Santorum | Shut Down Public Education and Start Home Schooling

Rick Santorum has declared war on modern day America. He doesn’t think Protestants are real Christians. He thinks we should be at war with all of Islam. He believes Americans should suffer because in his sick mind, suffering “is a good thing.” He believes strongly in income inequality. He also believes women should be relegated to the home and controlled by men. And now he wants to destroy the minds of our children.

Rick Santorum has been very vocal about his preference for home schooling. There’s a reason for this of course. He holds a grudge. Santorum enrolled his children in the Western Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School and stuck the taxpayers for 80% of the costs which were paid through the Penn Hills School District. In November 2004, Penn Hills asked Santorum to repay $67,000 in tuition costs because he and his family were spending most of the year in Virginia and did not meet the qualifications for residency status. So Santorum pulled his kids out of school and has home schooled them ever since. If parents are supposed to be responsible for teaching their own kids, how come Santorum wasn’t home schooling his children before 2004?

It’s clear that Rick Santorum has a problem with publicly funded schools. A public school caught him taking wrongful advantage of Pennsylvania taxpayers and he’s mad about it. So instead of taking responsibility for his actions like a real man would do, Santorum throws a hissy fit and decides that public education must be destroyed. Of course, if Santorum manages to destroy public schools, millions of lives will change. Home schooling is not easy and it’s not cheap either. Many parents simply do not have the time or money to home school their kids.

And what about the parents who they themselves do not have a high school diploma? How are they to teach their children?

How does Rick Santorum expect a single mom to educate her children when she needs to work two jobs to feed and clothe them and pay the bills too? That may be a dumb question, since Santorum thinks single moms should just get married and stay at home. And that’s another topic altogether that’s equally offensive. Online classes are even more expensive and would still require a parent to stay at home and supervise.

Santorum has a dream of taking this country back to the early 1700’s, and I honestly am not sure why. And this better explains as to why he thinks that President Obama is a snob for supporting and promoting higher education for all.

  1. This is so terrible. Home school children often miss the interaction with other children, their extra classes (those not required) are at the discretion of their parents…reflecting their prejudices. parents with limited educations will have difficulty with some harder subjects. I was often taught by tutors as a child because my parents traveled extensively. While I got to see a big part of the world and my education was excellent, I never developed the close friendships that come from interaction with other children my age.

    • Yes, these are other benefits of public education. The interaction with others is crucial and prepares our children for adulthood. Plus, the hands on experience. How can any parent properly teach chemistry to their children at home? The chemicals, the equipment, plus the knowledge. Chemistry was not one of my stronger subjects. I have two college degrees and would never be able to teach chemistry to any child. Especially at a high school level.

    • I tried homeschooling with my daughter when she was in second grade. She was already a very social little girl and hated being home and not among her peers. I recognized that and took her back to school, though it was private school at the time. In public school now, she’s flourishing.

  2. Ricky is a joke. So basically, he wants kids to be homeschooled by parents who don’t have a college education ’cause God forbid, they wouldn’t want to be in the image of Obama, who’s a snob. No. Just be like their parents who didn’t go to college and actually, this kind of homeschooling will ensure they never get there.

Like, what are the Republicans who are running doing at this point? Play tag to see who can be the best idiot?

  3. Hmm, hadn’t heard about this clown’s episode with his own kids’ education. That would explain a grudge. Or maybe he’s just really unhappy with his own education: He obtained an undergraduate degree from Pennsylvania State University, an M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh, and a law degree degree from the Dickinson School of Law. I guess college is okay for some, but not others.

  4. I truly believe when he was a kid, he was always picked on, got the shit kicked out of him a few times, etc., etc., etc… No he is so-called grown up adult, and he his doing all the bullying, like he’s saying its pay back time, only the good thing is, is that a majority of the people are on to his bull shit…

He sucks at politics, and he sucks at religion too, and if his wife had the guts, she give him a good swift in the nuts, and that may wake him up…

Go ahead... I can hear your thoughts. Please share with the rest!
