Trump Beheads the Statue of Liberty – Daily News Cover Page #DumpDaTrump

Looks like the NY Daily News is coming out hard against Donald Trump. Wait… I thought New York loved him…? On the cover of the December 9, 2015, edition is a caricature of Trump holding a sword in one hand and the decapitated head of the Statue of Liberty in the other. Included is the following statement:

When Trump came for Mexicans, I did not speak out – as I was not Mexican. When he came for the Muslims I did not speak out – as I was not a Muslim. Then he came for me…."

If this sounds familiar to you it is because it’s a variation of “First They Came,” a quote from anti-Nazi pastor Martin Niemöller who spent seven years in a concentration camp:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out –
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out –
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out –
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me – and there was no one left to speak for me. (source)

It’s plain and simple… Trump needs to go away. Far, far away. However, though, the terrifying thought is that who in the GOP presidential race is going to replace him? Ben Carson? Oh, puh-leeaze. Carson suffers from Walter Mitty Syndrome. Rubio? Jeb? Christie? That ex-CEO woman (that’s about how important I think she is, I don’t remember her name and I’m not bothering to look it up)?

Horus help us if one of these Republican buffoons makes it to the White House.
