Anonymous Claims to Have Hacked into Karl Rove, ORCA Thus Stopping Vote-Switching

As expected, any Romney supporter (with heavy financing), was shocked at the final outcome from November 6th, the night President Obama retained his seat. We have all heard the whining, crying, finger-pointing, foul, and so on and so on. But there were a couple of items which stood out more than others.

We all know that Karl Rove flipped out on FOX News when they announced Obama won Ohio. The video is below if you haven’t seen it. Basically, Rove just could NOT understand what was happening, which is what I expected. Although he did have a very shocked “the sun just rose in the west” look on his face, and that is what surprised me. Even more shocking was hearing many top supporters and chiefs cry that Romney was supposed to win with a landslide. That is NOT what the polls had been showing the entire time.

Karl Rove Questions Ohio Call for Obama Victory

These cyber “protectors of what’s right” – who refers to themselves as “The Protectors” – said that they had been following the digital structure of Rove’s operation and of ORCA, a Republican get out the vote software application. After finding open “doors” in the systems, they created a “password protected firewall” called “The Great Oz,” and installed it on servers that Rove planned to use on election night to re-route and change election results “from three states.”

“ORCA Killer” was launched at 10am EST followed by “The Great Oz” at 8pm EST on November 6th. Both sides watched as ORCA crashed and failed throughout Election Day. Rove even mentions computer problems while on FOX News that night. Rove’s computer techs tried 105 times to penetrate “The Great Oz” using different means and passwords.

Is this what happened to Kerry back in 2004 in Ohio when he ran against Bush? A server went down for approximately 90 minutes. When it crashed, Kerry was clearly in the lead. When it finally booted back up, Bush had taken the lead. How? Read on for a theory.

The Ohio Computer Crash in 2004

On the night of 2-3 November, 2004, the computer designated to count Ohio votes was cut out of the loop. Its web address was diverted to a private company in Chattanooga, TN, named SMARTech.

The web redirection on Election Night of 2004 went a step beyond this: Not only did the official website of the Ohio Department of State look just right, but it had the right address: . Any citizen or press service looking for real time election results from the state of Ohio would have been directed here. In every sense, this SMARTech site became the official vote tabulation for the state of Ohio.

SMARTech leases computer servers to the Republican National Committee, and the 12-digit ISP address to which the Ohio Department of State was diverted for the 2004 vote count falls between two ranges known to be leased to the RNC. This raises the suspicion that it was an RNC computer, impersonating the state of Ohio computer, that performed the official vote tabulation in 2004. This diversion is so unusual (and brazen!) a ruse, that it is inconceivable that it happened without Blackwell’s explicit consent.

Perhaps Anonymous decided that these spoiled rich boys could no longer have their thieving, cheating way any longer. Here is the letter which was supposedly put out by Anonymous explaining how they hacked the hack. LOVE IT!!!  Oh, click on the image to pull up a PDF file.

NOTE: This is a CLAIM by someone who provided a letter to Occupy for Accountability who calls themselves “The Protectors.” None of this information has been proven, but you have to admit, it fits the circumstances and various occurrences that night. Now, someone may be a very good writer, too, by taking various items from that night, like Rove not believing Ohio, “It wasn’t supposed to happen this way” (not verbatim, but close), and a few other things and created a nice little story like this.

Even if this isn’t true doesn’t matter to me. Well, it does in the sense that the guilty parties need to be prosecuted. Considering what happened in 2004, it would not surprise me in the least of Rove had some prearranged plan which would alter the outcome to their favor.

Here is a warning from Anonymous released before the election. I wonder if Karl saw this and completely dismissed it, or if it never caught his attention.

(who names their website “wonkette”??? A Willy Wonka wanna-be?)

  1. It’d been a long campaign and every time I thought the republicans couldn’t sink any lower, they did! Right up until election night. Thank you Anonymous for keeping an eye on them.

  2. I read a detailed article somewhere about ORCA. That puppy was doomed. No beta testing? No stress testing? Even I know better than that. And Romney had the money to hire the best computer people in the country. Go figure. Anonymous? I think they’re just farming some publicity after the fact.

    • Possibly. But Rove’s face and too many people shocked because Romney was “supposed to win by a landslide” has bothered me ever since the election. Something was up their sleeves…

      • It was NOT Rove’s ORCA that Anonymous tunneled into; it was SmarTech.

*Thread: “So SMARTECH, company that hosts (owned by RNC), ALSO hosted the OHIO ELECTION RETURNS???”, March 21, 2007.

*Thread: “So what exactly have we stumbled onto with the SMARTech Corp nameserver?”, March 22, 2007.

      • I agree the confidence from inside their bubble was just too much. But they are not dumb I think they had some rigging of machines or some other means to fix the vote. They are diabolical

      • My take was that they were planning to steal Ohio with their last minute trap door software patches, but the SOS got cold feet because at that point in the evening Obama already had enough EV to win without them. Stealing Ohio when it’s goign to call the election for your guy is one thing, but if the other guy is still in power it means you could wind up in federal prison. Jon Husted strangely, mysteriously imo, “went home early” that night. I suspect he just saw the writing on the wall and backed out.

  3. I’m just glad (very) that Romney lost. Things will be tough enough with who we have without a real crazy person as President. Things are not getting better in the world and we are in for some interesting times. Like as in the curse, “may you live in interesting times”. Only the young and the foolish are not afraid of what the future may bring.

    • Romney isn’t crazy, at least not in the strictest sense. Psychopathic? Well, “I like to fire people” seems to support that, as well as running a successful company that in essence rapes companies that are in trouble, then slits their throats (After all, companies are people, my friend) So I can legitimately use the analogies. But he KNOWS he’s doing that, and he KNOWS (I’m fairly certain) that it’s WRONG, but since it’s technically ‘legal’ that excuses it in his teeny, tiny mind.

So crazy, in the strictest sense, no. But nuttier than I want my President? Definitely.

      • I should have been more specific and less of a generalist. Psychopathic is exactly the word that I should have used, but I just got lazy. Phillip

  4. This scares the crap outta me. Anonymous has always done some pretty out there stuff.

If they have the evidence and it’s ironclad, then Rove should see a slammer for a long time

    • I agreee! Thank you anonymous, if you have the data, PLEASE! turn it over now because the next theives of democracy may not be so stupid as to leave a few “electronic doors open.” THe world should watch Rove pay a price for such a perversion of democracy!

  5. Do people like Rove every get hung out for what they perpetrate in corruption? Club Fed is a joke. I like seeing this sort of passive aggressive action. treason is what comes to my mind.
The entire party is like humpty dumpty

  6. I am so glad anonymous was on the case and prevented the theft. We are felt the repigs were up to no good, and in may ways. They really thought they had this rigged and nothing could stop them now. Why else would they be so cavalier about the ‘win’? The win they thought was wrapped up nicely. romney had a whole website set up and going before the election was even over. He had this grand celebration planned, complete with fireworks. Although it is illegal to be in meetings with the superpacs, rove and romney were holed up real cozy under the guise of fundraising or something. romney has committed so many election crimes, he has actually bribed alot of voters and paid alot of folks to ‘ACT; on his behalf. Like the lady who appreared in more than one of his little campaign ads, and rally’s, pretending to be so afraid of what would become of her if Obama got back in. It’s too obvious they were all about stealing the election. Suppressing voters, intimidating them, scaring them, lying to them, fooling with ballots( or lack of them) and mailing out the wrong dates of the election to targeted groups. The way Rove and FOX-not-news acted, yes, they were truely shocked that the fix wasn’t in! I will be grateful to anonymous for saving us from them.

  7. Thank you Protectors and Anonymous. But please don’t say too much about what you did. If Rove figures it out, then you cannot stop him. Oy Veh. Thanks so much again. You did an amazing thing and saved many lives and the quality of many lives.

    • I have little doubt. I KNOW Blackwell (in 2004, Ohio SoS) was crooked, As is Husted, although he seems slightly less brazen, and that idiot in FL…. stoopid [sic] enough to be totally in on that type of ‘fix’. He did everything else he could to be a Secretary of Suppression. There are several other states that really need to look at some serious ‘spring cleaning’ to weed out the crooks and put in (if such an animal exists) some honest politicians

    • Oh, pish-tosh. I practically failed any class in high school that dealt with politics. I hated it back then. About 5 or so years ago I started to become more interested and just read a lot of articles and stuff on the web. I still frequently look stuff up to better understand what’s happened or is happening.

  8. If this WERE true, if the votes could be hijacked, then they could be hijacked either way. We could end up with states contesting every election, and every court in the country could get bogged down with cases that would make Florida 2000 look like a minor hiccup. Nothing would be done because nobody would be in charge, or too much would get done because the lame duck session has become a wildlife sanctuary for the incumbents. It’s a post-apocalyptic world without the fun of an apocalypse.

  9. Thank you Anonymous. Karl Rove stole the 2004 election and he was hell bent on stealing this one as well. The meltdown was so obvious. Thanks for interceding, and please help to make sure all votes are processed correctly in 2014. I think Dem’s have realized they need to show up. There are quite a few House seats up for re election. I believe McConnell’s Senate seat comes due in 2014!

  10. This is mind-boggling at the least….and totally horrifying!!! How is this possible, and why hasn’t this whole mess been exposed??? Or has it, and I’m just clueless?!

  11. Thank you Anonymous! Stay with us in 2014! Mitch McConnell and other Republicans are up for re election. Keep the election process working.

  12. So with all this electronic intelligence ( ? ) and evidence, Why,? is this ‘bundle’ not in the hands of someone interested in justice ?

  13. I believe what Anonymous says here, and therefore I thank Anonymous for being our Guardian Angel. And hey, even if, by some chance, Anon. didn’t do what is said here, well played for getting THEM to believe it, or at least question…. Either way, fine stuff indeed.

  14. In 2004, they kept people from voting in Cuyahoga county, and they flipped their voes, and they did LOTS of things, so that Kerry never got the expected boost from that largest of the Ohio Counties, that was expected to go heavily for Kerry, but DID NOT. Rove in 2012 seems to have been expecting the same kind of “fix” to have been in place. But it wasn’t, this time. Thank God.

  15. If this is true….. If this is true, We owe Anonymous a debt that we can never repay. If this is true… It’s just too fucking much!! That’s great!! Use your powers for good against the forces of evil… Right On!!!

  16. Whether the Orca claim is true still needs to be determined, but if ANY piece of vote tabulating equipment is connected to the internet, PERIOD, that in itself should be a MAJOR SCANDAL. Heads should roll.

  17. I doubt that ORCA was really supposed to do what it is claimed here by Anonymous. Though it appears that the activities of Anonymous might account for at least _some_ of the technical difficulties ORCA was experiencing on election day…

  18. Nothing in the article, short of the headline, supports the claim that Anonymous did it. The only thing shown is a pre-event threat. Do you have confirmation for the headline?

    • Headline says “Anonymous Claims” to have done it but nothing in the article supports that. Bad headline or bad reporting? Extremely important headline, and I’m extremely interested in this claim.

  19. I’m glad that someone who is intelligent and cares enough to stop the injustice and stealing of voting machines and lets justice do its job in election of our President!
Mitt Romney and Carl Rove can buy many people and things.
But not all people will be bought!
We can only pray that the Greed stops along with the Wars!
I doubt that Mitt Romney nor Carl Rove have people that are as intelligent like Anonymous working for them.
Anonymous would not work for them.

  20. If they penetrated ORCA so deeply then they should offer up some proof, not just words. This could just as easily be a hoax.

    • I agree it seems to good to be true. I have not seen anything main or alter new sources mention this as of yet. MoJo seems to me would have caught wind of this goodie by now…maybe they have this and are waiting to vette the source before release…nice whammy to the GOP and big money backers right when this session is wrestling on what each other has to “compromise” on in taxes…would give some leverage in getting a more fair shake for the middle class.

  21. There is no doubt in my mind Bush stole two elections! The fracas in FL and then getting selected by the five (republican…some Papa Bush’s selected ones) Justices. If Al gore was President, 911 would likely not have happened, nor would the two wars, our economy would be great, as well as employment, and on and on. Then there were the rigged votes in Ohio which stole votes from John Kerry!
Karma on all of those who cheat!

  22. A Malcomb Hume: There are many sources of proof
    For example:
GAO report upholds Ohio vote fraud claims

“The chief executive of Diebold, one of the major suppliers of electronic voting machines, Warren “Wally” O’Dell, went on record in the 2004 campaign vowing to deliver Ohio and the presidency to George W. Bush.”
    – – – – – – –
“In the 2000 election, Florida was the key; in the 2004 election, Ohio was the key.”

  23. @ Malcolm Hume: . What the repubs did to voters in Ohio in 2004…

    By Michael Parenti

The 2004 presidential contest between Democratic challenger Senator John Kerry and the Republican incumbent, President Bush Jr., amounted to another stolen election. This has been well documented by such investigators as Rep. John Conyers, Mark Crispin Miller, Bob Fitrakis, Harvey Wasserman, Bev Harris, and others. Here is an overview of what they have reported, along with observations of my own.
Some 105 million citizens voted in 2000, but in 2004 the turnout climbed to at least 122 million. Pre-election surveys indicated that among the record 16.8 million new voters Kerry was a heavy favorite, a fact that went largely unreported by the press. In addition, there were about two million progressives who had voted for Ralph Nader in 2000 who switched to Kerry in 2004.
Yet the official 2004 tallies showed Bush with 62 million votes, about 11.6 million more than he got in 2000. Meanwhile Kerry showed only eight million more votes than Gore received in 2000. To have achieved his remarkable 2004 tally, Bush would needed to have kept all his 50.4 million from 2000, plus a majority of the new voters, plus a large share of the very liberal Nader defectors.
Nothing in the campaign and in the opinion polls suggest such a mass crossover. The numbers simply do not add up.
In key states like Ohio, the Democrats achieved immense success at registering new voters, outdoing the Republicans by as much as five to one. Moreover the Democratic party was unusually united around its candidate-or certainly against the incumbent president. In contrast, prominent elements within the GOP displayed open disaffection, publicly voicing serious misgivings about the Bush administration’s huge budget deficits, reckless foreign policy, theocratic tendencies, and threats to individual liberties.

  24. I hope this is all true. It sounds right. Therefore, I thank you Anonymous. Now about Romney’s tax records — can you please use your powers, Anonymously, to publish them to the American people?

  25. Here’s the thing. Unless they hand over some evidence to some third party, this is just another “unprovable” conspiracy theory. There are some things however, that at least circumstantially give it some credibility, such as the suspicious events of 2004 and Rove’s shock at losing Ohio. Another factor in favor of “The Protectors” is the explanation provided by the Romney campaign for what ORCA was supposed to do. Basically they were going to call voters who hadn’t shown up on Election Day? This makes no sense, especially given that the other side had been CONTACTING voters for months prior to election day and actually working to get them to commit to vote for the President and to actually get to the polls on election day. The Obama campaign was doing most of this door-to-door, not via telephone. It is defies credulity that in 2012, the Romney campaign was so stupid to have planned to use ORCA in the way they say they were going to use ORCA.

The remarkable thing here is that even if Rove really was planning to steal Virginia, Ohio and Florida, Romney still would not have won the electoral college.

  26. I doubt that they have anything that will help us to prosecute Rove, given that they made the choice of stopping him, rather than gathering the intel. But I totally can believe this is what occurred. And I DO NOT understand why more states are not using the mail-in ballot that Oregon has! We get the ballots in the mail, in plenty of time to figure out whether there is some difficulty with our own voting status. We can sit in our homes and take as much time to vote. And then we can either mail our ballots (which I do on some elections) or drop them off at precinct ballot boxes.

I know most of us LOVE our computers … but there surely are NOT that many people in the US who have not figured out that if a BANK can be hit with a hacker, certainly VOTING MACHINES can, as well !!!

  27. Pingback: :P « voting «
  28. A wonkette is the female version of a wonk, as in policy wonk–those DC employees whose jobs it is to work analyzing and developing public policy.

  29. Ok please show us the source and dll’s that you claim Rove used. I mean if you could hack the entire network you would have access to this. Honestly They admit to tampering with the election then blame Rove and have 0 proof. to me this alone should trigger a complete and total revote, since they admitted to meddling in the election.

    • You do make a point! However; I think that you will have to hold your breath like I have while wanting previous elections recounted or redone altogether. Phillip

      • There’s been voting fraud ever since we started having elections. They’d stuff ballot boxes before electronics came in, and a bunch of other ways. I was listening to the radio yesterday and they gave quite a few examples of ways that a number of votes were completely fraudulent, as well as voter suppression. This year most definitely was not the first year this has been done. Doesn’t mean it’s right. No way, no how. But it’s nothing new, and if this is true, I’m so glad their ways came back to bite them in the ass.

        • This conversation is still going on with the inferance that Anonymous had anything to do with it. Nothing but the headline says that, nothing in the article itself, nothing in the news, and nothing by any of the Anon accounts I follow on Twitter. Somebody that was anonymous, sure, but Anonymous the group? Show me something documenting that, please.

        • Nothing more than a letter. If you don’t want to believe it, then don’t. It doesn’t matter one way or the other to me. The story fits the events that night so many people are finding it enjoyable in hopes that it is true. But the world isn’t going to spin off it’s axis just because there isn’t any proof.

Centuries ago, many civilizations thought the world was flat. A few daring people thought it was round but could not prove it. But no proof doesn’t mean it isn’t true….

        • I don’t doubt that it happened, I just argue that the headline says something that isn’t mentioned in the article.

    • Ah, I see what you’re saying. It’s not in the letter but when Velvet Revolution was contacted, this group referred to themselves as “The Protectors.” An anonymous group of cyber-whizzes. No, they didn’t refer to themselves as “Anonymous,” But then, who exactly IS “anonymous?” Cannot really pin it to any specific group of people when we don’t know who they are. What exactly is their infrastructure? Are they in the US? UK? All over? Do they all function independently of one another with complete autonomy? Or coordinate with one another?

Yes, there are some people who do refer to themselves as “anonymous” when they put out videos, hack a system, etc. They hacked the Jerusalem Bank and some other “important” sites in Israel last week to protest their attack on Gaza. But I have also seen people who I know damn well are not Anonymous but claim to be. Early this year, “Anonymous” requested for everyone to help with crashing FB. This wasn’t their style to ask the masses to assist. Plus FB is where their birth took place in Tunisia.

I guess what this comes down to is there is no “definition” of who Anonymous is, but moreso what it is – people who are unknown hackers against greed and corruption.

  30. I don’t know if this is true or not but it sure seems to fit. Why was Karl Rove so sure they would win and so shocked when they didn’t? And John Kerry was winning in Ohio and all of a sudden all of the exit polls started showing Bush? I don’t believe he won that election or the first one. Look what an election can do to the country. And I think it would have been double bad if Romney had won. I wish this were true and could prove it and Karl Rove could be locked up for the rest of his life. I am so happy the Koch brothers and all the fat cats couldn’t buy this country. Anyhow, if this is true, we owe “The Protectors” so much … the middle class, the poor, us and our children and grandchildren would have suffered so much! Millions of people!!!

  31. Was this why Romney was so ‘shellshocked’ at a loss? 0_o Wow lol I knew that something was going on because of the ‘confidence’ of the Republicans about winning the election…glad Anonymous was there to intercept if this is true (which I don’t doubt it is).

  32. Lot’s of “if this is true” here. One more: …If this is true, we have suffered a fascist invasion. If the 2000 and 2004 elections were tampered with, that invasion was the most damaging in the history of the US. It makes 911 seem mild compared to the devastation caused by the Bush-Cheney worldwide melt-down. Compare it to WWII. It is a full frontal fascist invasion. If it’s true that we were saved from a 2012 invasion… everyone connected to Karl Rove and his fascist army should be brought before a tribunal. No degree of provable election tampering can ever be allowed to escape prosecution. For the life of a country, for the life of the United States of America, election tampering is an act of treason in every aspect of the word. And, it if this stuff is not true… it should serve as a warning that we must have federal control of voting apparatus. We need a vote receipt for all. Zero voting apparatus access outside federal control. Vote apparatus and supplies should be made by security cleared federal employees. We could think about giving the business to the US Postal Service, which already knows how to do the work.

  33. There was an article before the election that the Romneys own/owned a large share of the company that’s built the voting machines that are used in Ohio.

    • It’s a bit longer of a tie between Romney and the machines, but there is. I don’t recall exactly, but the ultimately, when you get to the end of the chain of “who owns who”, Bain Capital is what you end up with. Personally, I thought that was a bit of a stretch as it is something along the lines of “… your uncles cousin, who is related to Jane Doe’s great-aunt…” What bothered me more, however, is that Tagg, one of Mitt’s sons, decided to purchase the company that produces the majority of voting machines in use. Why? I didn’t know that Tagg had an interest in voting machines… until recently. Although the purchase was too close to the election to do anything with it this year, I still found that very unsettling.

  34. I honestly don’t put something like this past Rove and the Republicans, but these are pretty serious allegations, and if they’re true, then the authorities should be notified and provided with evidence, as well as the media. If it is just hearsay and conspiracy theories, then we’re no better than the people stuck in the right-wing echo chamber with their “socialist muslim kenyan” nonsense.

  35. This from:

“Karl Rove’s Crossroads outfit is holding a phone call for its big donors Thursday to sum up the race, said Stan Hubbard, a Minnesota media mogul and mega-donor. “Obviously, somebody made a mistake and didn’t do things right. There’s no question about that” he said.”

I found this quote to be interesting and has made me curious about who that somebody was and what that person’s mistake was.

Go ahead... I can hear your thoughts. Please share with the rest!
