfunctional legislative branch during a national crisis, in which real people are really suffering as a direct result, while they sit on their fat and useless asses in their comfy seats.

  I agree. I am sick and tired of being their martyrs. Personally, I think we should be able to repeal ANY elected position so if anyone is not performing in the best interest of the majority of the citizens of the country, then we may petition, gather signatures, whatever and kick them out. Help stop them from acting in behalf of the money.

    I couldn’t agree with you more. There needs to be a way to stop the corporations with their unlimited flow of money now polluting American politics (Thank YOU! US Supreme Court!) and stop their Super PACs and their army of lobbyists from buying our government in order to do the bidding of Corporate America, no matter how destructive the outcome is for the vast majority of the American people. If we had the power of a process to recall people from elected positions who are betraying their own electorate, then maybe taking corporate money and voting for corporate interests wouldn’t be quite so appealing to them.

      Exactly! So many act in their own best interest due to serving the greed. We should be allowed to “call them on their shit.” Only way to get any reaction from them is if they risk losing their position.
