Sometimes, well no…. Most of the time Mitt Romney leaves me scratching my head in complete bewilderment, and this is one of those times.
Last week, Ann Romney’s plane was forced to make an emergency landing due to an electrical fire that filled the cabin with smoke. On Saturday, Mitt was quoted saying the following:
“When you have a fire in an aircraft, there’s no place to go, exactly, there’s no — and you can’t find any oxygen from outside the aircraft to get in the aircraft, because the windows don’t open. I don’t know why they don’t do that. It’s a real problem. So it’s very dangerous. And she was choking and rubbing her eyes. Fortunately, there was enough oxygen for the pilot and copilot to make a safe landing in Denver.”
I understand that Mitt’s statement here was probably “off the cuff” after the emotional roller coaster he had to have ridden last week. I do not like this man. I have no respect for this man. But he does love his wife and they’ve been married a long time. Any spouse would be upset if this occurred. But what Romney said is so incredibly stupid I can’t think of what to say next…. I can’t. I’m shaking my head…. what to say? Does he expect the laws of physics to stop just for him?
I can just see it now… some bratty little kid with a parent who is hopped up on Valium decides it would be fun to throw peanuts on the people on the ground. Snot-kid knows he can’t see the people, but he has one hell of an imagination. He vividly imagines the peanut embedding itself in a the skulls of strangers walking along minding their own business. Just an inch, that’s all he needs, just open the window an inch. Well… you know what the rest of this story would be. Little Monster here could possibly find himself embedded in someone’s rooftop. Actually, contrary to popular belief, people wouldn’t be sucked out (unless it’s a large gaping hole). But they would black out.
Oh, and let’s not forget the intense cold at that altitude….
Hmmmm… maybe this helps explain why Romney thought it was okay to put Seamus on top of the car….
There is one thing I would like to know… Why was Ann Romney flying commercial with the common-folk anyway? That had to have been more frightening than the fire and smoke.
(sigh) It’s a sad day in Mudville when this is one of our presidential candidates…
