Recently, there have been two incidences at two separate schools in Georgia where slavery and racism have been openly displayed. The first was when a teacher used slaves in several math problems on the test. And just recently, a teach participated in a “slave game” being played by the students.
Talk about timing…. This story below came across my Facebook wall just a short while ago. It claims to be true, but I do not know the origin. Regardless, I believe you will enjoy the ending.
A 50-something year old white woman arrived at her seat and saw that the passenger next to her was a black man. Visibly furious, she called the flight attendant.
“What’s the problem, madam?” the flight attendant asked her.
“Can’t you see?” the lady said. “I was given a seat next to a black man. I can’t sit here next to him. You have to change my seat.”
“Please, calm down, madam,” said the flight attendant. “Unfortunately, all the seats here in economy are full, but I will still double-check for you.”
The hostess left and returned some minutes later.
“Madam, as I told you, there are no more empty seats in this classs. I checked with the captain, as well, and he did confirm that economy class is completely full. However, we do have a few open seats in first class.”
Before the woman passenger could respond, the flight attendant continued.
“Look, it is unusual for our airlines to allow a passenger from the economy class change to the first class. In your case, though, given the circumstances, the captain feels that it may cause potential problems to make a passenger such as yourself travel while sitting next to someone you find to be completely unpleasant.”
Then, turning to the black man, the flight attendant said:
“Which means, sir, if you would be so kind to gather up your things and grab any items you may have in the overhead compartment, we have reserved a seat for you in first class.”
All the passengers nearby who were within earshot and shocked to witness this scene all began applauding. Several even gave a standing ovation.
