How much damage can Trump do in one day?
Usurper Trump was a very busy person yesterday, February 1, 2017. In one 24-hour period, the following items were completed.
- Tillerson made Secretary of State (source)
- House passed resolution to nullify the Stream Protection Rule regarding pollution from coal mines (source)
- Sean Spicer named the wife of a fallen Navy SEAL in a press conference; Trump then flew to meetin the SEAL’s remains for a photo op (source)
- Sean Spicer revealed that Trump is planning an executive order to eliminate gun-free school zones (source)
- Trump gave a Black History Month speech in which he revealed he doesn’t know who Frederick Douglass is (source – come on Trump, at least look up Douglass in Wikipedia)
- Trump told the GOP to "go nuclear" and change the confirmation process for Supreme Court nominees (source)
- GOP, per instructed as above, changed committee rules to approve two nominees without any Democrats voting (source)
- General Flynn directly threatened Iran (source)
- Republicans removed part of Dodd-Frank that barred public companies from secretly paying foreign governments for mineral rights (source)
Today, February 2, 2017, is a sad, sad day for many as we come to realize – and admit – that our democracy is no more. We have entered the realm of an oligarchical dictatorship.
I want out. Ideally, I want Obama back but that cannot happen.
Thankfully, I am able to end this on a bit of good news. The White House says the new administration has no interest in rolling back protections of LGBTQ workers.
“President Donald J. Trump is determined to protect the rights of all Americans, including the LGBTQ community,” said a White House statement released Tuesday morning.
The statement appeared to come in response to rumors that Mr. Trump would soon sign an executive order that would remove some protections of LGBTQ people.
Thank gawd for small favors.
