I am completely sickened by this – George Zimmerman has listed on eBay a painting he created (an 18×24-inch canvas with a blue, waving American flag and the words, “God, one nation, with liberty and justice for all” added across it) — and the bid is currently over $99k! The bidding started at 99 cents and was over $110k earlier but has dropped a bit. The high bidder probably didn’t want all this media attention since this has now hit the news and pulled their bid. Sure, Zimmerman has every right to list items on eBay, but it’s the fan club that he has which completely turns my stomach.
I’m also very bothered that he is making profit indirectly due to the death (murder) of an innocent young man who only went to the convenience store for candy and a drink.
Personally, I think it looks like a “paint-by-numbers” and he just added the text with a stencil. Just look at the close-up of the image showing his signature – the text was added by a stencil. That is NOT freehand work. Zimmerman does make the following statement in this auction:
First hand painted artwork by me, George Zimmerman.
Sorry, especially with this being his first piece of artwork, I do NOT believe that he did this freehand. I did “paint-by-numbers” as a child and that is exactly what it looks like.
Here are some of the comments he approved to list in auction – which are technically supposed to be questions about the item for sale. I would like to submit “Murderer” but I seriously doubt he will authorize that “question.”

A: Thanks for your question, The paint was donated to me by a great friend (J.S.), as far as I know it is regular household latex paint. I know its not the fanciest, but it is what we had and I needed to put these visions onto the blank canvas as soon as possible. Your friend, GZ @therealGeorgeZ
