The Best Superbowl Commercials of Superbowls Past

Superbowl Sunday also means Superbowl Commercials. Thought I would take a trip down memory lane and searched for the Superbowl Ads from the past. And a few coming up during the game today. This was not an easy task considering many of the videos have been removed, or accounts closed.

But first, here are a few Superbowl Commercials which were banned and never shown on TV.

Bud Light | Skinny Dipping. I LOVE this one!

.
Rolling Rock | Bring your Cup

There are plenty here and don’t expect anyone to watch them all. So just scroll down and watch whatever sounds like it will tickle your fancy. The first video is “The 25 Best Super Bowl Commercials of All Time.”

Now here are a few individual commercials. In chronological order.

1970: Prestone | Dick Butkus. Not funny, but vintage.

.
1975: McDonalds | Big Mac. The tune us baby-boomers grew up with.

.
1976: Xerox | Monk Ad. Photocopiers have come a long way.

.
1989: Dorito | Jay Leno commercial. Note the computers in the commercial.

.
1999: Budweiser Frogs Commercial | Got Canned

.
1999: Budweiser | Lobster

.
1999: Yahoo! Hair Search

.
1999: WWF Superbowl Spot. I didn’t realize the reason the WWF changed to WWE was because of a lawsuit from a World Wildlife Fund woman. Sheeshhh…

.
2001: E-Trade | Chimp On a Horse TV Commercial

.
2002: Bud Light | RoboBash

.
2003: Reebok | Office Linebacker

.
2004: Bud Light | Wrong Lipstick

.
2004: Budweiser | Clydesdale Donkey

.
2005: Anheuser-Busch | Thank You to Returning Troops

.
2006: Sierra Mist | Airport Security, The “Wand”

.
2007: Sierra Mist | Beard Combover. This one is so stupid, it’s funny.

.
2008: Planters Nuts | The Mono-browed Woman

.
2009: H&R Block | Grim Reaper

.
2010: NFL – Best Fans on the Planet. I love the slo-mo, especially the touchdown in the beginning.

.
2010: Cola-Cola | Sleepwalker

.
2011: Suzuki | Kizashi vs Wicked Weather

.
2012: Chevy Volt | Aliens

.
2012: Cola-Cola | The Polar Bear’s Catch

    • Honestly, I’m not much of an NFL any more. It’s just gotten out of control with the greed and hype. But I do enjoy watching the Superbowl – as long as there is an actual game going on. But I do love the commercials. I have little interest in Madonna, tho, at half-time. I’ve never been a big Madonna fan.

      • I only liked one of her cuts, Vogue….I loved that song because at the time it was released my lady and I were living in Madison, Wisconsin, and we frequented a gay club and that song was on and poppin whenever it played. In Madison back then, the gay clubs were the best dance clubs. Everything else she has done i can take or leave.

        • Madison has some fantastic memories for me….but this is a family blog so I won’t detail those memories!

        • LOL.. yeah. I was a freshman in color, turned loose by my parents, and honestly, I don’t remember much of that trip, so must have been fun. I do recall having a great time, just been too long so don’t remember the details.

  1. I’ve set the DVR to record the game, today. So I can watch the commercials.

OTOH, Chelsea 3 – 3 Manchester United this morning on Fox was exciting as hell!

Go ahead... I can hear your thoughts. Please share with the rest!
