Rick “InSanetorium” Santorum

According to recent polls, CNN is stating the the latest results from Gallup’s daily tracking poll indicate Rick Santorum has overtaken Mitt Romney nationwide and now leads the former Massachusetts governor by an eight-point margin.

According to the poll released Sunday, 36% of registered Republicans said they are backing Santorum, while 28% prefer Romney.

Is there something being put in the water that is causing registered Republicans to think in such a ludicrous manner? Or are Santorum’s half-baked principles and beliefs simply drawing a following from those people who have “out to lunch” printed on their foreheads? This man’s thought process is completely insane he has become quite the joke to other countries citizens around the world. A fellow blogger informed me that in a recent conversation she had with friends in Brussels, they told her that if Santorum were to run for office in their country that he would be committed to a mental hospital. From an article in the Raw Story, here is a recent comment from Santorum that qualifies as a Conspiracy Theory more than rational reasoning:

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum on Sunday suggested that “Obamacare” required free prenatal testing coverage because President Barack Obama wanted to see more disabled babies aborted.

The former Pennsylvania senators had told supporters on Saturday that the Affordable Care Act just created the requirement “because free prenatal testing ends up in more abortions and therefore less care that has to be done because we cull the ranks of the disabled in our society.”

Therefore, it is now time to have some fun with this buffoon. Here are some great graphics and images with captions about Santorum I found on a posting called “Rick Man-Dog Marriage Santorum.”

  1. I love being referred to as “a fellow blogger” 😉

In my “real job”, I looked at why candidates who win a big election (even a symbolic one) end up attracting new supporters. The story essentially came down to people wanting to back a winner. If a candidate wins in one area, other people take notice, believing that someone is a winner. There are many different terms and caveats for this phenomenon, the most common being “bandwagoning”.

Santorum won in Iowa. He won three states in one night. He has won the most states so far. If you’re undecided, and you see others voting for a candidate and that candidate winning, people will gravitate towards the winner.

    • Thanks so much! I wasn’t sure if you wanted to be mentioned specifically by name and/or blog, so decided to be cautious. Thanks for the link, I will check it out! People, as a nature, are followers. Leaders are typically not the norm. I posted about this back in May last year. LOL… on the one month anniversary of this blog. Politics and the Asch Experiment

Very interesting about how people follow even though they know the answer is wrong. This also falls into the concept that man is a pack animal and often follow the alpha even though they have doubts.

      • If you really want an interesting study, there was a 2009 study, published in 2010, regarding the French Parlament. It showed that people sitting on the left of the building agreed with others sitting on the left, even if it was against their individual positions. The same phenomenon appeared on the right of the building. Moving people from side to side, they found agreement with the people they sat with more than those they associated with. It linked being included in a group as being more dominant in how one reacts than how one feels personally.

That’s a truly interesting prospect given how our Congress disfunctions.

    • I’ve been sitting here completely stumped all evening. Of course, I’m very exhausted and having a hard time thinking and just trying to put words together in something that resembles a sentence. But I’m just completely dumbfounded about the extremes to which Santorum is going. It really is beginning to look like he’s, and the GOP as a whole, is intentionally wanting to lose the POTUS election in November. If so, for what reason? What are they planning in for their game of chess they’re playing with the citizens of this country? I am at a complete loss. I think I’m going to do my parting shot and give up on trying to write something – and just catch up on my inbox.

      I am completely 100% baffled.

Go ahead... I can hear your thoughts. Please share with the rest!
