Zimmerman lists a painting on eBay that looks like “paint-by-numbers”. Bid nears $100k.

zimmerman_ebay_painting_002I am completely sickened by this – George Zimmerman has listed on eBay a painting he created (an 18×24-inch canvas with a blue, waving American flag and the words, “God, one nation, with liberty and justice for all” added across it) — and the bid is currently over $99k! The bidding started at 99 cents and was over $110k earlier but has dropped a bit. The high bidder probably didn’t want all this media attention since this has now hit the news and pulled their bid. Sure, Zimmerman has every right to list items on eBay, but it’s the fan club that he has which completely turns my stomach.

I’m also very bothered that he is making profit indirectly due to the death (murder) of an innocent young man who only went to the convenience store for candy and a drink.

Personally, I think it looks like a “paint-by-numbers” and he just added the text with a stencil. Just look at the close-up of the image showing his signature – the text was added by a stencil. That is NOT freehand work. Zimmerman does make the following statement in this auction:

First hand painted artwork by me, George Zimmerman.

Sorry, especially with this being his first piece of artwork, I do NOT believe that he did this freehand. I did “paint-by-numbers” as a child and that is exactly what it looks like.

Here are some of the comments he approved to list in auction – which are technically supposed to be questions about the item for sale. I would like to submit “Murderer” but I seriously doubt he will authorize that “question.”

Q: We all think a lot of you Zimm and hope the best for you!I may bid on your painting at the last min.How will you ship the picture, can it be picked up local?I would be driving from Arkansas
AThe price it is at now has well exceeded my $.99 minimum; therefore, whoever wins within the Continental United States, will receive this painting delivered by me personally. Your friend,

Q: A true winner is someone that figures out how to make lemmon aide from lemmons. I contributed to your legal defense fund. I am truly sorry our government run liberal media and justice department persecuted you they way they did.
A: God Bless you. You have nothing to apologize to me for. The system is broken, an innocent man should not spend one second without his God given liberty, solely because a small sect of uneducated loud mouths. We must fix it. If we can’t fix it together, then we owe many people a sincere apology. Your Friend,

Q: Hi. I was wondering if this account belongs to real GZ.
A: Thanks for your question, Yes, this account and my twitter @therealGeorgeZ belong to me, George M. Zimmerman. I have received this question a lot so I posted a picture of me holding my painting with the hope that would clarify any confusion. Your Friend, GZ

Q: What is the medium; oil or acrylic? Thanks
A: Thanks for your question, The paint was donated to me by a great friend (J.S.), as far as I know it is regular household latex paint. I know its not the fanciest, but it is what we had and I needed to put these visions onto the blank canvas as soon as possible. Your friend, GZ @therealGeorgeZ

Q: Just wanted to tell you we all love you and stand behind you. You have so many people on your side I hope you know that!
A: Thank you so much for the words of kindness and support. I do know how many great Americans are still here, I run into at least 3-5 a day that go out of their way to tell me the same. Your Friend, GZ @therealGeorgeZ

Now excuse me while I go vomit. And cry for Trayvon and his family.

[Author’s note: First of all, I have NO proof that this is a “paint-by-numbers” painting, nor do I declare it as such in my title-line. It just looks like one.]

  1. Latex paint doesn’t mix or blend well thus giving it the look of ‘paint by number’. It will also crack over time as it’s not meant to last like oils or acrylic paints. That said, the whole things SUCKS!
The stenciling is sloppy and the quote isn’t even right. It should read:

One Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

And it looks like it was signed by a five year old.

The whole thing insults on many levels.

    • It is missing the Indivisible, isn’t it. I caught on that “one nation” is physically place under “god” (thus no “under” painted on it) – but didn’t notice he had forgotten a word.

It is insulting. And this waste-of-skin will make some money off of it. Or donate it to the NRA

  2. I imagine he thought he was being clever by putting God above one nation but this isn’t Pictionary.
This ‘work of art’ wouldn’t even compare well to some Pictionary drawings I’ve seen.

Go ahead... I can hear your thoughts. Please share with the rest!
