Morgan Freeman, the Tea Party and Racism. Truth hurts.
In an interview with CNN’s Piers Morgan, actor Morgan Freeman stated, ““The tea partiers who are controlling the Republican party…their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term. What underlines that? Screw the country, we’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man out of here.”
That statement brought out the haters everywhere. And some of the most horrid, ignorant statements I have ever seen in such abundance.
I’m sure this will bring on some strong opinions, but honestly… Morgan Freeman has had the balls to say the plain and simple truth. And the truth hurts.

Racism is, sadly, alive and kicking in our country. I am a “yankee” who moved to the deep south for two years. And although there was racism where I grew up (it’s everywhere – human nature to hate those that are different), when I relocated south, I thought I had traveled through time and re-entered into the Civil War. I was not ignorant to the fact before I moved that racism was more prevalent in the South – but I was more completely shocked at the volume in which I encountered. When my opportunity came to leave that state, all you saw of me was the smoke from under my tires as I hauled ass out of there. The hate and ignorance was overwhelming. I wanted no part of it.
This is not to say all Tea Party members are racist, because they are not. There are no absolutes in this world. But the Tea Party movement has definitely brought the cockroaches out of the woodwork. It is troubling that many of them live behind and believe their own lies. I have yet to hear anyone come out and say, “I am a racist.” They live behind their own self-created labels such as “White Nationalist,” or “National Alliance,” or “ResistNet,” and so on and so on.
Morgan Freeman did a very bold move in such a blunt statement. Those of us who are not wearing blinders have been witnessing this hatred for over two years now, forever growing like a festering wound. I, myself, have heard my own friends using racial slurs against Obama.
Many of the Tea Partiers are claiming Obama destroyed our economy. During Thursday night’s Republican presidential debate, GOP Candidate, and Tea Party member, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann stated:
“President Obama has embraced a view of government-directed temporary fixes and gimmicks. They don’t work. He’s destroyed the economy.”
Let’s look at the facts here:
1. The recession from which the United States is still struggling to recover began in December 2007, 13 months before Obama took office in January 2009. That’s according to the National Bureau of Economic Research, the nonprofit agency that tracks business cycles.
2. By the fourth quarter of 2008, shortly after the banking crisis that resulted in the widely unpopular federal bailouts, the economy contracted by 8.9%, according to the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Economic Analysis.
3. The bureau found the recession officially ended in June 2009, five months after Obama took office. The economy has grown in every quarter since then, though barely in the past six months, according to the Commerce Department.
4. The unemployment rate, a more direct concern to the average American, has remained high after shooting up from 5.5 % in December 2007 to a peak of 10.1 % in October 2009. It was 7.8 % when Obama took office, and it has held at 9.1 % for the past two months.
The lack of improvement in the unemployment rate is not due to the current administration. It is because the GOP’s refuse to work together for the betterment of our country and our people. It is very apparent that the GOP’s are willing to sacrifice our country’s citizens in hopes of winning the election and gaining control of our government again.
These all contradict the false statements forever spewing from Michele Bachmann’s mouth. And people believe and follow her. That truly does frighten me.
How in the world does anyone expect Obama to fix the disaster he inherited from Bush? Seriously! This really is becoming very irritating. Bush utterly and completely destroyed our economy. There is no possible way to recuperate in just two years… or four years… possibly much longer. Do you really want to continue down the path that Bush led us? Look where we are now due to his administration. The current administration is making every attempt to bring our country out of it’s current status to which they are met with very hateful opposition. Our country and our people are suffering due to this inability to work together for a solution. There is racism on both sides of the coin, but the racism is coming out very strongly within the Tea Party. I do feel sorry for them… pitiful lot. Attempting to take control of this country based upon hate. Wake up America! There are people within our government, and various leaders, who do not like Obama due to his race. And there are those who do not like him because his is a Democrat. And there are also those who do not like him because they want the corporations to rule our country. Put all those together and you will come out with a wicked brew. The GOP and Tea Partiers are forcing the citizens of this country to become martyrs in hopes of seeing Obama fail. I have never seen such opposition in my life. I honestly am no longer proud of our country. Our leaders should all be ashamed of themselves for sacrificing their people to make a point. Obama has not failed… our government as a whole has failed.
There are racist haters within the Tea Party, like it or not, and here is a video showing many of the signs they wave during their movements. This is NOT to say all members of the Tea Party follow this path as they do not. Additionally, I cannot affirm the validity of these signs being held. We all know technology is capable of altering photos. But as I mentioned earlier, I have witnessed many of my own friends making statements which rival those in this video. And, please… feel free to go to both of those YouTube sights to view the hate and ignorance being posted in the comments – especially the video on Morgan Freeman. I think I’m going to be sick….

Lastly, for example, here are a few people who are leaders – not followers – within the Tea Party:
Karen Pack
Karen Pack describes herself as “a Christian, a Tea Party Member, a Constitutionalist and a Patriot”, is the leader of the Wood County Tea Party in Texas. But she also has a history with the Ku Klux Klan. Documents show that Karen Pack of Winnsboro, subscribed to the “White Patriot” tabloid, and that Thom Robb’s Knights of the Ku Klux Klan listed her as an “official supporter.”
Roan Garcia-Quintana
Roan Garcia-Quintana of Mauldin, South Carolina is involved in several local Tea Parties and served as “advisor and media spokesman” for the 2010 Tax Day Tea Party rally in Greenville, South Carolina. Garcia-Quintana recently joined the National Board of Directors of the Council of Conservative Citizens (CofCC), the largest white nationalist group in the country and direct descendant of the white Citizens Councils that fought to defend Jim Crow segregation during the 1950s and 1960s.
Peter Gemma
Peter Gemma, a resident of a Sarasota, Florida, belongs to the ResistNet Tea Party faction. Gemma is also a professional white nationalist. He served as head of Design, Marketing, and Advertising for the white nationalist Council of Conservative Citizens newsletter, the Citizens Informe — which has complained that minorities were turning the U.S. population into a “slimy brown mass of glop.”
Clayton R. Douglas
Sixty-four year-old Tea Partier Clay Douglas lives in Tucson, Arizona. The biker and one-time mayor of the tiny hamlet of Bingham, New Mexico is a member of the ResistNet Tea Party faction. Douglas uses his ResistNet website profile to advertise his Free American website and radio program — which has run racist stories like, “Are the Jews Behind the Destruction of America?” At a conference of another anti-Semitic group, Douglas once blamed Jews for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Larry Pratt
Larry Pratt of Virginia is a member of two different national Tea Party networks: Tea Party Nation and 1776 Tea Party. He has been promoting the gun and militia movement for years. In 1992 he spoke at a Colorado meeting of Aryan Nations leaders, former Ku Klux Klansmen, and adherents of so-called “Christian Identity” — a doctrine in which Jews are considered Satanic and persons of color are referred to as “mud people.”
Billy Roper
Billy Joe Roper is an enrolled member of the ResistNet Tea Party, a write-in for Arkansas Governor and a founder of the White Revolution. One of White Revolution’s rallies was held in Topeka, Kansas in May 2004, to protest the anniversary of Brown v. Topeka Board of Education, the 1954 Supreme Court ruling that outlawed Jim Crow segregation in education.
Enter in Civil War II….
Why don’t you show “The International Hearings on 9/11” which occurred in Toronto, Ontario? Not surprised that Mike Gravel, a U.S. Senator, has to take action against our own government outside of the U.S. CTV news reported the Hearings and The Portland Phoenix, a small local periodical from Portland Maine, did an article on the Hearings before they commenced on September 11th, 2011. Why don’t you write about that?
