The following is making its rounds on Social Media. Here is where I came across it. It is spot-on accurate and I wish Trump would read it. Sadly, even if Trump did read this, he’s incapable of comprehending that facts. Trump, himself, has been brainwashed by his closest loyalists into believing he is, quite literally, a gift from God. If Trump was capable of comprehending the facts, he would never see the truth and wave it all off as “fake news.”
Author unknown – we just know he’s from Australia. It is specifically a reply to Trump’s rantings that “NATO has never been there for us” bullshit. (I am adding paragraphs to make it more legible – and bolding the important facts because it is important to understand what the current state of our country is.)
Mate. You run a country with 600,000 homeless people sleeping on the street tonight.
A country where 40% of adults can’t cover a $400 emergency without borrowing money.
A country where insulin costs more than a car payment and people are rationing it to survive.
A country where medical debt is the number 1 cause of bankruptcy.
A country where women are dying in hospital car parks because doctors are too scared of abortion laws to treat a miscarriage.
You lock up more of your own citizens than any nation on earth. More than China. More than Russia. More than North Korea. The land of the free has 2 million people in cages, and a quarter of them haven’t even been convicted of anything. They’re just too poor to make bail.
Your life expectancy is going backwards. You’re the only developed nation where that’s happening.
Your infant mortality rate is worse than Cuba’s.
Your kids do active shooter drills between maths and English while you sell the gunmaker’s stock to your mates.
Your minimum wage hasn’t moved in 15 years.
You’ve got teachers working 2 jobs and veterans sleeping under bridges and you just spent a trillion dollars flattening a country that didn’t attack you.
And you’ve got a convicted felon, adjudicating raping, paedophile protecting, porn star shagging insurrectionist running the biggest dumpster fire war campaign since the Taliban thanked you very much for losing again.
And you’re calling Greenland poorly run? Greenland has universal healthcare. Free education. One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world. Nobody goes bankrupt there because they got sick. Nobody dies in a waiting room because their insurance said no.
“NATO wasn’t there when we needed them.” When exactly was that, champ? September 11? Because NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in history FOR YOU. Soldiers from dozens of countries deployed, fought, bled, and died in Afghanistan FOR YOU. Australia wasn’t even in NATO and we still showed up. For 20 years. And you pulled out at 2am without telling anyone and left them to deal with the mess.
So maybe before you start calling other countries poorly run, have a look at your own backyard, you spray-tanned aluminium siding salesman.
The only thing poorly run in this picture is your fucking mouth.

In all honesty – I’ve been thinking of moving out of the US, temporarily, for a while now. But, that costs money I cannot spare — I share a house with an older woman who is 73 with limited income, so we share costs, and she cannot afford to live here without me; and I have one remaining dog (recently had to say goodbye to two) and it’s hard to take a dog into another country. I am broke, yet I have a $75k/year salary with health insurance ($320/mo) – and I work from home, so a tank of gas lasts a couple months for me.
FACT CHECKS
Here are fact-checks to some of the stats here. Keep in mind, current numbers are VERY DIFFICULT to find because Trump stopped providing the correct government numbers last year – he didn’t like the numbers as they, well, are horrible.
Number of Homeless
According HUD, in 2024 was 771,480 — so, actually more than the Aussie stated.
Chances are, with the jobs lost under Trump, and the rising cost of everything now, that number has increased. (source)
$400 Emergency
According to Investopedia, more than a third of Americans said they can NOT cover a sudden $400 expense with cash or cash equivalents – so the Aussie was pretty spot-on there. The chart below shows the number of people who CAN cover a $400 emergency, and that number was growing steadily – until COVID, when the number started to fall. Biden stopped that downward trend, and Trump has not done anything to help.
Cost of Insulin
This number is a bit more sketchy to nail down. If you have insurance, you’re good. Average cost is $35/month for those with insurance or Medicaid/Medicare. However, if you do NOT have insurance, which many people had to drop their insurance due to Trump not renewing the ACA subsidies, insulin can cost upwards to $1000/month. The Aussie is not wrong, but not entirely right when it comes to insulin.
I do want to point out, Biden passed many caps on drug pricing. Trump revoked that plan – but insulin was unaffected. If you’re curious, here is the list of Executive Orders from Biden that Trump revoked on his first day in office. Biden’s EO’s all helped Americans in many ways. Trump revoked these out of spite.
Medical Costs is the Number One Reason for Bankruptcy
This has been a fact in America for many years now which is why Democrats have been pushing for government-paid healthcare for many years now. 2025 information available here but there are plenty of sites out supporting this fact.
Women Dying in Hospital Parking Lots
This is not an “official” statistic and is a more recent occurrence due to Republicans passing obscene abortion laws – but it is occurring here in the U.S.

US Incarceration Rate Highest in the World
Yup. The US does have the highest incarceration rate in the world, although we do run neck-in-neck with El Salvador and Cuba (per capita) – you can owe a lot of that to private, for-profit, prisons.
Currently, the number is higher than published numbers, as well, as we do not know how many undocumented immigrants Trump has locked away – but it is a very high number. Many, if not most, perhaps even ALL, of those immigrant concentration camps are for-profit. The Trump administration is keeping those numbers secret.

Life Expectancy in the US going Backwards
This WAS true, but does not appear to be so any longer. However, our life expectancy is LOWER than many other developed nations. COVID did cause our life expectancy to drop – more severely than other nations. Most likely because of the anti-vaxers that came out of the woodwork – another harm Trump brought on this nation. Minimum Wage Unchanged for 15 Years
Partially true. Depends upon where you live. Some states have not increased their minimum wage in well over a decade. Regardless, working minimum wage in any state puts you belove the poverty level. Trump recently signed an Executive Order to abolish the Department of Education. Future public school unknown. Expect public schools to disappear, children not graduate high school, and American education to go down the toilet — unless you can afford private schools, which most cannot.
The number of homeless veterans is increasing – rising more than 7% from 2022 to 2023. On an average night in 2023, 20,067 veterans were living in shelters. A staggering 15,507 veterans were living without any shelter at all. (source)
Actual numbers on bombing Iran are unknown – White House is hiding the true numbers. But NY Times states that Pentagon Tells Congress First Week of Iran War Cost More Than $11.3 Billion.

Trump is asking for $1.5 Trillion to fund his unnecessary war against a country that was no threat to the US. This is because Trump is incapable of losing. He could easily just back out now, but he won’t do it. So, it will cost us over a trillion by the time it is all said and done.
Recently, Trump did say “It’s not possible for us to take care of day care, Medicaid, Medicare — all these individual things, they can do it on a state basis. You can’t do it on a federal…” So look for Trump to start cutting back, or completing shutting down, Medicaid, Medicare. The states cannot pick these up overnight – so our elderly and disabled will be without healthcare.
Trump is just taking the money out of the Treasury, which is unconstitutional. Congress must appropriate any monies, which is not happening.
Recently – and this is not making the news, but it should – Trump just took $1.25 Billion from our Treasury and put it in his unlawful, unconstitutional Peace Board’s offshore account in Qatar. (source)
