The Fiscal Cliff. Are you just as tired as I am of hearing this in the news? Boehner is making even a bigger ass out of himself than ever before. And then has the stupidity to bring in a list of demands which include the same crap that Romney carried on his presidential ticket — which the majority of the voters made clear they did NOT like.
Just today, President Obama and Speaker of the House Boehner discussed the fiscal cliff via a phone call. It was the same thing…. again. Obama is demanding that Republicans agree to raise tax rates at upper incomes as part of a deal to rein in future deficits. GOP leaders say they will agree to higher revenue, but they want to close loopholes or reduce tax breaks rather than raise rates. Just like during Romney’s failed campaign, there is no list of these “loopholes” to close, nor are there enough available to make a dent in our debt. Boehner is like a broken clock, he prefers time to stand still, even if those times are far outdated and not in the best interest of this country.

So, do not expect this to be resolved by the end of the month. It won’t happen. Polls taken show that the majority of citizens feel that this standstill is the fault of the Republican Party, and it is. The people have spoken on November 6th and Boehner clearly is not listening. He simply does not care about the middle class. All that the GOP is concerned about are the wealthy, which also ties into their own investments and accounts. I’m sure Boehner with all his millions is not fond of the thought of having to pay more in taxes. Well, waaahhh.
I propose that at midnight on December 31, 2012, rather than singing “Auld Lang Syne,” we should all have on big ol’ cliff diving party, because that is what will happen. And I am in favor of it as opposed to giving in to Boehner and his ilk. I do NOT want Obama to budge. Not one bit. Naturally I cannot speak for others in this country, but I am willing to sacrifice $2k in taxes if it means that the rich are no longer receiving their deductions, loopholes and receiving more breaks than I have been, and the rest of the middle class and everyone else having to pay taxes who earn less than $250k.
There is also huge difference of perspective by waiting until January to come to some agreement. Right now, any plan agreed upon by both parties will see an increase in our taxes, even the middle class. Hopefully not by much, but a small amount. However, by allowing the tax breaks to expire and return to the full amount, then any new tax plan conceived after January 1st, 2013, will provide a reduction in our taxes. It’s all a matter of perspective.
I will see you all at the edge of the cliff on New Year’s Eve. I’m a retired rock climber, not a cliff diver….. But I will make an exception in this case.
“Romney was a poopy head.”
A brief post-script here, and yes, I’m on the late boat…. When I first heard the recording on progressive radio of someone calling Romney a poopy-head, I just assumed it was one of our political comedians cracking a joke. I was so wrong. It was only just the other day I came to find out that the recording of “Romney was a poopy head” IS Grover Norquist! Yes, old news for most, but… OMG, talk about ROTFLMAO until I die from not being able to breath! How the hell can ANYONE take Norquist seriously from here on out now that he publicly, on air, called Romney a “poopy head”?? And how can anyone over the age of 6 even consider using the label “poopy-head”???
Seriously? A “poopy-head”???
