GOP Congressional Spokesman Townsend on Facebook, “Let’s hurl some acid at those female Democratic Senators”

Jay Townsend

Soooo… how do you deal with female political Democratic opponents? Just hurl some acid at them. No, this is NOT taken out of context. Jay Townsend, who is the spokesman for Rep. Nan Hayworth’s (R-NY) re-election campaign, posted on facebook:

“Listen to Tom. What a little bee he has in his bonnet. Buzz. Buzz. My questions today… when is Tommy boy going to weigh in on all the Lilly Ledbetter hypocrites who claim to be fighting the War on Women? Let’s hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators who won’t abide the mandates they want to impose on the private sector.”

Now, in the heated race this year as our parties have grown to be even more hateful of one another than ever before, there are some horrid statements being made. Some in jest, some serious. I am sure that Townsend had no intention of being serious with his “acid hurling” idea – but some things are just not funny!

Jay, why don’t you go and have a chat with these women who have had acid thrown in their faces. I’m hope you will then understand how horrifically uncouth your statement was.

A very serious apology needs to be made here.

  1. Thanks for the link. I responded immediately. The comment is shocking enough on its own, but juxtaposed with those photos brings tears …

  2. Louise Duddy a Beautiful girl we grew up with, was the first person I knew this to happened to. The man will definately attract the right sort of attention now and I don’t think it’ll be political. How is he still in a job? I can’t believe it needs a petition. What’s wrong with this World.

      • Good point. This kind of language from our “representatives” needs to stop. Metaphor is one thing, but face it, the guy isn’t really the metaphor type.

        • Absolutely. And that’s what I mean, he’s not the subtle metaphor type, though I am sure that is what his defense is–“it was figurative langauge!” There are too many of his crude followers who will no doubt take joy in the thought of it being literal.

This is the racist sexist government we have elected to represent America.

  6. Bad, bad, bad! Don’t people realize the power of their words when there are mindless idiots out there to follow them and take their words to heart? Horrible.

Go ahead... I can hear your thoughts. Please share with the rest!
