Here is an exclusive video obtained by ABC News which shows James Holmes at Miramar College in San Diego discussing “temporal illusions” to students at a science camp. “It’s an illusion that allows you to change the past,” Holmes said in the video. Although somewhat awkward, he is just like any other student giving a speech. Somewhat nervous, but honestly, he did better than I do when speaking to a group of people.
Holmes was introduced at the seminar with:
“His goals are to become a researcher and to make scientific discoveries. In personal life, he enjoys playing soccer and strategy games and his dream is to own a slurpee machine.”
The dream of the “slurpee machine” is just another typical piece of humor from a typical American young male student. What happened to this man? Some are saying mental illness. Personally, I think anyone who is capable of killing another human has some sort of mental illness to begin with. But mental illness when used as a reason for a crime such as this to declare that Holmes was mentally unstable and incapable of understanding what he was doing. I completely disagree with this. He knew exactly what he was doing and carried it out with almost military precision.
