I am furious! Absolutely, positively, smoke coming out of my ears, train horn blaring angry! Outraged! Infuriated! Pissed off! Pissed on (by Elon)! Enraged! Fuming!
You get the idea. (Yes, I pulled up synonyms for “angry.”)
On June 6th, it looks like Elon, or some X (formerly Twitter) employee has changed settings or algorithms in my account so I am no longer visil.
I had upgraded a while back, before Musk bought Twitter, simply because I love having the extra characters. It wasn’t expensive – something like $2.99/mo. It was impossible to say what I wanted to say in so few characters. Additionally, one of the perks of upgrading is a higher visibility ranking. When there are many replies to a post, mine would show towards the top so the visibility was higher. Same with my posts – when I posted something, it would be more prominent on my followers’ feeds. I’m not a Super User, and I had around 5,000 followers at that time. I was having about the right amount of interaction I could handle as I do work full time.
Then in comes Elon Musk. Really did not know much about him other than his eccentric posts he was always making – and he was posting some of the craziest shit.

Next, the election and, no surprise, Elon Musk backs donald trump. Elon continually posts trump’s propaganda – lies, conspiracy theories, etc.

Early June, I’m getting a lot more replies, shares, comments, etc. My traffic is increasing. I had a post that had over 2,000 Likes on it. Whenever I would check my feed, I always had several “Likes” as well as replies.
Around June 6, I noticed that, suddenly, I did not have any “Likes.” No replies. No sharing. Elon did just do some sort of update to X/Twitter — something about making the “Likes” private. But my account never goes back to normal. In fact, I had better interaction when I had a free account than I do now.
I reached out to Support. The way Elon has Support set up is to purposely reduce helping users. You have to send a direct message so the support and just wait. I waited three weeks and finally heard back. The support person said nothing was changed.
Bullshit! I start poking around and came across a section where we can download our data. I took the data for the last 3 months of Impressions and posted them on a chart. “Impressions” are basically any type of interaction such as “Likes”, replies, when someone shares a post, etc. I would love for anyone at X/Twitter to tell me that nothing was changed in my account. Here is what I saw.

Since I am liberal, a Democrat, and very VERY anti-trump, I post a lot about trump. Elon Musk does not play by the rules. He cried about being censored by the previous owners of Twitter, but it’s okay if he does it.
So, now, I pay far too much for features I no longer receive. I did sent this chart to Support – of course, no reply back. I’ve messaged anyone who works at X/Twitter when I come across them. I have chatted with a few people on X/Twitter who have had the exact same experience, so I imagine that Musk has done this to quite a few. I doubt the Super Users have been affected, though.
I have no other choice but to tolerate it. I can’t get a refund, I can’t reach support. I’m screwed. If I had the extra money, I’d love to do a class-action lawsuit. But I don’t, so I won’t.
I will just keep posting and hope that eventually my visibility and Impressions will increase. This is part of the reason I’m firing this blog back up, but I’m probably too late here to get much visibility before the election.
I post facts. I post my opinions based on fact. I will discuss the conspiracy-theory of the day. But I will never post a slew of lies nor support conspiracy theories. This recent attack on Haitian immigrants is vile Just file. trump and his MAGA Republicans just do not care about anyone except themselves.
If you have any ideas about how to resolve my X/Twitter situation, I’m all ears. Or eyes, in this case. Just post in the comments.
