The Parting Shot for May 20, 2012

The Annular Solar Eclipse. This is the photo I took when the moon was in the dead-center, middle of the sun. An absolutely SPECTACULAR event and evening. Albuquerque NM, where I live, was the “hot spot” for the eclipse as the path was a direct line through the city.

It truly was a magical evening. I will be posting more photos tomorrow. I do all my photography in raw format so I go through my images one at a time, tweak then convert to jpg. A bit time-consuming, but worth it. Image is much better in full size, so just click on it, please.

Wow! Just … Wow. That’s the brightest, most perfectly symmetrical image I’ve seen so far. You should send that to the networks, or some publications.

  Awe, shucks. Thanks! I’m sure there are many like this and hundreds, if not thousands, better. For those with the proper equipment for solar eclipses, they would be able to capture the image in my previous post… with the sun “flaming” in the ring. But thank you, though. I took a ton of pix, and thankfully so because several were out of focus. I also took video of the entire event, but I have major editing to do with that. I had to keep repositioning the camera view as the sun would drop in the sky and drop out of my camera view. So going to have to be very creative to make it flow nicely. Definitely time-lapsing it, though.

Nice photo. In fact, very nice. Sell it to a jeweler who sells wedding rings. Sometimes when I look at mine, I’m reminded of a brightness that outlasts moments of darkness.
