The people in Texas who moved an historic old oak to make room for a road should have just done this.
They actually moved an old tree? And it lived??

Well, I’ll be darned. Doesn’t seem like they got enough of the root system, but perhaps they did. Will be interesting to see what happens. Oak trees are pretty sturdy, I think anyway. Thanks for the links!
