Sen. Harry Reid Pummels Romney With the Truth in the LVNV Sun Op-Ed

The more I read and hear what Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has to say about Romney, the more I like this guy. But let me tell you – I wouldn’t want to be on his bad side because Reid tells it like it is. No candy-coating, no fluff – just down and dirty. But then, Romney is the one who made his life dirty, Reid is just sharing.

Today the Las Vegas Sun published an op-ed written by Harry Reid, and it is good. Reid argues that Mitt Romney’s 47 percent comments as well as his tax returns “are windows into the character, values and priorities of someone who could drive our nation’s economic policy.” Here are some excerpts from Harry Reid’s op-ed today:

“We learn the most about someone’s character not from what he does when he knows others are watching but from what he does when he thinks they aren’t…

“When he thought no one was listening, Romney accused 47 percent of Americans of not taking responsibility for their lives, painting them as lounging in government dependency — a conclusion he reached because, for various legitimate reasons, they are exempt from paying federal income taxes…

“The second lesson we learned came at another time Romney thought no one was looking: He released his 2011 tax returns late on a Friday afternoon in the hopes of making the smallest news splash possible.

“What was he trying to hide? Perhaps that, despite his tough talk on China, he profited from investments in a state-owned Chinese oil company and a video company known for pirating copyrighted content. Or that, despite calling Russia our “No. 1 geopolitical foe” and his fiery rhetoric against Iran, he invested in Russia’s state-owned oil giant, which does business with Iran…”

In August, Harry Reid disclosed that Romney has not paid taxes for ten years. Reid is keeping his source tight under his wing, but has stated that “this person is an investor in Bain Capital, a Republican also, and somebody who has been dealing with Romney’s company for a long, long time and he has direct knowledge of this.”

  1. I’d love to know who that source is and see proof of this claim that Rmoney hasn’t paid taxes in 10 years. If true (and I really wouldn’t be surprised if it is due to tax sheltering and the like), it would be a huge bombshell!

    • Me, too. I’m hoping that something like this comes out in late October. And Mitt cannot use the “blind trust” as an excuse on his overseas accounts. The owner of blind trust accounts can set limits as to what the person tending to the account can do. So if Romney didn’t elaborate not to put money in overseas accounts, then he knew it would happen and that’s what he wanted.

But the tax stuff… oh, please!!! I hope it does rear it’s ugly head within the next month.

  2. I find it rather easy to believe that Romney hasn’t paid taxes in ten years. Anyone who really wants to structure their life so as not to pay taxes probably can. It might take ten or fifteen years to arrange the structure of your wealth and income, but it can be done and it is done. Devious planning and a good team of tax wizards. Oh, almost forgot; it helps to have no conscience. Romney has demonstrated the depth of his conscience many times.

Like I said before, did you ever know a liar who wasn’t a thief? Perhaps he will get caught! It can’t all be on the up and up. Because his finances are too complicated and mistakes get made.

    Sincerely, Phillip

  3. I expect certain qualities from a presidential candidate, I just didn’t know it till now.

    Manners
Romney said “There’s something wrong with these cookies. They must be from the 7-11 bakery.
    Protocol
Romney implied London wasn’t prepared for the Olympics, and talked about looking out of the backside of 10 Downing Street, which translates to looking out of the White Houses’ ass.
    Discretion
Romney blabbed about a meeting with the head of MI6. This organization was kept secret till 1996.
    Preparation
Romney couldn’t remember Labour Party Leader Ed Milland’s name and called him Mr. Leader.
    Loyalty
He told Iran how to attack us with a dirty bomb on the infamous tape from Boca Raton.
    Empathy
He proves time and time again he has no idea how many Americans struggle.

Now Ann Romney’s worried about her husband’s mental health if he gets into the White House??
She should have thought about that a loooong time ago.

    • No kidding. You have to wonder what she thought when she was on stage with Mitt and he was carrying on about plane windows not opening and that “was a problem.” I doubt she’s a rocket scientist, but has enough brains to know why they don’t. He’s losing it… quickly. And that’s even more frightening because if, by some long shot, they were elected, if Romney goes ape-shit batty, then guess who takes over…. I’d rather live in Russia.

  4. OMG Paul ( Mr. Condesending) Ryan, who won’t discuss his budget plan because the math is too long. Too long for whom?? I’d be glad to listen for how ever long it took cause I want to know what the country may be subMITTed to if they win.

  5. PT beat me to the punch and used the exact line I had in mind for my comment here, so I’ll just say Give ’em hell again, Harry R! And then again and again!! And then again some more, until we finally get rid of this total travesty of all that a presidential candidate should be, once and for all!

  6. I’ve just saw a video of Mitt claiming that teenage boys who had sex too “early” were ten times more in danger of committing suicide than boys who were abstinent. How on earth can pleasure make you suicidal? I know this is not a big deal, but it just adds to the many dumb things he said over the years. Oh,and he also said”I’m moderate and my views are progressive.” WHAT?

Go ahead... I can hear your thoughts. Please share with the rest!
